Since it was founded in 1985, Drake Bay Wilderness Resort has continued to be a family run business. Our focus has been to take good care of our guests so that they'll feel right at home. We try to be as flexible as possible, taking into consideration people´s needs and we do our very best to fulfill special requests. For instance, we will prepare meals for special diets. Furthermore, the hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful locations in the area. It has large open areas with a bounty of beautiful flowers, tropical plants, big mango trees, and beach almond trees that attract the raucous macaws. The property gives you the feel of being in a private island since the river flows along the backside of the property and the whole front side meets the ocean. In addition to this, most visitors come to us by boat and the access by land to the hotel is a small path, unreachable by car, that is submerged in a jungle. Best of all, there is a paradise like view of the bay and ocean, reflecting the deep blue sky and, beyond that, hills bound in lush forests. We offer all sorts of extras that help make our guests' stay more comfortable and enjoyable. For example, we include a full laundry service. Kayaks close to the water are always at our guests' disposal. We have a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, dock, and hammocks to relax under the shade of a tree with the cool ocean breeze blowing on you. From our hotel we take guests on adventures in snorkeling, hiking, diving, canoeing and whale watching. Visitors often see four species of monkeys, sloths, tapir, caiman and a myriad of birds, including the scarlet macaw, mangrove hawk, toucan...

It does say its a wilderness resort, but I had the feeling I was back at summer camp. The rooms are... well.... primitive... A double bed and a single.. AC that just barely kept up. The bathroom was in real need of renovation. There is only wifi in two areas of the property so be prepared for that in needing to do trip arrangements etc... Brian, the person with whom we dealt was a very serious and unfriendly man, not rude, but he stuck out among the sea of friendly, helpful and outgoing ticos and ticas working there. The high side? Oh my GOD the meals were awesome and servers made you feel like the rich spoiled kid at summer camp (cause really, the place where breakfast and dinner were eaten reminded me of my childhood camp dining hall) with tablecloths! Remember that you come

My wife and I spent 6 nights at Drake Bay Wilderness Resort in early November, 2019. The resort was comfortable and very appropriate for a wilderness resort. The food was excellent. Fresh ingredients were well prepared for all meals. The hotel staff and management were very accommodating and responsive. One employee, Alonso, did an excellent job of giving us advice and a feeling of the friendliness of the Costa Rican people. We spent 2 days on guided (required) tours of Corcovado National Park. The guides were excellent and nature experiences we will never forget. We spent one day each going to Cano Island and a tour of the Mangroves. Cano had good snorkeling and we had some great nature sightings in the mangroves. If you want to complete this Oso nature experience be sure to

We stayed two nights. All meals and tour were included. Superb organisation. Wonderful staff, and the best cook in all of Costa Rica. Impeccable service. I recommend highly a stay at this hotel. The tour to the National Park of Corcovado is definitely not to be missed. You will remember the people and the location.

My husband and I stayed here with our 2 daughters (young adults) in June 2019 for 4 nights. Our trips included: a visit to the Corcovado National Park (can be a little rough on the water depending on the weather) with our wonderful guide Manuel, who had so much knowledge about the park's flora and fauna; snorkling trip to Cano Island; horse riding down the river to a pool where you can take a refreshing swim near a waterfall; ziplining through the trees at a local location which was really fun. All trips were arranged by the hotel staff and all went to plan and were very much enjoyed. We saw dolphins on the way back from Corcovado and on the Cano Island trip. The hotel was fairly quiet while we were there, it being low season in Costa Rica but all services were available. The

From the moment we were picked up from sierpe everything was so well organised. The boat ride was an adventure in itself. We arrived at the resort and it is beautiful. We had a family room which although basic had a great shower and was very clean, air con worked very well and there was a lovely terrace facing the sea. They have the most beautiful spot and the garden has many hammocks. We kayaked down the river (free) - has a lovely lunch and then they provide tea too at 4.30. The food was great including hot and cold breakfast, free coffee and water throughout the day. First tour with Tico was brilliant - Corcovado- he knew everything. We had the most delicious lunch there all laid out nicely and bought on the boat with us. This isn’t just a packed lunch it’s a proper selection
