Our family of 4 stayed at Junipine for a few days over the winter holidays. It was a perfect blend between an AirB&B where it feels like a home, and a managed hotel with services on request. Our teen&tween were ready to move in permanently. While it looks like condos outside, the inside felt like a cozy cabin in the woods.
We had a living room fireplace and a bedroom fireplace. There was a sleeping loft upstairs in addition to master bed room and second bedroom, so it was more space than we needed but nice to spread out. The deck was nice but it was too cold to use it. We did not have a hot tub as I’ve read some units have, but as much as I like the idea of it I doubt we would have used it much. We could hear the water flowing from Oak Creek but couldn’t actually see it from our room, however we did have a nice view of the rock formations and trees. We had 2 full bathrooms, supplied with toiletries and towels, and a full kitchen with a keurig coffee machine (pods and creamer/sweetener provided) and basic equipment to cook a meal. Other than the adjacent Table at Junipine restaurant (which was good) there isn’t much nearby so plan meals accordingly.
It’s about 20min drive to Main Street of Sedona (but higher in elevation at Junipine so there was a noticeable difference in temperature and snow). A car is a necessity to get around from here but it is a great base to explore the area and then come home and make a cozy fire. WiFi was good but there was no cell signal in the immediate area. There is a small hiking trail that starts at the edge of the Junipine property that made for a nice walk in the snow one afternoon along the river.
We were in Unit#19. Highly recommend Junipine, this was one of the most comfortable yet relaxed places we’ve stayed. It was so cozy I would have been happy just sitting on the couch with a book watching the snow and drinking tea all day but we also had a great time exploring the parks and hiking trails in the area.

My husband and I just spent 4 blissful nights in a creekside "cabin". The Junipine is a managed condominium complex that's run like a hotel/resort but each unit is individually owned and decorated. The location along Oak Creek is absolutely primo. On a hot weekend everyone within 200 miles wants to be near the creek and each cabin has it's own perch above the roaring, pristine creek. The birds are chirping, the creek is roaring and you don't see/hear the nearby 89A traffic or other guests at all. The cabins are very well equipped. We had a comfy king bed, a wood burning fireplace (wood provided), a hot tub, updated kitchen and million dollar views of the creek. They also have a private trail along the creek that connects with the more strenuous AB Young trail. The wildflowers along the trail are absolutely gorgeous. If you are seeking a true private getaway spot this is it! Keep in mind it will take you 20 minutes drive to get to downtown Sedona so this is not a good choice for visitors who want Sedona red rock views. Best for experienced or repeat Sedona visitors who don't mind a little distance from the madding crowd! Prices are high but we thought it was worth every penny for peace and quiet in an incomparable location.

This is a nice condo setting outside of the main strip of Sedona. Each unit is individually owned so amenities can vary. We found that front desk staff to be very accommodating. We stayed in Unit No. 9 which is a creekside unit. The unit was very clean and well stocked. It has a wrap around deck with plenty of seating. Very nice to sit out there and listen to the creek after a busy day of hiking. We could not see the creek - it is too low to see from the unit but we could hear it. The space is very large with a nice size family room, breakfast/dining area, good size kitchen and a decent size master bedroom and bathroom. There is a wood burning fireplace in the front room and one in the master bedroom. Firewood and fire starters are supplied. The furniture is a bit dated, but, like I noted, each unit is individually owned and this is not a hotel which can afford to bring in new furniture when the old furniture is "dated". The bedding is good but not "Westin good" but we were also not paying Westin prices. It is not cheap but you get a lot more space for your money that you would get for a similar priced hotel room. It is about 1/2 mile from Slide Rock Park and 1/2 mile the other direction from the West Fork Trail. Neither of these are walking distance as you are walking along a very busy highway. The complex itself has bbqs available and plenty of open space for kids to run around in. At night, the only thing we heard was the creek running. No car noises, no street noises, nothing. Made for a great night's sleep. The downsides is that the resort is about a 15 to 20 minute drive down a winding road to the main drag of Sedona. So, I would not advise having to many drinks with dinner. I would even suggest just ordering food to go (as we did on two nights) and enjoying it at the unit. Daily housekeeping is also not done. I do not know if this is standard or a Covid "thing". We did have to ask the staff for extra toilet paper and coffee but that was about it. I think this is a great place for those with kids or those who just want to be out of the "noise" and are in Sedona mainly for hiking. If you want to be walking distance to the restaurants and the tourist shops (fun but very touristy), then you would be better off staying in the main area.

