My room type was sold out and a huge inconvenience in having to change a room for two nights after one night. The front desk rep told me had I booked directly with Hyatt that wouldn't have happened. Not the response you tell a guest checking in, that "this happens more than you can imagine". Overall a bad first impression of the hotel. Nice property but I will never stay here again. Many options in Scottsdale and won't have to worry about getting bumped.

The common areas make a good impression, the grounds are lovely, the people who work there are helpful and nice, the place is -- by and large -- clean, and the location is convenient to get to other places in Scottsdale and the Valley. But it's dated, quite well worn in parts, and the WiFi is unacceptably weak. We were here for a wedding and this property was its designated hotel... super close to the events. We decided to reserve the Executive Suite, which was absurdly large for 2 people, with two living room-type spaces, a huge dining room, plus a bedroom. As the name conveys, the space is ideal for when the president of a company that is having their annual convention on site wants to host a reception... back in the 1980s. I think the biggest contributor to the (unpleasant) vintage feel is the room's old, dingy carpeting. If they ripped it out and replaced it with tile -- much more fitting with the motif anyway -- it would do wonders in freshening things up. The furniture was a bit dinged but not offensively so; and even though there was nothing modern about the bathroom, if they just replaced some of the shabbier fixtures, it would also be a huge improvement. (Relatively) easy fixes that would elevate the look and feel of the room tremendously. In this day and age, having Wifi that was as slow and unreliable as what the hotel has set up here is not good at all... and it's the main reason why I rated it a 3 instead of a 4. They need to do better. And yet, I liked having the smaller pool -- which I believe is only accessible to guests of the suites -- directly outside the room. The water was a bit chilly during our late November visit, but I enjoyed basking in the sunshine on the loungers. I'm almost certain that we'll stay somewhere else if we return to Scottsdale. But I've definitely seen worse.

Had a poolside room and next to the gate to the pool. Loud bangs throughout the night with the gate slamming (room 186). Must be thin walls. Kept waking us up through the night. It was our anniversary weekend, so kind of a bummer. Had a massage lined up for 9 the following morning but since we slept horribly, cancelled the massages. There was a dead bug on the ceiling of the bathroom, kind of off putting. Grounds seem nice, but didn’t get to enjoy them.

This hotel lacks customer service, does not offer hospitality and disrespects their guests. Upon checking into the hotel, the front desk clerk was not friendly and rude. The room was left dirty as leftover makeup was all over the vanity area of the bathroom. We went to dinner at Kitchen West (their onsite restaurant) that night and received awful service. We were not greeted by the server until sitting down for 10 minutes. There was no communication from the server and he was very rude and treated us poorly. During our stay, we brought our puppy who unfortunately begun crying when we left for breakfast in the morning. We received ONE phone call about the complaints, before receiving one other phone call while we were parking. We notified the front desk clerk that we were running to the room to care for our puppy. She hung up on us, and when we got to our room, our puppy was no longer there. The puppies were with the manager who had them outside, without a leash on, and had fed them a weeks worth of food. Their stomachs were bloated and one of them, threw up all over the front office. We cannot believe that our puppies were removed from our room and that the manager took it upon himself to feed them and leave them outside without a leash. What if they were to have run away? What if another dog/animal were to have harmed them? What if we were to have to call the vet because they were extremely overfed? None of these items were considered by the manager who very unkindly argued with us at the hotel and did not apologize nor care that what he did was very wrong. He was very rude and disrespectful. We will never stay at this hotel again and if you want to be respected and treated well, we recommend you don't stay here either.
