I unfortunately did not have a chance to stay here but I did book a cabana for the day via resort pass. I looked at quite a few different hotels who offered cabana and day bed rentals and felt The Saguaro was the best deal and still agree with that! There was a food & beverage minimum with the cabana rental (I did know this ahead of time but it was ‘fine print.’) Luckily the wonderful staff (especially Liz!) keep the pitchers coming and the food was delicious…meting the minimum was no problem. My only complaint is that the water was somewhat cloudy, but not concerning. I also completely understand that I was visiting the day after their 4th of July pool party and was satisfied that I could smell pool chemicals/chlorine. Bonus Points: Free Parking, close by Old Town Scottsdale, get the taco trio.…
Currently staying at this hotel. The property is nice, but very much in need to a serious refurbishment. The rooms are very dated and in need to some serious help. I had breakfast here today and drinks tonight. Both are very over priced for what they offer. I was really set back tonight when I was charged $12 dollars for a Dewers and water. I think the waiter attempted to tell me things were more expensive in Scottsdale. I reminded him that I had the same drink at to other restaurants last night within walking distance of the hotel and they charged $7.75 for the same thing. Needless to said I am not recommending this hotel. It is a rip-off. Can’t wait to leave.
TLDR: The Ritz this is not, but if you are young and drinking around town, it'll be fine for your stay... plus the pool service & DJ will make your stay worth it. I was attending a bachelorette party in Scottsdale and this is where they chose to stay based on reviews a few months ago. When I started reading recent reviews I was scared, to say the LEAST. While the reviews below are warranted - the hotel needs immense room improvements, I wouldn't say this is the worst place I've ever stayed. If you look at surrounding hotel prices compared to this one, you'll understand why it's cheaper. The rooms had just enough space for four girls to stay comfortably - however, the bathrooms are a bit tight. We were lucky that our room had no noticeable issues or damages and that our bathtub was not rusty. During our stay they had construction crews on-site fixing up rooms, so I definitely think you should request an updated room if you book a stay. This hotel is marketed to young guests and it's perfect for that... we didn't pick this loud bright hotel expecting to sleep in the comfort and silence of a ritz lol. The DJ by the pool both days was excellent, they both played great music and we loved the poolside service. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the pool bar staff was SOO attentive. We were able to check-in 6 hours early for a $25 fee, which is SUPER reasonable and was really helpful in making our stay excellent. This hotel is within walking distance of everything in town easily. I also liked that the rooms are set back from the street and separated by a concrete wall so you do feel some security. Overall, I might not choose this hotel again unless I was promised an updated room, but if it was the deal in town it would be worth it.…
Everyone was friendly from check in to check out. One person that stood out specifically was Giles. By far the nicest person at the resort and the driving factor for me to recommend folks to this resort in the future. I was heading to the pool one day and left my key in the room, I came across Giles and without hesitation or hassle, he went ahead and got new keys made while I was laying by the pool. He continued to check in on me during the rest of my stay to ensure I was having a great experience. I’ve had many good experiences with hotel staff in the past but never had one that blew me away like this. Can’t say enough great things about him. His determination to ensure customers have a great experience, does not go unnoticed
If you're looking for a hookup then this is your place otherwise this hotel is TERRIBLE! I just returned from 4 days of misery at The Saguaro Scottsdale. The bachelor and bachelorette pool parties start at 11:00 AM and go until well after 5:00 PM. Forget taking a nap or enjoying a quiet afternoon by the pool. Our poolside sliding glass door rattled with each thump of the bass all afternoon. Don't waste your money on a poolside room. There is a 6-foot fence between the poolside rooms and the pools. The gates were locked so you can't access your room directly from the pools. Gotta keep the riff-raff out somehow! The rooms are small and not maintained. The phrase rode hard and put up wet, truly applies to these rooms. There was at least a 6-inch crack in our desktop. I don't want to think about what someone did to crack a solid piece of wood. We had 4 rooms for our stay and all of them were dirty and grimey. All the rooms had stained tubs, bedding, and carpets. There's a reason the floors are black carpet or black tile... they have to hide the dirt. If you like your morning latte then be prepared to walk into Old Town Scottsdale because the cafe is closed. Why would you close the cafe on a busy weekend? If you're not physically able to walk uptown then make sure they bring you fresh half & half. We were served curdled cream the only morning we stayed on property for breakfast. Also, the menu is very limited so be prepared to eat off property a lot. We were given a "deal" to book 3 nights but only pay for 2. All three nights were billed to my account. The front staff tried to tell me they had "averaged" our nightly rate. When you average something to account for a "free" night then the nightly rate drops, it doesn't increase, that just ins't how math works.…
