I came across Camp Avalon on a whim when the other campgrounds I planned to stay in were full. I appreciated that I could book online and knew for certain that a spot would be awaiting me upon arrival. Haus the manager was so friendly and warm, he made me feel comfortable as a single woman camping alone by offering his assistance, selecting a good site for me and telling me a bit about my neighbors. The setting is peaceful and the community of other campers was the best part. My neighbor made me tea in the morning, I watched a beautiful sunrise and met other campers who were very friendly and like minded. I would definitely recommend this site. For those who are energetically inclined, I could definitely feel a strong positive energetic presence.

This is an amazing spot. The owners of this campsite could have easily sold the place for millions; however, it is there intention to make this sacred spot available to those who seek to maintain a sacred relationship with the land. The caretakers of this property are big hearted, good people, and we plan to return again!

Unfortunately this place is not like it shows it is. Read both good and bad reviews. Literally smack dab in a residential area with a lot of construction running right past camp for a masterplanned development. There were a lot of loud campers and noise the two nights we stayed. They allow day visitors to come to the camp which doesn't make sense to me, a lot of vehicles in a small area and more noise. There is no beach that belongs to the camp like pictured. It's very deceiving and small not really a beach. I read the review about the beach property and owners. I was told by another camper that cut their stay short that there's a long standing law suit because the camp recently started business as a religious place this camp and were telling campers they owned all the property, which is not true. Too many people think they can go wherever they want and disrupt wild life and other peoples property ... I can't blame the owner's for signs as I saw some guys urinating in the creek which runs down stream. People have ZERO respect. A lady at a mailbox just outside of the camp said to be careful because the camp is ran by a cult out of Tucson. Not sure what that exactly means nor do I care, just disappointed by the destruction they have done to this nice area ... just to make money off campers. Saw a dead Javalina by the entrance as we left early morning. Obviously hit by a car at night ... sad too many people pushing animals out. I love Sedona, but this was a definite bummer.

I have now stayed at Camp Avalon twice and both times was a pleasant experience. They are making some changes to the grounds currently and I cant wait to see what they do with it. I was slightly disappointed that the sandy area was blocked off. when I asked about it staff had informed me that is not their property I was told and the owners have blocked it off and they were not sure why. I don't fault them for this because they have no control over what the property owner does. Its such a shame that people are greedy with natures beauty. They keep the grounds maintained and faculties are always clean when we have been there. The staff is friendly. I love the feel of the retreat. I read reviews that state its in a residential area and it is so you do have to be respectful of that and peoples property. There are recreation areas and hiking less then a 5 minute drive from the camp that is hardly an inconvenience to follow the rules of the surrounding property.

Ok so ... girls camp out in Sedona turned nightmare! Beautiful Sedona ( I've often visited) but this place is freaky. It was far from Sedona itself and is surrounded by really mean neighbors! Everywhere we tried to walk we were told by people who live there that its all private property! OMG all the signs! "Armed Ranchers!" - " 24 hr Video surveillance" - " NO TRESPASSING! " Wow!!!! Obviously we are not wanted there or at least the " Religious Cult" is not!!!! Yup! I read the latest review before we booked and thought really? But seriously we did not feel safe there at night and the creek area is so squishy small not like the photos at all! There was this creepy sort of hippie guy who checked us in and I swear we felt like we were being video tapped! Well, we were told by The Local Juciery guy that people are pissed this Cult came back in to town, but not my deal. Just don't stay at this camp especially if your young females. p.s. dead grass - no clean facilities and road construction noise.
