The house is a wooded building, with an ocean view balcony, located away from the main town, but just 200 meters from the beach; it also has a tropical garden with a lot of forest in the backyard, a lot of wildlife is spotted from the balcony. Yamileth and Pedro Caravaca offer rooms with a ceiling fun, and hot water shower, free breakfast, laundry service, tours with the best guide in the area. The hotel is located in very private place with the best views and the best service.

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. My sister and I booked Casa Bosque room with a kitchenette and a porch that overlooks the ocean of drake bay. It is set on a hillside and as we were there for birding, it did not disappoint. After our tours we would sit on the balcony and watch birds while relaxing. The room was immaculate and had nice wood floors with 3 beds. The large windows were screened in and there was an electric fan to keep air moving through. There is no air conditioning and with the fan we were fine but it does get very hot and humid here so we were sweating during the afternoons a little. At night, it was no problem. As soon as the sun went down, we actually needed a light blanket since it cools down and we slept really well. The bathroom was perfect with a very large shower (it had really hot water but I only used the cold water while we were there). The kitchen was nice to have for making tea in the morning with a full size refrigerator. The staff kept a large bottle of filtered drinking water in the fridge at all times which after long days of hiking in Corcovado was needed. This hotel is set on a step hillside. The walk to the beach where all the boats set off for any tours to Corcovado or Cano island was very short-about 3 -5 minutes. The downside for some people is it is a steep incline down and up. I did not mind since I wanted the exercise and everyday we saw a pair of Mot Mot's on the walk. I also liked the fact that since it is set up higher, the view was magnificent of Drake Bay and set in the trees. We saw so many birds and white face monkeys at this hotel. The beds were comfortable and they were of different firmness so there should be a comfortable bed for everyone. The mosquitos were not bad while we were there but I did use the mosquito netting at night just in case. I rarely used insect spray while there. Yami and Pedro who own Casa Horizontes were really amazing. They were very accommodating as was Martin, who helps out. Since most of the tours from the beach leave at either 6am or 7am, they were so great by having a magnificent breakfast ready very early (I have not been to a hotel that worked breakfast around our schedule such as 5:30am). The traditional breakfast is very good and it is extra but well worth the money. If you like quiet and a serene setting this may be a place for you. The town is also only about 10-15 minute walk max. Keep in mind that people with difficulty walking up and down a steep hill may have trouble but the town does rent ATV 's. My sister and I really enjoyed staying here.

Yami and her family are very warm and hospitable people, we felt very comfortable. The hotel is located quite centrally in Drake Bay, and Yami was able to give us good tips for restaurants and other things in the area. She also helped us organize a trip to the national park. The hotel itself is nice and clean, the view of the bay from the terrace is incredibly beautiful. We can only recommend Casa Horizontes!

I stayed for a full week at Casa Horizontes in Drake Bay and had such a lovely time. The views from the house are stunning, the kitchen is well-equipped, and the town and beach were only a few minutes' walk away. Capuchin monkeys routinely ran across the balcony, and the garden was always packed with birds and butterflies. Yami and Pedro were extremely kind and accommodating. They left beautiful cut flowers in my room, let me use their washing machine, and even gave me a mini Tico cooking lesson! As a solo female traveler, I greatly appreciated all of Yami's open advice for navigating Drake Bay and Pedro's kindness in driving me to the airport at the end of my stay. If you are visiting Drake, this is hands down the best place to stay!

We booked a 4 night stay with Casa Horizontes. Prior to arrival, they were super helpful with information and also to helo coordinate our transfer from the airport.
Upon arrival, the room we were in (Mot Mot) was in the main house and as it turned out, they had rented the rest of the house to one family. That meant that the common spaces were closed and we had to have breakfast in our room. Additionally, the guests they had rented it out to had small kids that were extremely loud starting at 5am and throughout the day.
It was so bad that after two nights, they refunded the remainder of the stay and we moved elsewhere. So it's hard to rate. The family who owns this property is amazing - they were kind and careful, and helped us find a new place.
The Mot Mot room is pretty basic - the noise was loud (but perhaps would be less bad if you didn't have kids staying directly above), there was a bit of a smell in the room as well. The hot water in the shower didn't work. That said, the view was good and there was air conditioning.
Ultimately, the family who owns this property gives 5 stars service and I'm sure it's better if you have your own villa and the common area is opened for breakfast. But given our experience and the hassle we had with moving, 3 was all I could do.

Absolutely gorgeous view of Drake Bay, comfortable beds, relaxing sounds of the jungle & crashing waves with convenient location near town and a short path down to the bay. Yami and Pedro are so kind, welcoming, & accommodating! The breakfasts are delicious, filing, and made to order at whatever time is needed! They are readily available to provide helpful information. Also, they were extremely understanding of our special needs son. We would highly recommend and can't wait to return!

