Encanto Lodge is located in Drake Bay, on the beautiful Peninsula de Osa of Costa Rica, surrounded by jungle, beach and lots of wildlife. Here you can find: •Tranquility and hammocks - perfect for relaxing •Idyllic location - Jungle, River, Lagoon and a lonesome beach are within spitting distance •Scenic sunsets with the pacific ocean in the background •Scarlet Macaws, Hummingbirds, Iguanas, Kinkajous, Caimans and more wildlife •Thematic guest rooms decorated with paintings from the local wildlife •Freshly prepared meals served in our restaurant with ocean view •Guided tours to Corcovado National Park, Snorkeling or Diving at the Cano Island's reserve, special night tour at Encanto Lodge to look for crocodiles, among others, and many more... •Free Kayaks, Canoes and trails for individual exploration of the environment - familiar atmosphere We are looking forward to your visit, Edu and Sabrina
We had the best stay ever in our 9 nights at Encanto Lodge with Sabrina and Edu.
The two make the impossible possible: A real jungle experience in a very clean, safe, healthy and kind way.
Corcovado NP is close, so its actually in their backyard. If you want to see wrap bear and other mammals of the area (like tapir!), different reptiles or amphibiae or birds of any kind: its all just there!
The tours they offer are professional and informative and of course always tailormade.
The food is marvellous too. Its always prepared fresh and its well balanced in nutrients.
The beach is beautiful and lonesome. The sea nice to swim (and fun with some waves too). Our kids (4 and 7, waterlovers) loved it too.
In a nutshell: Sabrina and Edu are naturals in being hosts: kind, warm people and ambitious in doing the best for their guests.
Its by far been the best place we were in costa rica. And we hope so much to come back.

WOW! Just what I needed to end my stay in Costa Rica. Edu and Sabrina were incredible. Edu picked us up in town, and we had a warm welcome from Sabrina. The friendliness and service was so nice. We chose to eat our meals at the lodge and everything was delicious. We were able to use the canoe to get to the beach each day and even went kayaking. If you’re looking for a sweet getaway in a quiet, serene place, this is it! It’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy the views, hang in a hammock, swim in the ocean, and enjoy the beach. We were the only ones on that part of the beach during our stay. I was with a group of girlfriends but I’d love to come back for a longer stay with my partner as well. Love love love the Encanto Lodge! (My photos of everything won’t upload but a couple of the views and the beach went through)

We stayed at Encanto Lodge our last night in Drake Bay and it was everything we wanted and more. We wish we stayed on this property longer. It’s a little further from town, but they arrange pick up and transport for you to anywhere you need to go if needed. It’s also the closest place to stay near the airport which was very nice! We had our own private cottage with amazing views and access to the canoes and kayaks all to ourselves. This property has a private lagoon and private access to the beach which we had all to ourselves! Edu and Sabrina were very sweet and the most accommodating hosts we had our entire 10 day trip in Costa Rica. They prepared delicious meals for us as well. We highly recommend staying here! Perfect for a private getaway with your partner or best friends!

My wife and I stayed eight days at Encanto Lodge in January 2020 and found it to be a little slice of heaven. In initially planning our vacation, we specifically set out to find a place removed from the throngs of people, noise, and traffic where we could decompress and commune with nature. We found it (and more) at Encanto Lodge, where nature abounds in a tranquil and serene setting with numerous tropical birds (and other native fauna), as well as miles of beautiful, lonely beach. For the adventerous, the activities offered by the lodge were awesome and well worth it-we availed ourselves of all except the snorkeling excursion and had a great time. Lastly, the hospitality and friendliness shown us by Sabrina, Edu, Hilda, and Edine and the incredible, homemade meals, made this a vacation that we will not soon forget.

