We stayed in the bunkhouse room, private, comfortable bed and kitchen was fully equipped. Located close to Sonoita, easy drive to Patagonia, Arizona trail, and wineries. Karen is easily to talk with and very personable, I think we are now adopted siblings. We are looking forward to our next stay at Xanadu Ranch, don't miss it if in Sonoita.
This was a fun and interesting place to stay. My wife and I definitely enjoyed the privacy, the comfortable bed, the amenities (more on those in a minute), and the view. The reason I mentioned privacy is that you have your own little cabin. So right there, that’s a big selling point to me - no neighbors to speak of. I mean, sure someone could be occupying the cabin across from you, but still, it’s not like you’re sharing a wall by any means. And the place itself is a bit away from the center of town, but the location is still great because it’s convenient to the town of Sonoita (and/or Patagonia, which is another interesting and fun town). I liked the tour of the facility that I got when I arrived. She did a great job showing me around, explaining how things work, how to lock the door, all that, that was an excellent orientation, and she was personable (I wish I could remember her name though). Now, the room/cabin. We chose Casita room #1, and we were happy with it. The bed was very comfortable, the heating/cooling worked well, it has a really nice view out the back (like out the kitchen window in particular but the whole back side has a nice view), and you have plenty of amenities, especially the kitchen/food related items. You have almost a full kitchen. I mean, like an actual STOVE with pots and pans! You can cook your own breakfast easily in here (or obviously cook other things), there’s even a toaster. And a full size refrigerator too, so you can bring food and/or store plenty of wine. And the kitchen area has a table, so you can actually eat IN the kitchen, you don’t have to try to figure out how to eat on your bed or on the couch. Oh yeah, there’s a couch in between the bedroom and kitchen. Satellite television with plenty of choices. I know, I mentioned the view, so why would you be watching television? In our case, it happened to be unusually cold and rainy weather in Sonoita over New Year’s weekend 2021/2022. The bathroom was fine, this may be the one area in which maybe a few improvements would make this place even more enjoyable. The shower is a little quirky. And by “quirky,” I mean it’s not all that easy to figure out exactly how to maneuver the handle/knob in order to get both the right temperature and pressure out of the shower (it’s a kind of small shower). I mean, there’s really nothing wrong with the water pressure, but the temperature can be tricky to figure out - it’s a single handle that tilts. Also, maybe replace the bathroom rugs. But that’s a small nit. Overall, this was a very enjoyable place to stay and we’d stay there again in Sonoita.…
Peaceful setting for someone who wants to get away & enjoy some beautiful country. Our room, which was in a duplex called the bunkhouse, had a queen bed with a full, well-equipped kitchen. The owner was very friendly and showed us everything we needed to know about the room. We wanted to cook breakfast, and the owner obviously thought of everything. It was great to have little things like real coffee creamer instead of powdered stuff!
Clean, neat, and charming, with various amenities that show a great deal of work over time to create. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and proprietor Karen is simply a joy. A mixture of fun, cooperation, outspokenness, humor and astuteness. What could be better!
Location was just perfect. Minutes from town . The staff at the hotel was accommodating and helpful and wanted to be sure our stay was just right. We rented 3 of the rooms . The rooms were stocked with everything you would need.
Karen and her husband Bernie run a great Property. Very clean/cozy and the 5 rooms are different so something for everyone. My friend was really impressed that they accommodate People and their Horses as well. Karen is just a delight. You can tell they like people and what they do. Great location too and easy to find. As a property host myself I can highly recommend a stay here! Plus the clouds and Sunsets are Spectacular.
Very clean rooms, lovely owners and well stocked full kitchen. This is my second time staying here and I will most definitely stay here again. I love the views and the patio spaces and it is such a short trip to the wineries. A very lovely weekend.
Xanadu Ranch is gorgeous - lush green countryside and spectacular 360 views of the sky island mountain ranges! Quiet and peaceful property, great hosts and clean/comfy rooms. The Ranch is right smack in the middle of wine country - lots of great local wineries, breweries and restaurants. Patagonia lake to the west, scenic historic highway 83 to the east. Check in first, Karen will give you a great map of the area and run down of all you need to know to enjoy your time there.
We booked this stay on a last-minute trip to Southern Arizona's wine country. We arrived cold and damp from our rainy hike and the property owner greeted us with a welcome smile. She guided us promptly to our room so we could jump in the shower and get warmed up. She gave us great recommendations for winery visits and meal options. The room was comfortable and quiet. We would definitely stay again.
I stayed for one night at the ranch as part of a bike trip around the region. Although i booked it same day, the room was ready and was pretty much perfect for my needs - got a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed, bath, complimentary snacks in the evening and coffee the next morning, and the ranch is in a great location for a bit of stargazing. The owners were very friendly and I felt 'at home', even for this short stay. There is an idyllic shaded garden with water ornaments round the back, very relaxing. Will definitely be back :)