Pedro found us on the beach and drove us the short but steep trip up where we were staying near the main house: the "Casa Bosque" or "Forest House". It doesn't look like much upon arrival besides being adjacent to some trees near the driveway and having an elevated, inclined ramp walkway leading to the door. Inside is an airy cabin with a double bed, two twin beds, an adjoining bathroom and kitchenette. There's two big windows and two ceiling fans, the latter we used on high basically the whole time while inside during the day because it was so hot. The view from the balcony is gorgeous, looking kind of north out over Drake Bay. It's relatively secluded, with lots of vegetation and trees, which on the second day meant we had a bunch of monkeys jumping from our roof to branches right next to us. It was stunning to see them so close, and I've shared a picture of them and a big iguana that was constantly hanging out in one of the trees. The sounds of the birds and forest are almost constant which I loved. We were warmly greeted by Yami, the hostess, and she suggested we connect via whatsapp so she could help arrange tours or answer questions which was nice. She got us a couple spots on a snorkel tour the next day even though it had seemed they were all booked up, which was super helpful. We arranged breakfast timing and whether we wanted gallo pinto or pancakes that way, too. Yami, Pedro, and the rest of the staff are kind and accommodating. I need to lose some weight so the short walk up the steep hill a couple times a day got me closer to that, but since it's so steep and someone in a wheelchair wouldn't be able to access the Casa Bosque I wanted to make a note of it. Overall you do feel like you are suddenly away from the beach and high in a forest, and for the nature immersion alone I'd give it 5 stars. The hospitality was excellent and room had what we needed to ensure we could make the most of it. Thank you Yami and Pedro!

This is such a delightful B&B. It is like staying with family. The owners, Yami and Pedro, and their helper Ronaldo, are so warm and helpful. Their service is 5*. They will get up early to cook breakfast for you before you leave for any early trips you have booked and provide fruit and biscuits on your return. How many hotels will do that? They will do your laundry at a reasonable rate, very helpful as it is so humid in the rainforest and your clothes do get a little bit damp and can definitely only be worn once! If you get the boat from Sierpe they will ask one of the boat captains to look out for you and when you arrive Pedro is waiting on the beach for you! He then drives the very steep road back to the B&B. Pedro and Yami even surprised us one night by picking us up from the tour operator after the night walk. It was a relief as we were exhausted!
The view from the veranda is a stunning 180 degree view of Drake Bay. Here you can sit and relax, watch the birds (a pair of scarlet macaws fly past every day), and chat to other guests.
We stayed in the Carpentero room in the main house which was cosy and clean. We had a shared bathroom with the guests in the room above us. There are mosquito nets on the beds but we found we didn’t need them as there didn’t seem to be many mosquitoes. There is no a/c but the fan helped cool things down a little.
The breakfast is included with your room rate and was delicious. Excellent scrambled eggs and gallo pinto, fruit and pancakes on offer.
We also ate dinner there a couple of nights which was very nice. You need to give them a day’s notice if you want to do this and we paid $16 per person for main course and desert.
The tours that they booked for us (one to Sirena station in Corcovado National Park and the other a night walk) were excellent.
The walk up to the house is very steep so that would be an issue for people with mobility issues. But I am sure Yami and Pedro would do their best to help.
We were very sad to leave.

We stayed here and early January 2024, with two 80-year-olds, our two young adults sons and our two middle-aged selves. We found the hosts incredibly attentive and friendly and interested in making sure we learned everything we wanted to learn and had everything we needed. We did the snorkeling trip, the rainforest tour, and the mangrove tour Would highly recommend this place!

It is not a typical accommodation, it is better than that, nestled surrounded by fauna and vegetation, it is a luxury to be able to sleep surrounded by the sound of nature. Excellent value for money, but the best thing is the staff who always tries in every way to make the stay happy, especially Karen who is always attentive to everything with a smile. Having breakfast while a toucan perches on a tree in front of you is priceless...

After a long dusty drive we arrived at Casa Horizontes, To stretch our legs, we walked out through their beautiful garden to a charming picnic table with the most captivating view across Drake's Bay; it was pure heaven. Our rooms were clean, well-equipped, and charming and we made great use of our beautiful deck overlooking the sea.
We were hot and hungry and asked the hosts if they would make us dinner that evening and huevos rancheros for breakfast, and they happily agreed. Both meals were scrumptious and served on the lovely picnic table with a million dollar view. Later that evening, my cell phone was missing and I realized I left it at the bar in town. It was late, maybe 9 p.m., but Pedro insisted on driving my husband into town to help him find my cell phone. It was still there - thank you Pedro!
Pedro and his wife were just such beautiful people, go see them, the garden, and beautiful Drake's Bay.

We did tour Corcovado. Not sure if you can go on your own, but I suggest a tour as the guides know the terrain, where the animals are. (Monkeys, sloths, agouti, coati, various birds.) Any tour will pick you up near Horizontes. Ask around for guide suggestions...ours wasn't the best and the good guides make a big difference. You can see birds, including toucans, from The porch of Horizontes. Also agouti wandering in the yard (small raccoon like mammal.) we didn't see other animals from Horizontes...Which I would think would be the same from any lodge on Drake Bay.
There are more places to choose from in the Drake Bay area.