I had recently checked in to the hotel in Scottsdale for a long-awaited girls trip. We had seen photos online and it looked like a great place to enjoy some pool time and relaxation. Unfortunately, it felt as though my room was a far cry from what is shown on the website. OR, certainly not what I expect for $300+ per night. The room had a musty, dirty smell, walls were scratched up and filthy, bathtub filthy, hooks ripped from the walls and a smoke detector that didn’t appear to be working and was nearly pulled off the wall, which is surely a safety/code issue. As other reviewers mentioned, the doors are flimsy and as two women staying, we also felt unsafe with the weak chain to secure it. Given all this, I immediately booked a room at a nearby hotel so we could enjoy our room and trip and left. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your money. We ended up spending double (non-refundable rate; though I’ve emailed asking for some refund) and we booked the Canopy nearby-it was amazing with a gorgeous rooftop pool and lounge for the same price!! It’s interesting management keeps responding to the negative reviews that a refurb is coming, but that doesn’t help those of us getting duped between now and then. Maybe close the hotel or lower your rates until the issues can be addressed.…
Pros: The front desk staff were super friendly and even let me check in early. The lobby was beautiful and the pool was cool. The bed was clean and comfortable. Cons: The rooms need serious deep cleaning if nothing else. There's a lot that needs updating. I came from a Holiday Inn Express the night before and it felt like luxury compared to this. See attached photos. The toilet didn't flush unless you pushed down really hard and held it for the entire flush. I was woken up every night by groups coming in yelling around 4 a.m. If I hadn't been here for a conference I would have left before my 3 nights were up. Note: I noticed that housekeeping was coming in and leaving fresh towels and making my bed. While that was nice, I would rather have come into a cleaner room and made my own bed each day. Maybe re-evaluate where you have time being used.…
As a lot of people have said previously, if I could give a ZERO star rating, I would. The people who give 3-5 stars must be insane, drunk kids or friends of the staff. This place is old, dirty, rundown, lacking ANY of the positive aspects they try to display on their fake website. In the warmer spring to summer months, expect pool parties with a DJ literally blasting bass pumping music all day. That’s fine, lots of young people come here to party, I get it. But the walls and sliding glass door are so thin, there is NO way one could possibly relax in the room before going to dinner. I’m more annoyed with the lack of cleanliness and lack of safety I felt while staying here. The door to my room seemed like someone with medium strength could kick it down easily, it barely sealed when shut. The room itself was beyond outdated and dirty. There was a bloodstain on the bedsheet. YES, A BLOODSTAIN. The carpets, walls, molding and ceiling have various big stains. The bathroom is disgusting, the sink got clogged, the handles were loose and took some maneuvering to turn off. There are curtains on the wall. On a bare wall. The hallways are trashy, stained and dirty. This place feels like a rent-by-the-hour roadside motel. There is an A/C unit in the room that I can only think is 30yrs old, it cycles on & off all night with a clanking sound like a motor barely being able to rev up. It woke me up almost every time. They seem to attract patrons with no respect for others as one of the nights I was here, a group of about 10 rowdy, loud, obnoxious, entitled, disrespectful “boys” were in the pool from 3-4:30am. Way after the pool closed. They were playing music, swearing and yelling until they finally decided to leave. Being solo, I didn’t want to nicely say anything to them for fear of retaliation. That’s how unsafe I felt. While the pool bartenders and servers were very friendly, the drinks were watered down, SMALL and WAY overpriced. $14 for a sugary drink. I paid less for a larger size at an upscale resort on Maui. Bottom line: STAY AWAY. I’m not kidding. I changed my non-refundable flight, car and this crappy hotel to go home early losing close to 1k in order to just GET OUT.…
Nice location. Friendly staff that work the grounds. Great Resignation: Their understaffed! Their front-desk seem to be staffed by interns getting school credit or new-hires to the hospitality industry. Pool has a jacuzzi. Pool party with DJ cool, if you like that but another pool across the way for chill. Rooms are meh; out-dated and stains in sink and tub with questionable mold/mildew. Would not return but can be budget friendly for others.
This hotel is next to Olde Town. I kind of liked the exterior vibe of the hotel. They have good pool areas with a convenient bar. Nice sized and well equipped gym! Check in was ok, a little slow. One of the front desk staff was dealing with some sort of issue so wasn't in the greatest mood, not the best first impression. The room was ok sized and the bed was pretty comfortable. It was dated and didn't have the best decor and maintenance. Nothing egregious or interfering with the stay, just a little surprising I would say, All in all we enjoyed the location and had a decent stay.
