Wheter you like waterfalls, the beach, jungle tours, raw foods, prepped clean delicious vegan meals, juices, fresh herbs, tea's, cacao, yoga, swimming, hiking, lifting weights, jump on the rebounder, sungazing in the morning/evening, sleep or read in your hammock while having excellent views of the valley, loving community life, having a massage or love going to the spa, breath work, light work, book classes; Farm if Life has it all. Want to help in the garden and learn? Go for it. It is a small paradise and I immediately felt at home. Wheter you want to heal physically or delve into your own mind to clear things up by being silent or do meditation: it is all optional. You go at your own pace. One thing is for sure; this place is transformative wheter you go fast or more slow. The hosts, the staff and the volunteers have a special place in my heart. I always wanted to go to the tropics and I am glad I did it at the Farm of Life.

We are at La Finca de Vida at the end of May. It’s rainy season and it rains a lot. We came with bug spray but haven’t used it. It’s remarkable to be in this wet environment with hardly any mosquitoes. The temperature changes throughout the day; it can be cool and breezy – but never cold - or really hot when the sun comes out. In the morning you will likely wake up to a symphony of birds chirping and echoing throughout the forest. Also you may hear birds pitter pattering on the roof of your casa or see hummingbirds flitting about in the flowers near your deck. Colorful flowers and birds are everywhere. The view is so breathtaking! Don’t be surprised if the book you planned to read doesn’t get read. You may find yourself totally mesmerized by the ever-changing vista and sounds of the forest. Brian & Jody have created a magical oasis on this mountain. Just be aware that the terrain is steep. We are in our mid-70’s and found our walking sticks and hiking shoes invaluable for balance and leverage both on the property and on hikes to the waterfalls. Those hikes are challenging. Allow Brian to advise you and always use common sense. No matter what your reason for coming to La Finca de Vida, you will go home with a new self-awareness and definitely a new feeling of well-being. It’s impossible to imagine or describe the experience aside from the obvious beauty and peace of the surroundings. I liken it to another state of being.

This review is way overdue. I met Jody and Brian at the farm in late October of 2020. I had issues that I wanted to address before it was too late in life or no life at all. So I spent three weeks making my smoothies, imbibing juices, teas and fruit during the day with a prepared vegan meal at night. No meat, no cigars, no coffee, and no alcohol..... or "All Stop" as in the Star Trek vernacular. It was the end of the rainy season so for me, it was nice and cool. I enjoyed the mountainous terrain, the plunge pool as well as the swimming pool. My cabin was designed for more peeps but I had complete privacy all to myself and the swinging door for people arriving and people checking out kept my interest sated. Oftentimes, I found myself resting comfortably on the patio of my cabin taking in the birds and storm clouds on the horizon. I took naps, went to bed early and woke up early, no alarm clock needed. Massages were a constant for me, three to four times per week, great masseurs and masseuses. Jody and Brian would go to town near the beach on occasion and I made sure I was on the bus. There are vegan restaurants, juices and of course, the beach. There is something to be said about sitting down in a restaurant where meat and alcohol are served, all the while not being led astray, a sense of fulfillment and staying the course. I encourage participating in the events held a couple of times per day... with special attention to the sound bath, ecstatic dance and meditation. Prior to my visit at the farm, I had a standard panel blood test. Upon my return, I had another. The post blood work revealed an almost text book normal workup while my pre work was lacking sorely. Post workup is the best I have had in 30 years. The entire experience was positive, including my voluntary excommunication from Nexium, which has dictated my regimen for the last twelve years. Prior to that, prilosec, zantac, and others. Oh and tums really should pay me for keeping them in business since I was 16. On Nov 18th, I took my last Nexium. I didn't sleep much that night in fear of what I would become without the purple pill. Happy to report no longer on Nexium. I do need antacids every now and again but I firmly believe the experience at Farm of Life taught me some valuable life lessons I better never forget. I sort of got back in touch with myself. No TV, no cell phones and no politics will do that to a person. I'm still off Nexium (4 months), lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks at the Farm, now holding a loss of 20 pounds, still coming off. Diets and avoiding things not to eat now part of my daily routine. No more coffee, reduced alcoholic intake, reduced cigars, reduced meat. In fact, wife and I treat ourselves to one meal per week where we have a steak, glass of wine and split a decadent dessert. I find myself sometimes forgetting about the weekly steak break. I have more energy, better attitude, and a general sense of well being. All in all, a very easy to follow through transformative experience. I suggest three weeks to all the time you need for this event. There are also three great dogs to help you through your transition. Good luck to those seeking enlightenment. May see you there someday if and when my batteries need recharging.

Being at the farm of life for few weeks a while ago has been one of the best thing I ever did for myself. If you are interested in meeting minded people, living a healthy lifestyle and reconnecting to nature don't look further. This is the place! Everything is well thought, organic, welcoming. You will travel to beautiful places out and in! Why not treat yourself to a well deserved break?

Had an amazing time on my first visit to Costa Rica. Brian, Jody and their staff are so knowledgeable kind warm and generous. The pictures of the farm do not capture the magic you see and feel in person. It is a lovely place to reconnect with mother gaia, jungle nature and ultimately oneself. I participated in all the amenities and activities that created an epic memorable time for me. I came back grounded, peaceful and yet energized and focused on what I want to do in my life. I am most grateful for being able to stay on the farm and for the connections I made with nature myself and others. Thank you!
