Go elsewhere. This hotel is not up to par and has numerous shortcomings as described below. Pros 1. Vaulted ceilings nice in some of the rooms 2. Air conditioning works in hot area of Scottsdale Cons 1. Hotel is worn down. You can tell by the whole hotel. Obviously hotel has put more effort into the upkeep of their courtyard and neglected the renovations of the hotel rooms 2. Housekeeping left my hotel room door open after cleaning it. I was shocked. Little value for security of hotel guest belongings. 3. They charge a “resort fee” although this is far from a resort. They advertise room service but there is none. They do not tell guests about what is included in resort fee. Restaurant staff and manager did not even know free dessert with entree purchase is included in resort fee. If staff don’t even know what is in resort fee, it should not be charged. 4. No diamond upgrades to suites. They told me they do not upgrade anyone to suites even at diamond level. 5. Bed was hard as a rock. 6. Managers don’t pick up the phone 7. Front desk staff acts like they don’t care about any of your problems 8. Hot water in the bathrooms takes forever to become hot 9. Restaurant and Starbucks close early. 10. For rooms on far end of hotel, there is no elevator for upper rooms. You have to carry your bags up the stairs. 11. Rooms have connecting doors although these are not shown on the Hilton hotel map when checking in. 12. Pillowcase when I checked in had red marks on it. I had to call front desk and they said housekeeping would come and change that pillowcase. Waited 1.5 hours and they did not come. Called again and they said they would tell housekeeping who then came and changed the pillowcase 13. At check in my room was not ready. They told me they would prioritize room to be cleaned. I waited two hours and room was still not cleaned. I had gone to them numerous times to ask about room and don’t think they ever told housekeeping to prioritize. When I asked them to reach out to housekeeping again the room was cleaned shortly after that. And surprise the hotel never updated me when it was ready even though they said they would. 14. The text service is a joke. No one on staff actually replies to you. Hotel owners should invest in major renovation efforts at this hotel to make it a place for diamond members to stay. Would not return here.

Hotel's Favorite
A very nice property. Some of the reviews posted are really quite unfair and seem to be from inexperienced travelers. Right now I think all travelers have to be aware that we are still in pandemic times. And it is very hard for businesses in the leisure industry (hotels, restaurants, theaters, etc) to get and retain staff. So, I think it’s unreasonable to expect the hotel to staff for two pool bars at this time. Suck it up cupcake and walk to the other pool to get your maitai. Same thing for ability to fully staff the restaurants. And I think people can put up with a small leaf or two in the pool area right now. My room was clean and bright. Bed comfy. In the future the bathrooms could use some updating but no big deal for now. The pools were both very nice. I especially liked the one farthest from the lobby and when I return I will book a room closer to that pool. The one closest to the lobby was still nice but I wish the little waterfall feature was turned on in that pool. Also the pool music wasn’t really good. Should find some clubby/light jazzy/zen spa kinda music. Whatever the were playing wanted me to slit my wrists just a little. The staff were all very nice and the property grounds were well maintained (although I wish there were more cacti in the cactus garden). They have a couple of hammocks that looked quite invited, under some shade trees. I liked my yummy breakfast burrito at the morning restaurant and the shuttle driver was very friendly and took me where I needed to go in Scottsdale. One last thing. Doubletree properties are midrange Hilton brand properties, so expect a mid range experience. If you want and expect top tier experience stay at a Conrad, crockfords, or Waldorf Astoria (example…the built ore in Phoenix is quite fabulous).I thing this property and their staff do a good job representing the doubletree brand.

Location is on a busy street, front lobby has a dirty smell, pool is not very clean, and could not connect to wifi/internet from my room. It is a beautiful property, breakfast buffet was wonderful with friendly servers, but left disappointed.

Have been to this hotel several times and rated it 4-star in the past, but since last visit a few years ago it has gone downhill a bit. Stayed in 6000 block. Housekeeping is still 5-star, and rooms are nice. Exterior stairwells need handrail repainting and step repairs. Grounds well-kept but a nearly-dead tree needs pruning/removal and walkways were not swept regularly. Garden areas / planters that used to have trees or plants have been left empty (just stones). South pool deck was not regularly cleaned, and often had debris from the day before. Had three interactions with front-desk staff - only one was friendly and customer-service oriented. At check-in when I asked about the 'daily fitness class' mentioned on the website, the employee had no idea about it but mentioned the tennis courts and availability of equipment. At checkout when I expressed my concerns about the state of the hotel and my disappointment with the $30 resort fee, I received no comment back- nothing. When I asked a few questions about the final receipt, she had no clear answers - she didn't appear to understand the receipt entries. The $30 resort fee is a joke - all the athletic facilities used to be free a few years ago. Two bottles of water cost them maybe 60 cents, and you have to get it yourself - maybe the water and cookies could be delivered to the room each day? It a standard fee at many hotels now, because they don't want to advertise higher rates. I will try visiting again to see what it's like next time. I hope things improve, because it has the potential to be great again.

