Stayed here for a few days while traveling solo and it was beautiful. I booked it knowing there were no scheduled group retreats happening, so it was quiet and relaxing. I think it would be very uncomfortable to stay at this location if there were retreat groups on site that you weren't a part of - IF you were looking... More

I stayed for a week in this beautiful place in a yoga training. We reached the place after a 3 hour ride from Guatemala city, and a short beautiful boat ride. the place is very beautiful in a simple Eco-friendly style.Rooms are pretty and basic, don't expect luxury but simple, comfortable accommodations, no wi-fi or tv in the rooms. after... Villa Sumaya is a wonderful place to visit. Situated on beautiful Lake Atitlan, Villa Sumaya was peaceful and a fabulous place to relax. The food was fresh and delicious; we looked forward to each meal. We enjoyed a yoga session each morning. Our room was clean and comfortable. The sitting area outside our room was gorgeous with plants, comfortable seating,... More

Villa Sumaya is great place to stay. It has a variety of rooms. I stayed in two rooms. Rm 9 had a spectacular view of the lake from the bathroom/shower. The shower/bathroom was spectacular in that it was built into the side of the mountain. The massage therapist are really great and more like healers than only massage therapist. I... More

I stayed in two rooms as the room I stayed in for the week there was not available the first night. I was in room 8 the first night, it was up many step to get to it but was well... More

Villa Samaya is truly a place of peace and healing. I came alone for a one week yoga and meditation retreat and stayed 3 days after to have more time to soak up all that I experienced during my retreat. Villa Samaya is a sanctuary for the soul. I felt restored, rejuvenated and completely held there. The owner, the staff,... More

We stayed for a couple of days on our own (not part of a retreat). We appeared to be in between retreats, right after Semana Santa. The rooms are lovely, the grounds and view of the lake are great. The food is very good and the service is top notch. They also scheduled a private tour of Santa Cruz and... More

I stayed at Villa Sumaya for two retreats this spring. This is place like no other at the lake or in Guatemala. The love that the kitchen puts into the food is evident, the grounds and buildings have a natural beauty and there is so much attention to every detail. I marveled at the level of hospitality and the exquisite... More

The ISTA level 1 is an intense and transforming experience, and to be able to go through this whilst staying in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Atitlan and Villa Sumaya was a wonderful gift. The location, facilities and staff are all excellent. I particularly loved having access to a swimming pool, especially as the lake can be quite choppy in... More
