I stayed because of the other excellent reviews and glad I did. From the outside, it is an old motel but it is one of those times where you can't tell a book from it's cover. Because I went to the area to fish, I had suitcase of everyday clothes and what I wear when I go fishing. So, I had a fair amount. Being able to drive up to the door was great. There is one section where there is a second level but I requested a first level when I made reservations. I liked being able to open the back of my SUV and walk less than 5 feet to the room. It was a plus right off the start. The room had a king size bed, a kitchen table with two chairs, a very comfortable recliner and a side chair. When I made reservations, the lady told me the bed was soft to some people, but I certainly didn't think it too soft. I have a bad back and the two nights I stayed I slept better than I have for years and supposedly have one of the best mattresses money can buy at home. There was a small refrigerator, a microwave and a small coffee pot with coffee packets. There is satellite TV and I had no trouble at all getting on my cell phone or the Internet.
The bathroom was very clean which is very important to me. The shower pressure was fantastic and water was hot and didn't fluctuate .
Another thing I liked was the tiled floor instead of wall to wall carpet in the room. It was easy to see it was clean and when many people use the place as somewhere to stay when fishing and hiking, just think what might be on a carpet. The room was fresh and clean. There was a remote control for the heater and air conditioner.
From the time when I called to make the reservation, to checking in and out, the lady at the front desk, I wish I could remember her name, was exceptional. I knew that I was arriving late and she hid a key for me because the office was closed. When I checked in the next morning , she was as friendly in person as she was on the phone.
The rooms are decorated like a fishing cabin resort. My room had knotty log bed frame high off the floor and paintings and decorations for trout fishing which goes with the name.
Cotter Trout Lodge is comfortable, clean and a very reasonably priced place to stay.
Cotter, Arkansas is a small old town. It has one restaurant just for breakfast and lunch directly behind Cotter Trout Lodge. It was a terrific place for breakfast with friendly waitresses and with some of the lowest prices I have paid for breakfast in years. .

This is a GREAT place to stay! We stayed here with our family, which included our 6 and 8 year old boys, our 16 and 18 year- old niece and nephew, my sister, my mom and aunt, plus 2 dogs. Large span of ages, but everyone loved it! The rooms are super clean and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. Every employee seems personally invested in making our stay comfortable. The charm, service and cleanliness was better that the large chain hotels we typically stay at. We fished the White River and swam in the spring which is a short walk away, boated on Bull Shoals lake, shopped at the Natural State Fly Shop…so many things to do and not enough time in the 5 nights we stayed. Our kids loved the little touches of the fish-themed bingo game we found in our room and the large book about fish that explained all the species. Our whole group is looking forward to coming back!

We spent 2 days in Cotter and enjoyed every minute ! The rooms were clean, comfortable and most of all pet friendly. Everyone we met at the Lodge, the Orvis Fly Shop and the restaurant was happy to answer any questions and even share their favorite fishing spots. Our fishing guide Shawn was the best ! His knowledge of the White River along with his patience made our morning on the river perfect.

Stayed three nights. Rooms were clean and well taken care of. Friendly and attentive staff. My only complaint was the size of the refrigerator. It would have been nice to be able to take some extra food for our dinner. Will definitely stay again.

My husband and I were visiting my parents that spend the summer in Arkansas. We were looking for a comfortable place close to their location. My husband called for the reservation and spoke with Carolyn. By the conversation you would've thought we were already members of their family. We were staying eight nights and they gave us a discount. When we arrived we were met by Jane who was just as friendly. She shared with us the local restaurants, events, etc. that were happening that week. We fished almost everyday. They have a freezer on site to store the fish until you leave. We enjoyed the fire pit one evening. They supply the wood. We heard the stories about Jane and Carolyn, who are sisters, working to restore this historic landmark. They have put their personal touch on the hotel and it shows. They are working to restore the rest of the rooms. It is a work in progress and I know their hard work will pay off. The room was spacious and very clean. We mentioned we were enjoying our trip so much we would like to bring our entire family of 17 next year. Our ages range from 3 to 76. There is something to do for everyone. Fishing, biking, hiking, swimming all within walking distance. Loved every minute!!

I just stayed three nights and was very pleased from the moment I walked into the office. Jane had my paperwork ready to go and had already gone down to turn on the a/c and make sure that everything was in order in my room. She filled me in on all of the 'need to knows' Very clean and comfortable room. Wifi and all of the right sports channels. lol It's appropriately decorated and has a very nostalgic, rustic trout fishing lodge feel. I will be back for sure.

Jane is the best! We were coming in from Texas and had planned on being there by 10pm, however; we did not make it until midnight. She waited up on us and was so sweet about everything. Great people, great place. This place was very nice, clean, quite, helpful and the shower works great! Will definitely be going back to visit them! I hope you enjoyed the fish!

Felt welcome from the time we checked in, until we left. Everyone was soo friendly and helpful. We were going to be on the river until 11, and they let us check out at 12, so we had time to come back and change clothes, after the fishing. Highly recommend!!!

Cute, clean and right next to a great fishing area and park! Not fancy but just right for trout fishing trip. Lots of chairs in room, chairs outside, grills. Very comfy for hanging out. Two restaurants next door just quick walk. The white sands restaurant is owned by family and good place to eat. We didn't try other one. There's a convinence store and liquor store within one mile. Great great park almost next door. Swimming area from fresh spring, play area, volleyball, basketball court, tables, etc. Super comfy king bed in room 23. We added a roll away that was cozy for our son. We will come back!

I made an impulse decision on a Sunday afternoon to drive to the White River for a couple days of fly fishing. Long story short, I had a great two nights at the Cotter Trout Lodge, caught a lot of good trout. My room was immaculately clean, big, had a reclining chair, flatscreen tv, a comfortable bed, and good shower pressure. The ladies running the place were extremely nice and helpful in giving me directions around the area. I had breakfast at their diner each morning, right behind the hotel. I caught really good fish on the White just less than a mile from the hotel, drove half an hour to the Norfork, and drove half an hour up to the Bull Shoals dam. There's a grocery store five minutes from the hotel on the way in and out of town. I had no plan other than to fish, and it ended up being a very successful trip - a lot of it owed to the Cotter Trout Lodge. Thanks!