Ok, the place did have bugs. However, it is not as bad as other people are describing it. It’s the desert not sure what people expect. Pool was nice, room was outdated but still decent for the price, staff was extremely nice and helpful. Only thing I absolutely hated was that I couldn’t rent movies or stream movies from my phone like most hotels are doing now. All in all I feel the hotel did the best with what they had to work with. Parking situation was great too plenty of parking and close to shops and restaurants. I would book this hotel again in a heartbeat at a reasonable price point.

After staying for two nights at the Doubletree in Tucson we decided to pick the same hotel chain in Scottsdale, the next stop on our three-week -trip in the US. As we checked the rates online we found much cheaper rates on Priceline than on Hilton’s website. Hilton does offer a price match guarantee and additional 25% discount, so we thought it’s the easiest and most convenient way to ask directly at check in. The lady at the reception was very friendly and kind, however due to Hilton’s policy she wasn’t allowed to match the price. She therefore suggested I should book online via priceline and come back again, which seemed a bit complicated to me. At that moment I didn’t feel very welcome although being Hilton Honors Gold member. The receptionist tried to reach a supervisor or the GM, who might have matched the price, but no one was available for their guests because they were in a meeting. In the end I stepped aside and booked via priceline, paid 280$ instead of 400$. The friendly receptionist apologized for not being able to help us, and I believed her although she told me to call customer service to see what they could do for me. To be honest, that phone call is a service she could have provided given the fact that no I’m house responsible was available at that time. She then gave us a very nice room though. However I expect Hilton to be more welcoming to their guests or not to advertise price match guarantees that turn out to be a disappointment to their loyal guests.

Let me first start out by saying the staff was helpful and friendly, after that it all goes downhill, due to BUGS. Bugs in my rooms (I looked at 4 different rooms). Bugs in the bathroom, bugs by the door, and the final straw were bugs in my bed. Staff said they had called an exterminator, but to no avail the bugs took over. I asked other hotels guest that were staying there and they too said their rooms were infested with bugs! Needless to say, this totally ruined my stay. I am a world wide traveler and I have never seen anything like this. Again, the staff were accommodating and check in/out was simple, but I will never stay there again.

Came here for my husband's business meeting. Hotel is conveniently located near Downtown Scottsdale, restaurants, and shopping. We were there when they were hosting a veteran's reunion and it was nice to see all the veterans gathered together. Our room was in a quiet location but far from the main part of the hotel. While we were towards the southern end of the hotel with plenty of parking, we were far from the lobby area and the main pool area. It was a plus and minus since we didn't have to compete for parking near our room. The room itself was clean but could use an update. Our home was on the second floor but it did not have a door protector at the bottom so it left a gap between the floor and the bottom of the door. We could see small critters could climb in so we threw a few towels on the floor to block the gap. The toilet was a bit loose, so every time we sat down it rocked forward. The pillows needed to be changed out since they were pretty floppy and did not hold a lot of shape. The bed was ehh and I didn't have a good night's sleep. The positives of the room included a nice balcony that had a nice view of the interior of the hotel with lots of trees and grass. We also could see the smaller pool from our room. There was also an in-room refrigerator that worked too well and froze some of my waters. The room was spacious and the AC worked well to keep our room cool all day and night. We also went to the hotel restaurant and the coffee bar that is only open to 1pm. The coffee bar has Starbucks branded drinks and some baked goods. There was also some breakfast items such as yogurt, fruit, and Jimmy Dean egg sandwiches. You can buy bagels and toast them in the adjacent toaster. The tables by the coffee bar have charging hookups so you can sit and work on your laptop or charge your phone. We ate at the restaurant and the food was a bit overpriced. I would not recommend the flatbread pizza since the crust was not very crispy. The queso and tortilla chips was very good and I would highly recommend. Overall, I would give this hotel a second chance but request a room closer to the main lobby.

Stayed for 6 nights and had another great experience. Had a very nice room overlooking the center fountain, ate both breakfast and lunch at the hotel each day which was nice, and staff was extremely friendly and accommodating as always. This is definitely our go to hotel when in Scottsdale! Amazing location and wonderful customer service.