We had a wonderfull time (2 nights) in encanto lodge, spending the days in full nature and feel priviledged to have met Sabrina, Edu and their 2 lovely little daughters. My daughter and enjoyed to relax with our grandson (21 months old). Edu took us on a boat tour to watch birds and monkeys. We could use to boat to go to the nearby beach, which we had only for ourselves :-). The colours on the website are real!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Rio Drake Lodge for 3 days in February and it was an amazing experience. It exceeded our expectations and we loved everything about this place - i really cannot say enough. We lucked-out and were the only 2 people staying there at the time. We immediately loved the rustic and remoteness of it. Edu and Sabrina are so lovely and such generous and helpful hosts - we fell in love with the place. Sabrina's cooking is ridiculously good... the monkeys accross the air strip are wicked to see first thing in the morning... taking the canoe for a ride along a river...swimming and fishing everyday...and then candle-lit dinners and star-gazing at night top it off. Corcovado National Park was definitely worth the day-trip as well. It was a major(and unexpected) high-light of our 3 month trip through Central America. I'd love to go back some day - we think about our stay there often...such an experience, cannot say enough - great job Edu & Sabrina;)

We loved everything about Encanto Lodge, would recommend a stay here without hesitation and would love to return!
Edu, Sabrina and their girls were lovely and extremely welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts, lunches and evening meals were in their small open air restaurant area with a stunning view, and were delicious and varied with very fresh local ingredients such as freshly caught fish. Edu also prepared wonderful homemade bread, pancakes and fresh fruit as snacks for our trips out.
The sunsets over the lagoon and evenings were magical with the sights, sounds and smells of the surrounding tropical forest. The family is very concerned with nature conservation and very knowledgeable about all the different plants and wildlife in the area, happy to point out different birds, plants and animals we came across such as caiman in the river at night and a woodpecker in the tree next to the restaurant.
We stayed in the family Tapir room with a double and bunk beds, which was very clean with beautifully painted walls, an en-suite shower room, a fan and a shared patio with 2 hammocks and a lovely view over the lagoon.
We enjoyed paddling one of their canoes on the lagoon where you can go to a very quiet beach or look for crocodiles and beautiful tropical birds and parrots in the mangroves. Very peaceful!
I would definitely ask Edu and Sabrina to organise trips for you- they arranged for for us to go to the Corcovado National Park and Cano Island for snorkeling and Edu drove us to the departure point on the beach. Both trips are highly recommended- the boat trips to both places are lovely and one day we saw a pod of dolphins on the way. We discovered the Corcovado National Park in a small group with a knowledgeable guide who showed us a lot of different wildlife including tapirs, a boa constrictor and a sloth right at the end of our 4 hour (flat) walk in the tropical forest and along the beach. Our Caño island snorkeling trip was wonderful- so good that we decided to go twice. The guides were great and be aware that life jackets are compulsory when snorkeling for visibility but free diving is possible leaving the life jacket at the surface. We swam and others dived with turtles, many beautiful fish and saw moray eels and white tipped sharks- an amazing experience! All trips finished with a picnic on a beach or a meal in a local restaurant.
All in all we loved our 4 night stay at Encanto lodge which we thoroughly recommend for an authentic, beautiful and peaceful stay with a lovely family in beautiful surroundings. Thank you so much to Edu, Sabrina and your girls for your wonderful welcome!

Me and my partner arrived to Drake Bay after a one night stop in San Jose. We chose to travel by plane (rather than a 10 hour bus journey) which was an amazing experience in itself as we were 2 of only 5 passengers. This offered superb views of the beautiful country. As we landed, the scents of the rainforest hit us immediately. It was like landing in Jurassic Park! Edu met us at the "airport" and drove us to the farm (next door to the runway) via the "supermarket". Plane noise is not a problem though, there are only a couple of flights in and out of Drake every day. It is a surreal experience staying at the farm but one I highly recommend. The cabins are basic with no hot water and the shower is a pipe coming out of the wall. They don't offer a tremendous amount of privacy, as there are mosquito nets instead of windows (there are curtains you can draw) however all this is in keeping with the surroundings and they were kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. We enjoyed getting to know our neighbours at the cabins, sitting out in the evenings in the communal areas with other people from around the world made the experience even better! There are hammocks dotted around the farm with gorgeous views. The walk to the beach is adventurous across the runway, through the forest and over the rickety bridge but a very secluded area almost exclusive for the few guests stopping at the farm. If you turn left for 100-150 metres after the bridge then it's much easier to get in the sea and we enjoyed a swim in the warm water. Edu sorted out our day trips; Corcovado Rainforest and Cano Island Snorkelling (which we highly recommend). He took and collected us for both trips. The kitchen facilities are also basic but good fun improvising with what you can find in the local "supermarket". After Drake we stopped at numerous other destinations across Costa Rica. All felt more luxurious but none came close to the experience that we had at Rio Drake Farm. Bonus note - no critters in the room which is quite amazing considering you are literally stopping in the rainforest surrounded by wild life. Do bring plenty of sun cream and bug spray. Many thanks to Edu and his wonderful family for a memorable trip! Isobel and Matt x

