I’ve been here before and had a good time. We made plans to be here this week but had to cancel. I called for help and the girl said they could refund half my points which I accepted. Upon talking to the manager she told me no refund could be given regardless of what I was told. Many hotels offer 24 hours cancellation. Please book here with caution.
The Boulders sits way north of Scottsdale in Carefree. Nestled in the desert, we loved the wildlife and serenity of the desert. No traffic noise to be heard. Service was exemplary; staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Their eager-to-please attitudes were contagious. We enjoyed a variety of food options - all fresh, artfully crafted and 'non-hotel'. Lots of walking and hiking trails and more wildlife than expected! Six days there and each day had new adventures. We particularly appreciated the option of an adult only pool and a family pool. The beds in the casitas were the most comfortable beds ever. The walk-out patio (covered) was used every evening as we watched the sunset in the desert.
Hadn’t stayed here in years and was pleasantly surprised by what a perfect retreat this resort still is. Even better than ever. Very nice staff wherever we went. What a treat the large rooms are and well appointed. Very cozy and comfortable. A perfect room for this setting. The views are incredible. Will definitely be back!
Nestled amongst the desert hills, this resort is peaceful and relaxing. The night sky and landscape lighting were magnificent. The lounge was exceptional with possibly the best dirty martini I've had. Service was fantastic and friendly.
The Boulders used to be one of the best places to stay in az. Sadly not anymore. Rooms are great. Golf even better! Make reservations for dinner off site. The F&B is less than desirable. The resort offers golf cart transport and the guys are awesome! Go offsite and spend your money.
As diamond members, I expected more, excellent food, drinks etc. the resort was great, fabulous service for sure, but the rooms were a bit grimy and in need of upgrades. Bench covers and bedding were dingy and not up to standards for a Hilton, but as a huge 1300 acre resort, we enjoyed ourselves, the food truly was mediocre at best, the same basically wherever you went. Pool food spilled over into lounge food etc, also very expensive, very! We totally enjoyed our time but hope they upgrade the rooms and food. The bell staff was unsurpassed, they are at your beck and call day and night, happy to take you anywhere! Spa services were excellent, totally enjoyed my spa day! Pools are clean and well kept.
I really wanted this to be a relaxing pre-birthday local getaway. I really wanted this resort to have the same higher standards it had when I stayed there pre-pandemic. Unfortunately, it wasn’t what I hoped for and this is a warning to those considering a stay here. Plus: great fitness center; decent bed, robe and slippers, desert views. Minus: signage to my room, entryway/ door to my room, coffee machine in the room that kept dropping coffee grounds in to my coffee, stained furniture, cracking paint in bathroom ceiling, hearing the flush and water flow from the room below me, traffic noise from the spa pool…see attached photos. Basically …$500 for two night that I wish I could get back. I’ve traveled the world and stayed in a member of truly 5-star hotels/resorts. This is not 5-star more like 3 star at best. Seriously, the Hampton Inn in the area would have save me $$$ and given me so much more.…
we felt as though we were being railroaded by the insistence that we take the golf carts everywhere and the need to tip everyone every time! At one point, we took a cart to the lobby (1minute ride) and then transfer onto a shuttle (3 minute ride) and tip both times. then again, going back....we spent a total of 45.00 in tips alone for one day. Worst part, was later that evening we had gone for a drive around Cave Creek and wanted to go to the spotted donkey for dinner. I called to get directions and the Host (male) was rude and said "just take the golf cart" and i told him that i was driving and he insisted that "it's more fun to take the golf cart"and i hung up on him. i finally found the hidden restaurant and the host was such a jerk. then, the cleaning ladies walked in on my husband (NO KNOCK ON THE DOOR) in the bathroom and when we told the manager he said "well, it's a cantina and that stuff happens!" Terrible service, terrible. …
We were looking to escape for one night and have a get away. Once we arrived and checked in we were excited with the shuttle service we were told to use through out the stay. Things took a turn real quick. Someone threw up in the main pool that was supposed to be open 24/7 (big reason we chose the location). So they opened the club pool and if I was paying a membership to that pool it would have been canceled long ago. There was missing tile from the side of the pool and seemed to have not skimmed the debris for 3-4 days. The one bright side to the night was the amazing food at The Grill. I had the filet and my wife had the pasta. Both were absolutely amazing and we didn’t say a word once we took our first bite. We tried our best to enjoy the trip but just could not talk ourselves out of driving over an hour to not stay in the room any longer. My wife went to take a shower which still had the previous guests hair all over in the bathroom stall sized shower. Finally, time for bed we thought… nope the sheets were covered in specs and dirty. Being from the valley we understand that there can be critters in your room but it looked as if the maids and hotel didn’t even care and invited them into the room. Multiple spider webs on the ceiling and no possibility that a pest team sprayed that room to keep them from entering. Last straw was the request (because you have to park your car in a lot away from your room) to be picked up and taken to our car. We did not receive a response from the “24/7” shuttle team for 30 minutes so we decided to walk. Thankfully a golf cart was driving by after we were already half way to the lobby and they took us the rest of the way. We stayed a total of 6 hours and spent roughly 1 hour in the room before calling it quits. I would recommend against this “5 star” hotel and choose a 2 star instead as the probably clean and care about the customer much more from past experience…
My daughter and I stayed here after her graduation. The room was great! The beds were comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower. It was beautiful! The views from the room were amazing. Wonderful service at the restaurants, as well as good food. We had great service at the Spa. The massage was relaxing! Exactly what we needed! When you relax at the pool, the views are breathtaking. I would definitely recommend!
