What a great experience, from fine dining, beautiful location, being directly on the beach, and best of all, our host Jolanda. We were greeted with open arms, as part of the family. I would recommend the place to anyone who want to relax, disconnect and/or explorer trails. The cherry on top was all the beautiful wildlife that surrounded us. BIRD BIRDS AND MORE EXOTIC BIRDS. We just want to thank you for making our stay extra special.
This is a hard place to review. It's an adventure getting there by boat and as it is a small lodge there is only a small group of guests at any time so it is quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the set menu and having conversations with the other guests over meals. The grounds are lush and you have your own private beach to cool off. The staff speak English very well and are lovely -they went to a lot of trouble to reschedule trips and were very helpful. As well as the trips on offer there is a coastal walk you can stroll along. The downside is that our room got no breeze and without a/c was very hot to try and sleep. The sheets were very rough and pillows lumpy - improving those last two wouldn't be too expensive and would help with the enjoyment.
We had a lovely 3 nights here. The boat ride in was fun as was the wet landing. our room was fine, yes no hot water in shower - but tepid/cold showers 2 or 3 times a day were excellent given its very hot and very humid The food is good - yes dinner it at a set time and everyone sits at same long table. We had some good cross nationality discussions; Swiss, German, Belgian, French, Canadians, Brits - good company. As others have said lunch is expensive $15 for a plate of pasta. There is always cookies and cereal available, as is tea and coffee, there's an honesty bar for beer and soda. Fresh water is always available. The place is a little relaxed so you need to ask about tours/things to do. We did the National park guided walk. 1 hour boat ride, 4-5 hour guided walk (good guide saw lots of wildlife, small group 6-7 of us) lunch on way back. We also walked to drakes bay (its more than an hour at slow pace in the heat - locals might do it in 30 mins!) and back. There are a few cafe's shops there. At lodge we saw lots of birds and a troupe of capuchins came through twice playing on the roofs and in the trees.…
Las Caletas was a bit differnet again as it was by boat only access and was a smaller quieter place. However the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restarant had a set menu whgich was fulling and healthy. We found the lack of air conditioning in our room difficult to handle. Bur the swimming was great nad easy to enjoy.
we stayed three nights at caletas lodge. It was beautiful. We slept in a tent just in the middle of nature. The tent was verry clean and the beds are fine. Bathroom was separat, but verry near and always verry clean and shiny. The food was excellent. The chief in the kitchen, knows what he do. Every meal was perfect cooked. Muchas gracias Chef. Our host Federico was also a highlight. Verry friendly, perfect in organisation and a funny guy too. Just something like a new friend. All the guys at the hotel are verry friendly. We will come back.
