A Sunset Chateau garners high marks for its exceptional service, with guests frequently commending the friendly and attentive staff, despite occasional reports of dismissiveness. The amenities, including the tranquil pool, scenic landscaped grounds, and delectable breakfast, contribute to the hotel's magical charm, as does the inviting atmosphere with its unique and tastefully eclectic decor.
While the comfortable rooms boast impressive views, some guests suggest updates are needed. The hotel's location is celebrated for its serene yet accessible setting, although opinions on value vary, with some guests feeling the prices are steep.

Detailed Reviews
The Sunset Chateau is in a great location with incredible views from many of it's thoughtfully designed and decorated suites. The grounds are beautifully landscaped to create a quiet sanctuary away from town, but literally less than a mile from famous restaurants and shopping venues. The included breakfast is excellent too! In fact, I would give it 5+ stars if the bed was better. Unfortunately, the bed in our suite was so soft and mushy that neither my wife nor I slept well. Our adult children who stayed in a second suite had the same complaint. I spoke to a representative of Sunset Chateau who told me that they replace all of the mattresses regularly, but the ones they select are either very poor quality or simply the softest version made. It's sad, because this could easily become our "go to" place, but we will not return until we know they have replaced their existing mattresses with better quality ones that are more comfortable.

We stayed in a two bedroom/two bath suite. The suite was very spacious with room for four of us to spread out. Our suite was spotless and we were provided plenty of towells, toiletries, etc. Our rooms were serviced every day, which was nice. The view from our balcony was incredible. The property overall was very quiet - we never heard any of our neighbors. There were mostly adults there during our stay which may be why it was so quiet. Breakfast is included and the menu changed daily; there was a daily special and, if you did not like the special, there were other options available. The staff was great. Lovely resort, lovely stay! Would 100% recommend.

Our room was a one bedroom suite with the view of the red rocks featured on their website. The room was beautifully and appropriately decorated in southwestern style, beds were comfy, including the murphy bed. Much prefer a murphy to a painful sofa bed any day! The kitchen stocked with utensils and cookware for preparing quick meals. Breakfast is made fresh daily. There is a hiking path across the street that leads to a couple of trials, including airport mesa. Airport Mesa was our favorite vortex site, and takes about 30-40 minutes to hike to from the hotel. Pool was pleasant, there were a couple of quails that would also walk through at times, and hummingbirds in front every morning. This location is also a bit out of the way from the kitschy shops and new agey businesses, with less traffic, which was perfect for us.

It sounds like you had an absolutely wonderful experience at A Sunset Chateau! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your one-bedroom suite with its stunning view of the red rocks, just as featured on the website. It's great that the southwestern-style decoration resonated with you and that the beds, including the murphy bed, provided a comfortable stay. We agree, a murphy bed can make a significant difference in comfort compared to a sofa bed. The convenience of a well-stocked kitchen for preparing quick meals seems to have added to the overall comfort of your stay. The fact that breakfast is freshly made each day is a testament to the dedication of the staff to provide a top-notch experience. It's fantastic that you found the hiking path across the street to be a great feature, leading to various trails including the Airport Mesa. Your description of the hike and the mesmerizing vortex site at Airport Mesa is captivating and gives potential visitors a clear idea of what to expect. The presence of quails and hummingbirds certainly adds to the charming atmosphere of the location. It's evident that you appreciated the serene setting away from the more bustling parts of town, making for a peaceful and rejuvenating stay. Thank you for sharing your detailed review of A Sunset Chateau. It's clear that you had a memorable and enjoyable stay, and your insights will undoubtedly help other travelers make informed decisions when choosing their accommodations in Sedona. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back for another delightful stay in the future!