My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the farm. If you don't need 5 star amenities, and have a sense of adventure, do yourself a favor and stay here. We arrived via a Nature Air flight which is the start of the adventure. You land on a gravel runway, complete with mud puddles. Wow! Edu met us at the runway and transported us to the farm. The farm is right next-door. Don't be deterred by the close proximity to the airport, as there are only a couple flights a day. And we thought it was thrilling to watch the airplanes come and go.
There are 3 simple, but cozy rooms with private baths. We stayed in the Kinkajou room. It is an end room, closest to the jungle. We loved the hand painted pictures of local wildlife in the rooms. Most of them were painted by the very talented Sabrina. During our stay, there was no electricity. We brought our own battery operated fans to help us sleep and candles were romantically lit each evening. They will have electricity in the rooms soon as part of a refurbishment with ceiling fans. There are hammocks in front of the rooms and also in the eating area.
The hosts, Edu and Sabrina were so hospitable and gracious. My husband and I both came down with a bug while there, and they went out of there way to pick up special food for us (we ate the town out of plain bread for toast!) and helped us re-arrange our tours on short notice. Edu even took us on a special sloth tour himself. We saw some sloths and toucans. Very special, thank you. Their precious daughter and 2 friendly dogs are an added bonus.
The location is a paradise. We woke up several mornings to the sound of howler monkeys. Exotic birds are abundant, including scarlet macaws and amazon parrots. Jesus Christ lizards scamper humorously across the water on their hind legs. Stunning sunsets from the hammocks on the patio overlooking the lagoon and Cano Island. The short hiking trails transport you deep into the jungle. We saw howler monkeys on the trail to the beach and white faced monkeys on the Monkey trail. The trail to the beach takes you over a scenic suspension bridge, built by the industrious, talented Edu. The beach is stunning and quiet.
For such a simple place, the food is creative and delicious. They have an honor system for purchasing drinks, including bottled water, fruit drinks beer and wine.
There are many tours to choose from. Edu's brother took us on a poisonous dart frog tour which was a highlight of our trip. He successfully found MANY frogs for us during a thunderous rainstorm. It was fantastic.
If you want to disconnect from the world, eat delicious food, listen to the exotic sound of wildlife and take exciting tours, this is the place for you.

I would highly recommend staying at Rio Drake! We were there with a family of 7 (4 kids 7,9,11 and grandparents) for 4 days and we were so happy we chose to stay there. The rooms were the cleanest we stayed in and the property was peaceful and wonderfully maintained. There are multiple places to lounge in hammocks and enjoy the view.
Edu and Sabrina are a lovely couple who go out of there way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Edu made sure there was cold beer in the fridge (plus juice and bottled water). We brought some snacks with us which we were able to keep in a cooler. We ate most of our meals at Rio Drake and they were all delicious (better than the food we had in town). Sabrina and Edu are wonderful cooks and even made mashed potatoes for my son because they had heard the night before they were his favorite. There is also a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals.
We went on on a few tours organized for us by Edu, the Cano Island snorkelling tour, Corcavado Tour and Bug Lady tour and they were all amazing. There are some short hikes to do close to the farm where we enjoyed watching the monkeys in the trees. The beach is an amazing place to watch the sunset. We'd go out there every night with a beer and play bocce ball (brought a sml travel bocce which we played all over CR) and watch the sun set, it was so magical. The waves right in front of the farm were too big for our kids to swim in but we walked further down the deserted beach and found a place for them to swim. Adults would be fine.
The rooms we stayed in had comfortable queen size beds and a bunk bed. We found the rooms a little warm at night but usually took refreshing showers which felt good. Fans in the rooms would help with this but then that would mean the rooms would need electricity and it was so picturesque and serene to walk to the rooms with candles glowing along the path to lead the way and then brush your teeth by candlelight. The kitchen/social area has electricity so you can charge phones and use they're wifi in the evenings.
I did a lot of research before we left and I was torn on whether to stay in town or at the Rio Drake, but we were very happy with our decision. I would recommend staying at this little piece of paradise.
