Detailed Reviews
Casa Lobo is truly an oasis. This was our group’s first time to San Pedro la Laguna, and I’m sure our trip wouldn’t have been the same if we had stayed anywhere else!
We stayed in Torre 2 which comfortably slept five people (one king bed, one queen, and one decently sized couch bed which actually slept more like a twin/single). The private patio on the second floor was wonderful, but the rooftop deck we shared with Torre 1 sealed the deal for us. We loved spending mornings, days, and nights laying on the hammocks, taking in the views and sounds of nature, and watching thunderstorms roll by at night. And even though the rooftop space was shared, we never ran into anyone else up there.
The loft area which housed the king bed was beautifully decorated and smelled wonderfully of wood, which we loved. It had a large area with a couch and tv (which has Netflix!) which was great for hanging out indoors. The bottom floor had a kitchenette which had mostly everything we needed, even a corkscrew. We did have to initially purchase our own dish soap from town, but eventually housekeeping brought us some. I would also recommend stocking the bathrooms with additional toilet paper as we also had to purchase our own from a tienda when we couldn’t find anyone to provide some additional rolls when we ran out, but this wasn’t a huge issue by any means.
Our group loved the covered communal lounge area and the gorgeous infinity pool with an amazing view! It was so serene and the spot received a perfect amount of sun during the day. I also really appreciated the way Casa Lobo handled drink purchases- grab what you need from the fridge, mark what you take, and pay at the end of your stay. So easy and convenient. And the grounds were excellently manicured, lush green vegetation and fruit trees everywhere you look. Casa Lobo’a location was also ideal, only about a 15-20 minute walk from the main part of town and was very safe to walk at night. It was nice to be farther away from the action to take in the peace and quiet. For a quick jaunt into town we paid between 5-10q for a tuktuk, depending on how many people were in our group at the time (3+ people we could usually negotiate 5q per person).
Lobo himself was an excellent host and was able to provide advice and recommendations on things to do in the area, safety, and fair pricing for things like boats. He is a part of the San Pedro community, and it is easy to see how much he cares for Atitlán and it’s residents.
I will definitely be back to San Pedro someday and will definitely be staying here again.

Casa Lobo is an artistic, beautifully curated gem in San Pedro. Our plan was to stay there one night, but immediately after walking into his oasis decided to cancel our other reservations so we could stay there four nights.
Every detail of the place has been placed with care for those people who want to live life to the fullest without pretentiousness, soak in the small luxuries of life: have a cup of French press coffee on your private porch, make breakfast in the little kitchenette, catch the sunset in the hammocks on the rooftop deck overlooking all of the lake (Torre 1 & 2), sweat it out in the sauna followed by a cold plunge in the pool, 20-minute walk to town or you can hail a tuc tuc.
Lobo is happy to help answer questions/ make suggestions. We asked about a dinner reservation and he recommended his favorite restaurant El Gato Perdido and it was hands down our favorite meal there. Quiet, quaint and the perfect place to truly unwind and spend a special holiday.
When we return to the lake, this is where we’ll be staying. 💗💗

+1
Away from the city center, beautiful view of the lake, right on San Pedro Volcano, super quiet, surrounded by nature , had a very peaceful and restful vacation here. San Pedro has great nightlife and good restaurants. Casa Lobo is perfect for resting, reading books, sleeping with the window open. Comfortable beds, everything is new, very safe, the owner himself is always there for anything you need. Awesome

I would really love to give a five star for Lobo casa unfortunately after two nights of cold shower (their water heater is solar powered based) that means if the day is cloudy or raining, there won't be any hot/warm shower water, we tried to shower in the morning, cold water, we tried at night, cold water, and afternoon, you get warm water at best so we are always shivering, it wasn't fun at all taking cold shower. (minus one star there) internet is spotty, didn't work first day, second and third day works fine but you can see our disappointment there (minus one star there) and there are construction site next to the property (they started working 630 am) so we couldn't really sleep in (minus another star there) although it wasn't their fault, they also have construction on their own site, it didn't really bother us but it just doesn't feel as relax having construction sound throughout the day. (minus another star) infinity pool is amazing BUT the girls in our group, they couldn't swim and take advantage because it's again, also solar powered Thermo monitored, so the pool water is also too cold to really enjoy the infinity pool. The host is great, communicate well, prompt to all response and inquiry but unfortunately for us, we left disappointed since hot shower, internet and a good night rest is the bare minimum for all vacation rental.