We arrived at the hotel after 8 hours of driving. It was nice to walk into clean suite. The rooms were quite which was very nice and parking was right there by the suite so shlepping the suitcases and cooler was not really an issue. We did not have a view from our room but it was not an issue since we spend little time in our room. We came in December so sitting outside in the evening was not something we could do , too cold, but I can see how it would be nice in the spring or fall. The view from the entrance to the room was really nice and there were outside couches so you could have dinner outside and enjoy the view. The property was very nice and well taken care of. The breakfast was included and had to be ordered. The choice of omelette iwas given if you do not want the breakfast of the day which was nice because we did use the substituion one time. The regular juice , milk cereal, coffe tea was also available. It was nice to have breakfast included as we did not have to think where to go to eat to start our day.
The kitchen was fully stocked but for the dishwasher. I would have prefered not to leave the dishes to be cleaned by cleaning people by hand. It also had a small refrigeratorand microwave which we used and were very happy to have.
We stayed for three nights. The restocking of coffee and tea was not done nor the toaletries replaced but otherwise the room was cleaned well and towels replaced. The water preasure was very good. The lotion and shampoo and coditioner were not of good quality. The lotion would not absorb well at all.
Bring slipers as the floors are stone and are very cold. I understand the reason for the stone floors as in the summer it mush hit over 100F but still bring the slippers.
The bed was adequite but would would have been nice if the mattress were pillow top or at lest had a mattress topper. The towels were good. And in general I would definately stay in this hotel again but bring my own toiletries. I am giving three stars but if the issues I poined out would be taken care of it would be a solid 4 star hotel. If I am every in Sedona I would definately stay here again

ASC is absolutely one of the best B&Bs ever and has to rank up there with one of the best hotels and/or resorts. Our Vista Montana suite was beautifully appointed and felt like home. The room had one of the best views off the front “porch” than can be appreciated just from looking at photos. Everything about the room including the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room seems to have been thought out thoroughly and resulted in a great stay. The breakfasts (included in the room rate) were delicious, and we found no need or want to go out elsewhere for breakfast. Service at ASC is very professional, polite and friendly. Prices are not cheap, but worth it. We are from out of state and would more than likely stay at ASC next time we visit Sedona.

Tucked in around the mountains in beautiful resort style, this property is the best of the best in Sedona. The owners can seen mingling with the guests in the breakfast room everyday making sure they are 100% accommodated while chatting in a friendly manner. They are very ‘down to earth’ and very approachable in their manner. The gourmet breakfasts are way beyond the standards of other establishments and they are prepared by the owner’s son who is a chef.
The casitas are all exquisitely decorated by the owner herself who is an Interior Designer. Each one is done differently with many different looks so there is something for everyone. You can actually request which casita you would like while making reservations. Cleanliness of the rooms is exceptional. Each room is furnished with four fluffy towels so you can shower after hiking and then again in the morning with a fresh towel. The beds are comfortable. Everything you would need to cook with is already in the kitchen including, pots and pans, glassware, sharp knives and silverware. There is also dish soap and sponges to wash them with.
This resort is worth every penny! We will definitely be back. Book early, they fill up fast!

A great “home base” for exploring Sedona. With a nice little kitchenette (with a 5 cup coffee pot that has filters to bring your own coffee or use their packs of coffee) and a great balcony and view.
Spacious room that would work well for up to a week or two so of storage depending on the season.
The breakfast was just fine, with a daily special or eggs, meat and toast was an option. Service was attentive and drinks and cereal was at a self serve bar.
The location seemed to be just a couple of minutes to every spot in Sedona we wanted to go so perfect on that.
I would say definitely a place we will strongly consider staying again if we are in Sedona!