Came here for a quiet weekend. Upon arrival, greeted by desk staff wearing a paper mask so ancient it was only one layer — like covering your mouth with one Kleenex all day long for days. Does management not care enough to invest in a new mask everyday for front line workers? Woke up to find that the villa had no paper towels, no dishwasher soap, a single roll of toilet paper, one very stained kitchen towel with a hole in it, and a blanket with bits of a previous guest’s bodily fluids, as well as two dishes in the cabinet covered in bright strange unwashed substances. Reported this to desk clerk at 8, around 5 received paper goods, dishwasher tabs and new blanket at door from unmasked staff. Website clearly indicates restaurant and bar are open for dine in — that is part of why we picked this place over others and planned our day to eat there. Except, they’re not open except for room service with 24 hours notice in advance. Would it be too much trouble to put this on your website, and to tell people when they check in? There is no spray cleaner of any type to wash off a table, counter or stovetop and rooms are not cleaned during your stay without an extra charge. Could you not splash out $2 for a bottle of method cleaner or 25 cents for one of vinegar and water? The setting is beautiful, but that’s all this place has to recommend it.

Dear Loneladytraveler, Thank you for taking time out of your day to share your candid feedback with us on your recent stay at Junipine Resort. I was very disappointed to read that your time with us fell short of your expectations. I extend my sincere apologies that your experience was anything less than perfect. I want to ensure you that I acknowledge your observations and take them very seriously. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team members is our highest priority. Though my apology and my reply will not alter the outcome of your stay, I hope you will allow me the opportunity to speak to you directly. We strive to provide our guests a lasting and positive impression of our Resort. It seems that we did not meet our standard and for that, I am truly sorry. As I mentioned, I do not take your concerns lightly and our COVID-19 protocols are rigidly enforced with our team. Any variance to our protocols will be corrected and I will take the necessary steps to address the areas that left you feeling frustrated and questioning the cleanliness of your creek home. This is not a typical guest experience at our property, but that does not diminish my focus and concern regarding your experience. I again want to extend my thanks for providing us the opportunity to improve in the areas we fell short. I look forward to speaking with you directly. Gianna Day General Manager 928-713-9374

Booked via advertised 'local deal' including breakfast. Tried to check in at 3pm (advertised check-in time) but room not ready until 5:30pm. $571 was a lot to pay being short-changed 2.5 hours of planned enjoyment of hot tub suite. Had to ask for the breakfast package - for this price it should have been offered. Check in staff did not care that room was not ready, and housekeeping staff was disgruntled that we wanted to leave our bags in room. Given COVID times, we were glad to pay the fee (resort was scarcely populated) to support local business, but for this price, we expected a staff that would at least apologize for the inconvenience / impact to a carefully planned and rare night away.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in February 2020 and could not be happier with this location and accommodation. We had a king “room” which was more like a small home with a private jacuzzi on the deck. This whole area is reminiscent of Big Sur on the California coast, but instead of ocean, there were red rock cliffs, green trees and the sound of the river running over the rocky riverbed. We had fireplace in the main living room and one in the bedroom, double sinks in the bathroom, two flatscreen TVs, full size refrigerator and a dishwasher. The employees behind the counter were extremely helpful and kind as well. We left here and drove to Vegas for three nights. Our only regret was not staying here longer and in Vegas less.

Wow on every count. I was so impressed with Junipine Resort it far exceeded my expectations from friendly staff to the beautiful room (more like a large apartment) with a deck overlooking the mountains and creek. Incredibly comfortable and peaceful with a ton of amenities, there was even a bottle of wine waiting in the refrigerator, along with plenty of firewood for the fire. I can't wait to go back!

I was nervous to stay here because it looked pretty rustic in the pictures and I have high standards BUT was swayed by all the positive reviews on here. I could not be more underwhelmed with this place. We stayed with 3 other couples for a birthday and all had our own rooms. Creek view with hot tub, rooms 3,5, & 7 and forrest view hot tub 32. My room was filthy; surprising considering covid. The carpets in all rooms were so stained and dirty I didn't even want to walk on them barefoot, mirrors smudged, dishes left in the dishwasher, garbage disposal stench in 7, old ice cream in the freezer in 32, dirty pans, no AC, and so on. For $450 a night I expect a clean room and daily housekeeping, which they don't offer even though they left tip envelopes in each room. Of the 3 creek views only one had a true creek view; room 3. Parking lot, road, and common area views for 5 & 7. Rate was the same on all so I wasn't happy with my "creek view". The forrest view(32) was nicer than the view from 5 & 7 and nearly 100 less per night. Hot tubs were all fine, except mine which had an overabundance of chemicals in it. Turning on the jets caused a vapor mist burned your lungs and caused everyone to cough. I guess that's better than it being green though. Decor is varied by room because they are all privately owned and some people have terrible taste and don't maintain things properly. Room seven was very dated and had odd carved mantles. Room 32 was cleanest and nicest decor.
I called the desk and let them know I was unhappy with the condition of my room and asked to switch. I was told there were no other rooms available, and that creek view rooms were the most modern. The girl was nice but nothing was accomplished or resolved. Honestly I cannot understand how this place got good reviews. I would never stay here again, nor would I ever recommend this place to anyone. Luckily we spent very little time at the hotel so it didn't ruin our trip.

