Just before the worldwide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic my daughter and I were lucky enough to have a two week adventure in Costa Rica. Staying at the Drake Bay Getaway in the Osa Peninsula was by far the best 5 days of our trip. The Resort is run by Patrick and Yens and they make your stay so very special. Patrick met us at the airport and brought us back to the area where one has breakfast/dinner/drinks...Yens presented us with delicious fresh drinks and asked about any allergies we might have. They pass on all to their chefs who then prepare extraordinary meals for all, tailor-made to whatever allergy you might have. Patrick and Yens make your stay as perfect as they can. We had the top floor of a cabin at the top of the hill - quite a walk up and down but all well worth it. The room is spacious, clean and most comfortable. You shower by the open sided aspect of the bathroom, which gives you the impression of showering in the forest. Dawn is a magical time when you can hear a variety of birdsong, animals calling. We had arranged trips into the rain forest, to Canoe Island, birdwatching ...all is possible from there. Yens would prepare you for the next day's adventure, giving you details of times to meet up, what to wear, take with. The guide we had was brilliant and his knowledge extraordinary. We can highly recommend this resort and hope that when this pandemic is finally over and Costa Rica gets up and running again, that others will be able to benefit from a little stay at the Drake Gay Getaway resort.…
Drake Bay Getaway… where do I even begin? This resort doesn’t make you feel like a client, they make you feel like family. Yens and Patrick go out of their way to make sure that you feel like you are at home during your stay. My now husband (then fiancé) planned our stay just a few weeks before our wedding, and we were SO lucky to be able to sneak into an open room (I DO NOT suggest this method, as they are often booked out). Yens and Patrick assisted us with booking travel from San Jose down to the Osa Peninsula, which made things SUPER convenient while we were busy putting final touches on our wedding. When we arrived, we learned all about the resort over Costa Rican coffee and fresh blended fruit juices (both delicious). We stayed in the Orchid room, which overlooks the rainforest canopy and the ocean. It is absolutely breathtaking. The double headed rain shower with a view of the ocean was also out of this world! Mealtime hours are predetermined, but flexible on arrival and departure, which we enjoyed. The food… I can go on and on, but all you need to know is that everything is incredible. Perfect portion sizes, plated beautifully, and the flavors are extraordinary. The excursions that they provide with your stay (depending on package, I believe) and the additional options are a blast! The tour guides that they work with are friendly and very knowledgeable. We took part in a Corcovado National Forest tour, a snorkeling day trip, a private jungle and waterfall tour, and private massages on our stunning balcony. With all of the meals spent and excursions executed, we started to feel like we were part of a family with the owners and guests. It was an experience that we will never forget. We stayed in multiple resorts after Drake Bay Getaway, and though they were all beautiful, this was our absolute favorite. Thank you Patrick and Yens for a honeymoon experience of a lifetime. P.S. We taught our friends in Arizona how to play, “Oh, Hell!”…
We just returned from a 5 night family vacation at Drake Bay Getaway Resort. Excellent doesn't begin to describe how wonderful this resort is. It is immaculately clean and well kept. Every meal is a gourmet delight made from locally sourced ingredients. Our hosts provided delicious gluten free and dairy free meals for those of us with strict dietary requirements. Yens and Patrick are incredibly attentive hosts who handled all of the arrangements for our various tours. They even arranged a special night tour of Tamandua Biological Station to accommodate our interests. We especially enjoyed socializing with the other guests and playing "Oh Hell" with Yens and Patrick in the evenings. The website and the photos accurately portray the resort. Book there with confidence. You won't be disappointed. We can't wait to go back!…
My husband and I spent 4 incredible nights in this Osa Peninsula paradise. From the moment we arrived Yens and Patrick made us feel completely cared for. The location is spectacular. Our "treehouse" cabin was luxurious and spotless with panoramic, open air, breezy views of the coastline and jungle. The food was fresh, delish and presented as works of art designed to tantalize and please all of your senses. Yens and Patrick took care of all our tours and activity planning. Drake Bay Gateway Resort is a must experience for travelers to Osa. The accommodations, food and activities simply can not be beat. But most of all, only Yens and Patrick know the secret to delivering an adventure of a lifetime that you won't be able to find anywhere else...MIC DROP :-)
What we will bring back home : the views and sounds while taking our shower with ocean view, the nights sleeping with the jungle breeze having all the windows and sliding door open, the sunrises from our bed, the nights playing ''oh hell'' with Patrick and Yens.