The upside…….so breakfast was great every morning and the staff at breakfast was also great. Lots of great extras beside the main breakfast menu/food, like Starbucks coffee, oatmeal, juice etc. The hot tub and the pool were maintained and overall grounds are very nice and relaxing as is the fire pit.
The downside……..beds are in my opinion past time to be replaced, very uncomfortable and sheets are like sleeping between 2 pieces of sandpaper. When we arrived the person behind the desk didn’t introduce himself to us, which I find odd for a B&B type environment. Parking a p/u truck can be a bit of a challenge based on the location, but it can be done, just be careful.
Overall a great location as you are away from the hustle and bustle of the town but close enough to get to wherever you want to go. The view was great from our Room #17.
Most likely would not return until they replace the beds and sheets, both of which are, at least to me, very important.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast, our hot tub, pool, and the relaxing atmosphere of the fire pit and grounds. We’re truly sorry to hear that the beds and sheets weren’t comfortable for you. We use a premium tuxedo-stripe sheeting which is textured but we understand it may not be to everyone’s preference and will keep that in mind as we continually replace our bedding. We also have a rigorous mattress replacement schedule, replacing them every 4 years to ensure the best possible comfort and use only premium mattresses, but we’re sorry that it didn’t meet your expectations during your stay. Regarding the front desk experience, we apologize that our staff didn’t introduce themselves to you upon arrival. We value personal interactions and will certainly remind our team to provide a more welcoming first impression for future guests. We’re glad you enjoyed the location, as it’s one of the highlights of our property—peaceful and quiet, yet still close to all the attractions. And, of course, we’re happy that you appreciated the beautiful red rock view from your room. Thank you for your feedback. While we’re sorry that your experience wasn’t ideal in some areas, we truly value your input and will use it to improve our guest experience. We’d love to welcome you back in the future if you decide to give us another chance. All The Best,

We were disappointed with our stay at the Sunset Chateau but still had a great time in Sedona. This hotel is very nice, clean, quiet and in an excellent location close to everything you may want- hiking, main attractions, restaurants, etc. It was not luxury accommodations though. The cushions on the patio sets outside of each room were extremely thin, cheap, stained and uncomfortable. The patio is such a nice area to hang out after a long day of hiking, or in the morning for coffee. But it was just too uncomfortable. Rooms need updating, although bathrooms were updated and nice. Pool is small- the first day, pool equipment was left out around the pool including a large skimmer with dirt and debris. Clean large towels were always available at the pool which was a plus. Breakfast was awful. Only 1 main breakfast item is offered, and if you didn't want it, very salty eggs were the only other option. Coffee was horrible too. We ended up eating off-site for breakfast which was a giant bummer since breakfast was advertised as "gourmet" and included in the cost of the room. Parking was easy and a space always available. Overall, we have mixed feelings about our stay and probably would look elsewhere if we travel this way again.

Dear Guest, we are so sorry to hear that your stay with us was not entirely satisfactory and I will try and address your concerns. We appreciate that you enjoyed the cleanliness of our suites, our quiet, secluded location and our proximity to some of Sedona's finest restaurants, galleries. hikes and attractions. Regarding the cushions on the outside furniture, we have purchased new sectionals outside of every suite, with plush comfortable cushions. We also have very comfortable day beds on an upper patio behind the pool for those guests who want to lounge near the pool where we are surrounded by lovey Red Rock mountains. You mentioned that pool equipment was left out around the pool, but this only happens if a guest enters the pool area while our staff are cleaning the pool in the early morning hours. Regarding our breakfasts, we have 7 rotating meals that are entirely different each day, and should a guest not want to eat that particular gourmet meal of the day, we provide a simpler option of scrambled eggs with toast/ham/sausage, fresh fruit and beverages. We are surprised that you did not enjoy the Starbucks coffee that we provide for our guests, which most of the guests truly enjoy. We appreciate your comments and always take any negative criticisms very seriously and do our best to correct or improve anything we can to better accommodate our guests.

A wonderful boutique bed and breakfast. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Sedona. It is quiet, our room was beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. We appreciated the notebook with manuels on how to use everything and all the recommendations and other useful information. The beds were comfortable. It was so nice to have a shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispenser in the shower and hand soap and lotion dispenser at the sink. We enjoyed making ourselves comfortable on the leather sectional couch. And enjoyed walking out in the beautifully landscaped garden that had lights, in the evening. The dining room was also beautifully furnished and the breakfast was delicious. Nice that we were waited on. The staff were all friendly and helpful and fun to chat with the owner who came up to say hello at breakfast out on the patio.

Hello, that is correct that there is one main special entree that rotates daily and there is always also the option for eggs any style with a choice of toast and meat.
