We have stayed at The Inn Above Oak Creek a few times. Every time is perfection. Friendly staff, gorgeous rooms and property! My favorite place to stay in Sedona, for sure! We are definitely looking forward to our next visit!
We stayed in room 11 the first day of our trip. We wanted to stay in town one night to walk to dinner, galleries and shops, etc. Was also a perfect place to stay to do an early morning hike to Cathedral Rock. We loved this hotel - it was very clean, very quiet, the bed was comfortable, the view of the creek was lovely. The inn has a continental breakfast of fruit and breads and snacks ready to take with us on our hike. They even left us a bottle of wine for our anniversary. We were very impressed by this stay and would highly recommend.
We stayed here for a week in July. We feel it is possibly the best hotel we've stayed in. The location is nestled in a grove of trees right over Oak Creek in Sedona. It is a boutique hotel with a beautiful lobby opening out to an outdoor deck overlooking the creek. It is a small hotel with two floors. If you want a large hotel with a restaurant/bar and shops and room service this is not for you. If you want a beautiful room with peace and quiet and a great location, this is it. Take a look at other reviews and we think you'll be impressed.
Why can't a hotel say they do not have an elevator on their website. Unfortunately some of us have mobility issues. Don't bother telling the person to check you in because she doesn't care. Hopefully the rest of our stay will be better than the initial visit.
We recently stayed at the Inn for 3 nights while visiting Sedona and surrounding areas. The facilities are beautiful and so are the rooms. We had the pleasure of staying at room 7. The Inn itself is located right in the town of Sedona, walking distance to fabulous restaurants, shops, and all the major tour offices if you booked a sedona adventure. Parking is plentiful at the inn. As in previous reviews no need to drive around, just leave your car at the inn and walk around. A couple of things that you need to know when you stay at this facility (probably due to COVID). There is no maid/room service. No one is going to make your room while you are staying there. Also, there is a "continental breakfast" which feels more like an "airbnb experience" where you have full access to the Inn's kitchen (like when you stay at your friends place), help yourself, and grab the milk/the oj etc from the refrigerator. It was a little confusing to us at first but we quickly figured out where to find everything. In Sedona restaurants tend to serve you really large portions for an entree so we were able to take our leftover food back to the inn, microwave it and eat it comfortably in their patio dining area with no issues. The staff at the inn were nice and polite, they helped with recommendations when asked but not overtly engaging/friendly/welcoming as we have experienced at other inns where we have stayed at. Lastly, a word of caution for room 7 - if you are elderly, have unsteady gait/balance problems you may want to reconsider this room as entry to the shower/jacuzzi can be a little bit tricky. Overall it was a fabulous experience staying there and would stay there again if plans called again for Sedona. Perhaps room service will be back by the time I return.…
The Inn met all our expectations for a relaxing retreat. We had room 5 which has a porch overlooking Oak Creek. Nice deck and beautiful ground for taking in the scenery of Sedona. They offer a small but satisfying selection for breakfast that met our needs each day of the our trip. Even though Sedona can get crowded stepping into the Inn all the crowds disappeared and we felt like we were in a secluded country bed and breakfast.
The inn has a perfect location. You do NOT want to look for parking spaces in Sedona. Stay here and walk to town.....maybe one mile. (You did come here to hike :) Quiet location, situated above the river. Grounds are beautiful. Rooms are not luxurious but very nice..... so is the price :) Four stars for service ? Don't misunderstand....the staff...".hello Kim"....was great.! But the breakfast (included) was ......a little sparse. Explanation was....."the Covid situation".....understandable, but hopefully some sanity will soon prevail. Having stayed in Sedona several times.....I DO recommend this establishment.
Room (#10) was oddly designed and needed some love. Needs paint. Carpet is rippling. Loose tiles in the bathroom. Enormous jet tub is impractical and has a fire sprinkler inside the awkward shower area. My road-facing room was quiet enough to sleep, but I could hear every single car pass by. The room needs more table or desk space. The mattress was spectacular, though. Others have expressed concern about the communal space. I actually like this on hiking trips as you get to meet other adventurers. It didn't really matter this time, though, as the only thing I commonly saw downstairs were hummingbirds. The patio area is beautiful. They have a nice fireplace. Breakfast was subpar. Low-grade packaged breads, cereal, and OJ. It starts at 7:30, which is far too late for anyone who wants to get a parking spot at a trail. I say don’t bother. Location is excellent. Across the street from a very good Mexican restaurant and around the corner from a shopping area. You can walk to dinners from the hotel. The owners have rightly said that prices have gone up since the beforetimes. And my room was cheaper than most alternatives in Sedona. I could overlook the issues noted above, but premium prices should come with higher quality. Just because other hotels have increased prices by 20-40% doesn’t mean that this hotel is worth the same increase as-is. The owners could put this $ back in to the hotel, but clearly aren't. Overall, this is a decent but significantly overpriced place to stay. I’d stay here again for a lower rate, but it definitely isn't worth what they're currently asking.…
Everything about our stay was perfect. First, the property is absolutely beautiful. The location is ideal. We loved that we could walk to shopping and restaurants. Next, Kimberly , the Innkeeper, is so kind and helpful. I saved the best for last…room 12 was FABULOUS! We’ll definitely be back.
Loved this little Inn. It was quaint and so peaceful with the creek in back and all the finches and hummingbird’s in the back. Breakfast is simple but it’s good enough to put a little something in your stomach before you head out. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