Casa Lobo it’s the place that I really recommend to you.. it just takes 5 min to get there from the center to Casa Lobo you get there by a tuc-tuc actually. I was two days in the dorm room with a direct access to the pool, the dorm room was very clean with a large bathroom. The staff was very friendly and welcoming so that’s why I really recommend to you

Very nice accommodation, quiet and positive atmosphere with attention for details. I stayed in the dorm, it's on of the most comfortable and clean ones on the lake. The host is communicative and friendly. The kitchen is a big plus, perfect for cooking with 2-3 people.

This was one of my favorite stays at the lake. Such a beautiful property with owner onsite management that was very friendly and helpful. The property is quiet, great internet as I had to work there a few days and take zoom calls. It was comfortable with plenty of amenities. A beautiful outdoor kitchen. My stay was in their accommodation that was apartment style. It had everything you need and felt like a home away from home. It certainly will not be my last time staying there! If you are considering it, just book it, you won't regret it!

Stayed here with my girlfriend for 3 nights. We originally planned to stay for only 2 however we were having such a good time that we decided to stay an additional night. Wolfgang is an amazing host. The rooms were large and I enjoyed the private balcony space. We will definitely be coming back

If you're staying for a day or two this is not the place to be. This property is way out of town and requires a long ride on moto taxi. Some taxi's won't go to the area because of the distance. It is pitch black at night and one taxi driver could not find the property in the dark. It's a little scary to be in the middle of no where with no lights on a dirt road with a stranger late at night. There are no restaurants, stores or any facilities in the area. You are stuck in your room once you get here.
Another problem is there are no fans and no air conditioning. We opened the doors to get some air in the room, but then we were swarmed by bugs and mosquitoes because there is no screen door. You have to choose between being eaten alive by bugs or roasting hot at night.
You are instructed to not flush toilet paper...enough said. Very nice host but I can't recommend this location for a short stay.

Response from casalobo, Manager at Casa Lobo Bungalows

Thank you for your comments. We always try to do our best to satisfy every customer. We are very sorry that these guests made a difference experience . CASA LOBO are situated outside of San Pedro and 15 min. to walk or 5 min. Tuc Tuc drive, to get there . The nearest restaurant are 100m , and the next small store are 150m away from Casa Lobo. We are mentioned this on Tripadvisor and on our Website. Most of our guests really appreciate to be outside of the center and the action of San Pedro . We are located in a natural environment with semi-tropical climate, so especially in the rainy season May/June and September/October we do have bugs. These guests visited during the raining season in mitten an tropical depression with heavy rains , that means things sometimes can be different than expected . Guatemala are still part of the third world and the public infrastructure are not at same like in the industrial country's .The toilet drain system are different and not able to handle toilet paper. Air conditioning and heating are almost never used and would rarely be necessary in this climate. We would be very glad to be able to greet you again as our guest .

The pictures look gorgeous but there are some serious problems with staying here! The most significant was that they have a circular staircase connecting the upstairs bedroom with the living room and bathroom...there is NO BANNISTER on the staircase and a serious drop if you should fall. The last night I was there I slipped three steps from the bottom and twisted my knee and banged my arm...I could have seriously hurt myself and I have since been to an orthopedist and still am recovering three weeks later. VERY DANGEROUS- I spoke to the owner when I left telling him that I got hurt and he should consider putting in a bannister-he had no real concern or reaction.. Second problem..no screens on the windows so you have to keep windows shut (or get bugs in the room), or be warm during the day...next problem...one room and gate key for the unit which means you have to come and go with the person you are staying with. In this case it was very inconvenient since town was not close and we were not individually able to come and go...NO INTERNET-which was important to me so I had to spend a lot of time going to internet cafe's in town...I had checked before I booked and they said they had internet, this property is more expensive then many others and I took it for the internet and quiet location ..THEY DO NOT HAVE INTERNET...the walk from the road to the property is a little treacherous also, especially at night, not lit...the beach is not particularly nice and I got a vibe on the beach that was not inviting...Not always quiet and peaceful...the pictures of the unit are beautiful but to the left are other homes and if they are playing music all day you hear it...
I feel this is an extremely unsafe unit, circular staircases are tricky but without a railing ..treacherous..

We have a no-smoking policy at Casa Lobo. Everybody is welcome at Casa Lobo if they keep to the no-smoking rule. Tripadvisor readers may like to look at all the very positive reviews that other guests have written for many years.