Dear ScottsCityGirl, I want to thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave us your feedback on your recent stay. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. We pride ourselves on providing a truly unique and special stay to every guest. I am extremely apologetic that your time with us did not meet your expectations. Our goal is for every patron to feel like they are taken care of and provided with great guest service. It is truly unacceptable that your creek house was found anything less than spotless. I do not take your concerns lightly and will be addressing them immediately with my team. The safety of our guests is of the highest importance and it seems that we did not meet our usual cleaning standards during your stay. I welcome you to call me directly so we discuss your stay further and hopefully remedy some of the frustration that you felt after your time with us. I hope that you accept my offer and call me directly. I again apologize that your stay was anything less than perfection. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you. $1200 for a 2 night stay should include basic amenities. This place didnt even provide standard ones offered at a basic motel. Advertised WiFi was sketchy. We had to go to the office repeatedly to try to get service for necessary internet business. Finally got a booster that gave adequate connections after many tries and wasted time. We had been assured when booking this wouldnt be a problem. We were told at registration"No housekeeping but you can request what you need." We were given ONE bath towel each - who wants to hike up the hill in the cold to beg for towels, soap, coffee pods, etc. I have never seen a resort hand out items in such a chintzy, piecemeal way AND require the patron to do the legwork. Advertised fireplaces are useless since the firewood provided was so wet it wouldnt burn. We did coax a few flames out of one log but finally gave up. But THE WORST - NO HOT WATER. Our attempts to work with the totally unprofessional staff was useless. No manager on site, no contact info for the manager, repair guy wouldnt show up for hours, no cooperation to MAYBE take maybe showers in another unit and absolute refusal to let us do late checkout when the repair guy finally showed up on the last day 1 hour before checkout time. It took 1/2 hour for the water to become even bearably warm and for 4 people take showers under a drizzle of water from unbelievably low water pressure in under an hour. The rude insulting staff acted as though all of these problems were our fault. Such a shame since our cabin was beautiful and the gounds are amazing. If there was a way to ruin that experience these people did it. We stayed at the Cabin by the Creek.

Dear KarenO473, I first want to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review with your candid feedback and provide us with insight on the areas that we need to approve upon. I also want to apologize that you felt that the service you were provided fell short of other properties. We pride ourselves on providing top-notch guest service and in most cases will go above and beyond to make our guests comfortable. Given the feedback on your stay, that was not your experience, and for that, I apologize immensely. Although my apologies after the fact do not change the outcome of your stay, I am hopeful you will provide me with the opportunity to speak with you directly and hopefully I can help change your impression of our business. I want to ensure that I do not take your concerns lightly and will be making the appropriate changes, as well as discussing the above-mentioned items with each department involved. None of which you mentioned are acceptable or mirror the service that is typically provided by my team. In addition, I will be sure to share your feedback about the wifi with the HOA, who manages the TV and internet services for the property, as those are basic features that are advertised and should be available to you. I want to apologize again for the inconveniences you experienced and hope you will reach out to me directly so I can hopefully rectify the issues. Many thanks, Gianna Day - General Manager 928-282-3375

This is the 1st time I can actually write a review and say the pictures don't do justice. The place is beautiful! Fantastic cabin feeling with all of the modern amenities! Full kitchen. We brought all of our food and never left the cabin. To be able to hear the creek all day and night, take a nap out on a private porch, light a fire and watch a movie at night, AND have private, easy access to the creek or picnic area anytime you want just footsteps away....WOW.

The staff is so polite and wonderful. I asked for a cabin with minimal steps and for them to be able to accommodate us with the bedrooms on the bottom floor was awesome.

You truly get what you pay for and never have a regret. We will be going back. It's worth every penny!
Thank you Junipine Resort for such a wonderful stay!
