Terrible experience. Locked out of our room for over an hour, rude staff, and the facilities are much more run down than the photos make it seem. Had staff trying to get into our room to clean repeatedly an hour before our checkout time as we were trying to get packed and ready. If staying in Scottsdale, I would recommend spending a little extra for better quality experience and assurance you won’t run into stressful issues with poor service.
the Saguaro is a terrific boutique hotel centrally located in Old Scottsdale - great amenities with a great staff led by the wonderful General Manager. Be sure and reserve a cabana! Moderately priced , clean and naturally attractive, I highly recomend it to any one looking for a little R and R in Arizona!
Not a business-friendly hotel. I'd sway away from this one if there is a chance your business plans change. I booked a 3-night stay for a business trip and my 3rd-day meetings canceled so I checked out after night two. I was charged the 3rd night because I was within the cancellation window. Yes, tried and tried. Yes, even went to Expedia to see if that worked. Nope. As I said, this is not a business travel-friendly hotel. Secondly, this is Old Town Scottsdale.....operative word is old. Don't expect new. Sure, it's been renovated, but if you like popcorn ceilings, extension cords for plugins because there aren't enough in the right location, noise from the pool area, and the obvious old looking room interiors, then maybe this is your place. Old Town Scottsdale shopping is one block away. This is a pretty cool area, perfect if you want some desert-oriented souvenirs. If you're traveling for business, the brand names are probably a better bet than this one.…
WHAT A JOKE!! This is a bedraggled, beaten up, cheaply renovated, old motel extracting top dollar from its guests for Motel Six grade accommodations. The elevator at the end of my 3rd floor room was not cleaned even once during my three-day stay. And my room was never even looked at or freshened. The outdoor hallways leading to the external access rooms had holes in the pavement. My room itself had three laughingly poor low-light fixtures with annoying switches, no telephone to connect with the practically nonexistent front desk. Exterior access to this Monarch Motel's (NOT HOTEL) door was achieved using a keypad with tiny numbers sized for a toddler's fingers and requesting a 7-digit code that never worked on the first attempt. Outdoor parking, which I did not need since I had no car, was $25.00/night, I believe. Absurd for a motel. Also outrageous was my trying to call the front desk from my residence in Atlanta, GA before arriving at this motel in Phoenix to ask a few questions. Poorly paid international call center employees in Asia are mostly useless. They are a prime example of customer NO SERVICE. Sonder should be ashamed of itself for evading direct contact with us, its US clients. Lastly, Sonder's privacy invasive, endless daily demands for repeated forms of ID in addition to one's credit card and driver’s license is Orwellian and uncalled for. …
I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH A MORE REDICUOUSE AND DIFFICULT HOTEL. ASKED IF I COULD CHECK IN A COULE OF HOURS BEFORE 4 PM. TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $25. TOLD THEM TO FORGET IT. KEEP GETTING EMAILS AND TEXTS CHARGING ME $25. WILL NEVER STAY IN ANOTHER SONDER HOTEL GAVE A 1 STAR REVIEW ON YELP
I get it. This place is trying to be retro, mad men I’m putting it, chic. However, the hotel really needs to do a total refurbishing/renovation on the property. It’s very rundown and needs updates to all of the rooms, the doors the paint job outside, the outdoor furniture, the indoor restaurant booth, just everything. The lobby is really nice and the location is great. I’ve stayed at a lot of Sonder’s & have always had a good experience until now.
The location was absolutely deplorable. We had hot water only one evening during our entire stay, we didn't have enough linens in the room for the two occupants, the room was dirty (hair all over the bath tub and the walls in the bathroom). It was very obvious that this location used to be a motel and little was done to revamp before being rebranded as another company. Sonder should be ashamed of themselves.
Awful place. Skimpy furniture, no desk, no chair, no floor lamp, no telephone, no cable TV. The bathroom door did not close, no hot water for a whole day.. Helpless help desk. No elevator in our building.
The hotel rebranded and reopened around Dec 2022 as the Sounders Monarch. Please take note of the reviews and when they were posted. There is nothing good posted after the rebrand. Booked a group event and got the “Dynamic Pricing”. Which means they raise the nightly rate $50 bucks over the online pricing. No hot water one day for the whole complex. No room cleaning service or room refresh for the whole 4 day stay. No way to call front desks all calls get routed to call center. Even for maintenance. Booked two rooms and requested them to be next to each other, The call center said I t would cost $900 additional dollars. There are 16 rooms in our building and only 4 were filled including our 2. Their refresh was done as cheaply as possible. No desk or chair. Just 2 beds and super cheap night stand and dresser. The room access is a joke. Have to use a key pad. which is fine, but the numbers don’t light up and the exterior hallway light was out. Needed to use my cameras light to enter the code. There is plenty more, but those are the highlights. Anyone that might be considered a positive is completely overshadowed by the poor excuse of a business model that focuses cheapest solution for everything. For over $3,000 for 2 rooms for 4 night, feel taken advantage of.…
THIS PLACE SUCKS!!! There was not hot water in the morning + they turned off the water. They tried charging us 200 more they what they said! The bathroom door doesn’t even close! Our friends are also staying here and they don’t have any filling around the door!! The carpet is already peeling even though, the put it 3 weeks ago!? Also, all they did to remodel this building(they opened three weeks ago) was to paint it and put crappy appliances like, a very small mini fridge, lamp, and they put a heater that smells burning when you turn on the heater. DONT GO HERE!!
