My partner and I arrived late at night (1am) and Kat had organised us the shuttle from the airport and the boat to get across the lake. From the very beginning Kat and Steve were so helpful. The rooms / bungalows are amazing, beautiful and so eco-friendly. The stop on the lake where La Fortuna is is private so only... More

My wife and I stayed at La Fortuna for the first three nights of our honeymoon and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy Lake Atitlan. Firstly, I cannot say enough about how impressive the property is upon arrival. The dining area/bar is like something out of a book and the landscaping and multitude of seating areas make... More

Pulling up in the boat at La Fortuna was like stepping into a magical world. Surrounded by cliffs in a small cove, La Fortuna is instantly exotic, yet welcoming. Lovely people meet us. Our bamboo-based cabins were at once rustic and absolutely 1st class. Food, amenities, and the lovely hosts just aded to the magic. We did NOT want to... More

I had stayed at La Fortuna 3 years ago and returned last week. After my last visit I could not imagine what could make it even more spectacular, but then I saw the new bar, dining area and common area...wow! If in Guatemala this is a MUST if you are one of the lucky people to be able to get... More

There comes a time in one's life where one has an Ahhhh moment, this was mine. The grounds, the lodges, the VIEW, the amenities, the privacy all combine into a restful lovely retreat. Upon arrival, you are greeted with a delicious fruit drink. Once nestled into your private bungalow, you can go paddle boarding, hiking, swimming, etc. What really sold... More

We loved everything about La Fortuna! Balancing adventure and relaxation in the most beautiful and comfortable place. Coffee and food were exceptional too! Steve and Kat created a perfect getaway and have thought of everything. Creating an ecolodge that appeals to the outdoorsy adventurer while feeling spoiled rotten I would have thought was impossible, but not anymore. Nestled into a... More

From the moment we were picked in a teak-trimmed boat, our stay at La Fortuna was delightful. Our hosts, Steve and Kat were gracious and welcoming. The community space where my seven friends and I gathered for coffee and meals was beautiful and comfortable, with a generous front porch to take in the views and a large dining table for... More

Fabulous Eco Lodge. 4 jungly type houses that are perfect with thatched roofs and finished in beautiful native wood. Food 5 star. I drank mojitos with Myan mint grown on the grounds. Host are warm and welcoming but not obtrusive. We went in a group of 8 and "took over" the resort. Perfect for couples but also for friend and... More

La Fortuna is a little paradise tucked into a cove near Santa Cruz, but accessible only by their private dock. It is easy to get there (one stop away from Panajachel, 5-10min) and the public boats are happy to make that stop along their regular route. The most amazing part is the beauty and creativity of this property/ the bungalows,... More

It does not get any better than this...the individual eco cottage rooms, the owners as host and hostess, the architecture, the chef and food, the bar, the volcanos right across the lake...a little bit of heaven at La Fortuna. I walked by the coffee plant that this morning's cafe came. Access is by boat only. There are paddle boards and... More
