On the one hand there’s a nice, relaxed vibe going here, especially around the bar and wooden deck overlooking the river. Staff and management were generally very amicable and helpful, and the homecooked food very tasty. I imagine this place is ideal for campers and overlanders. For us, staying two nights in one of the chalets, it was more rough. We slept very bad. The double bed was not big enough for two grown-ups. There’s no aircon, just a very inefficient fan, making it incredibly hot and stuffy inside. The thin curtains let through any outside light. Also maintenance is slipping, one example being the sliding glass door falling out of its frame. Weighing pros and cons, in my opinion this place was not worth the surprisingly high rates. Do note that, despite this being 2020, they don’t accept credit cards. As we had not enough cash, they graciously let us settle the bill through a bank transfer post-checkout.

Used a camping site. Well shaded but not level. The septic tank behind the site did smell sometimes. Fishing trip was not good. A very large boat/barge was used-4.50mx 12.00m. It was slow and difficult to turn and move around which cut down down our time to fish. Almost all the other guests are friends of the owner and made us feel we are not part of the group. Breakfast not on par for the price you pay. Excessive lighting at night.

We had a night stop at the River lodge. I was so humbled by the way everything was handled from booking to checking out. To start with I wanted 8 family rooms as most of us on the journey had kids but then the family rooms had been fully booked. The owner was kind enough to book us additional rooms for free just to ensure that we had a comfortable stay. By the way I have never been given free rooms so I was skeptical that maybe at checking in, the story will change. It never changed. The hospitality didn't end there, at dinner time some of people wanted to eat some African meals like pap which wasn't on the menu, the Chef went an extra mile and dis it for them. At checking out, we had all prepared to settle the dinner for kids and adults, only to be told that the kids have been exempted. We had about 13 kids. Imagine? And especially when you were ready with a cash to pay. These guys were the best encounter I have had in my travels. Good places like theirs don't normally give discounts. The location is beautiful just by the River, we were able to watch crocodiles from the dining. I am definitely going back and will tell more people about it. It's a place where the needs of the guests come first..

These owners are absolutely set to make guests feel at home. We camped here. Campsites are all facing the river and the views are beautiful. Ablution facilities are basic but quite far from some sites. Just a suggestion to management, what about private ablution facilities between every two campsites? We enjoyed the boat trip.

We camped for 2 months at Rainbow, the owners Deon & Geon, as well as the dog Zeon really made us feel welcome, and could not do enough to make our visit a memorable time! The staff are also friendly and very helpfull. The boattrips were amazing, Amos the boat captain, as well as Deon went out of there way to make it a great trip. Leon even caught a 4kg Tigerfish!! We've visited the 2 nearby National Parks, and saw and Experienced so much. The last night of our stay we stayed in a chalet, very comfortable and clean. The food was great. The bar and braai area is the heart of Rainbow. Thank you Deon, Geon and Zeon for a great time...We Will be Back
