This is a beautiful resort hidden off the beaten path (if there is such a thing as a beaten path at Atitlan). I highly recommend this place for couples...very romantic (as long as you don't need to use the bathroom while it is raining).

Wonderful experience, staying in this eco-lodge! Stayed in the large bungalow, which faces the lake for 4 nights. I recommend at least a 3 night stay to fully relax, unwind, and appreciate the full beauties of this great lodge and lake. The amenities were better than in some 4-star hotels, and the "eco" part added the right amount of "outdoors" for any adventurer. Awoke each morning in our glorious king-size bed to wonderful vistas across the lake to the volcanoes, after a great night's sleep under a thatched roof. Our fabulous fresh-cooked-to-order breakfast awaited us. We strolled out for some great kayaking on the lake. After that, we planned where we would enjoy lunch, from all the great towns that surround the lake. Took a water-taxi to one, engaged a Tuk-tuk to drive us to our destination, and had a wonderful afternoon exploring pottery manufacturers and weavers. But, dinner was to die for. We enjoyed freshly cooked fish every dinner, with such delightful side compliments. We can't get food this good in the US! Don't plan on partying at this eco-lodge, though; you'll want to be in bed shortly after dark, from all the kayaking, sight-seeing, and hiking! And you'll sleep very comfortably and well. Our bathroom overlooked the lake, so we opened the enclosure and took baths under the stars. What a luxury! A squirrel also enjoyed our bedroom, but we invited him out and all was good. This eco-lodge is well worth the visit - you'll come away so relaxed and invigorated!

This is by far, the most amazing place I’ve ever stayed. The attention to deal in the architecture, food, service and drinks is phenomenal. The owners weren’t there when we went but the staff was amazing! Every meal was of fantastic quality. The views are amazing. We were in bungalow 3 which was nice and secluded. I would definitely stay here again.

I loveddddd the stay at La Fortuna. We got the deluxe suite. Literally the best!! Kat & Steve were so accommodating to our extra special requests. The staff was so friendly and efficient. The views were insane. The food prepped for breakfast & dinner were delicious. It was pretty cool having to catch a boat to & from society. Definitely stay here!

We stayed in the most deluxe bungalow (the one with the private infinity pool) and I can't imagine anywhere else in my life ever topping it. We had only booked 2 nights and even though it is also the most expensive place we have ever stayed we just had to extend another night (and just let our other hotel reservation in San Pedro go without any refund XD) because it was just that amazing. Waking up to the delicious breakfast delivery and eating it in your living room with the view of the lake is literally heaven on earth. One night we were there we were lucky enough to experience an epic thunderstorm and watching the lightning over the volcano across the lake all night long is one of my favorite travel memories ever. The only downside was that when we were there there were no other guests staying on the entire property (or at least they did not eat dinner in the main lodge) so all 3 nights we ate dinner alone, so it was a bit isolated, but the owners did join us on our last night. I would recommend this to anyone
