Detailed Reviews
After having stayed at some of the world's finest hotels, I was surprised to find The Canyon Suites At The Phoenician at the very top of my list. Everything about this hotel was flawless, but what really stood out was the service. They do not know how to say no here. After having recently spending twice the per capita GDP at Four Seasons Wailea, only to be constantly disappointed, it was bewildering to find such attentive and prompt service at such an affordable property. The cherry on this sundae is when my wife left a large Chanel tote that happened to contain four Chanel bags and several pairs of designer glasses and jewelry. Not only did housekeeping promptly scoop it up and leave it with the front desk, but the front desk manager quickly transported it to security. There was a tremendous amount of value in that bag and it was returned to us completely intact.
I'm can't wait to get back to The Canyon Suites. It is truly among the best in the world.

It be nicer if this was the adult only side of the hotel. We experienced loud toddlers running up and down the hallways, outside our room (7am) and parents that didn't care. Crying and loud kids poolside too. Staff is very friendly, from waitstaff to bell desk (offered waters many times) and check in-staff nice. They forgot to clean our room one day (it happens) we called and someone came with 10 minutes. The room is nice and spacious, but I would say due for freshening. One of the bedroom doors has door slates with openings vs. a solid door, so we would not stay here again, as the noise and light from me being up at 6am drifts in the bedroom (a typical solid wall would be better) and only one door entrance. Plenty of closet space. 1.5 bath is nice. Small shower, nice porch, small fridge, 3 tv. Room was big. Bed was fair. Good location. Hotel exercise room nice, they take temp and need to mask. Main hotel bar, no masks nor spacing, restaurants no mask but no temp taken. Went to hotel bar, sat at table, waited about 10 minutes. we got served water and left, no-one came to take a drink order. J&G says they too understaffed to open outside deck even though outdoor dining weather was perfect, the inside was socially spaced. If you can serve me inside, you can serve me 10 feet further. Sometimes hotel lobby has a nitely cookie out, sometimes we got back from dinner and they were gone, if this was supposed to replace turn down service, they should have had more out. Their concierge reached out too late to help with dinner reservations we did weeks before on our own. Nice buffet breakfast, beautiful grounds. Im being a bit nitpicky, very nice hotel.

My husband and I chose to spend our “babymoon” at the Canyon Suites, and it was truly the best, most memorable experience. This is the place to stay for celebrating a special occasion. We found that the staff made it feel authentic and personalized. At check in, we met Kate, who was genuinely excited to learn that we were expecting and planned to have our gender reveal cake delivered to the resort from an offsite bakery. Kate went out of her way to call the bakery and ensure the delivery was coming to the canyon suites lobby and not to be confused with the Phoenician. She also organized the most thoughtful babymoon themed amenity to be sent to our room - a chilled bottle of Martinelli’s (sparkling apple cider), a cute desert themed baby book, and a plush cactus baby toy.
We loved the vibe of staying at the more boutique and intimate resort while having access to all the amenities of the large Phoenician property. The bellman were so nice and they always offered golf carts to shuttle us to the Phoenician main lobby, the newly renovated spa, and the fitness center. We also took advantage of the complimentary car service a few nights going out to dinner in Scottsdale. The poolside service was excellent, and we learned certain staff members have been with the Phoenician for several decades.
The daily breakfast was also a highlight and it took place in the beautiful main lobby where the bar area is located. Great variety of offerings and again, the breakfast staff were so nice. Also - the bar was fantastic and the bartender was happy to experiment with making me a mint julep mocktail during the Kentucky Derby.
Overall, we had such a wonderful experience staying at the Canyon Suites, we even extended our stay one extra night. Having lived in Phoenix for seven years, I was only aware of the Phoenician as a large resort, and not this boutique property situated within. It is a newly discovered hidden gem for us and we certainly plan to return one day with our new baby girl :)

You get the best of both worlds while staying in the Canyon Suites. You have all of the massive amenities of the larger Phoenician resort at your fingertips, but you get the calmer, more boutique experience at the Suites. We had a first floor golf view one bedroom and it was HUGE with a beautiful, private, peaceful view. Extremely clean and not at all aging.
Staff: Incredible, friendly, timely service all the time. We would return simply for the service and friendliness.
Breakfast: The Canyon Suites serves an amazing complimentary breakfast every morning. It's not the cheap continental breakfast -- it's an amazingly fresh assortment of food that lasts until 10:30am and is served by super friendly staff.
Pool: You have access to the Phoenician's massive pools. But, they can get crowded and you often need to "reserve" chairs, which I hate. The Suites has its own pool, exclusive to those staying at the Suites. .Still a great vibe, but not as crowded.
Workout facilities: The new workout building rivals any fitness club out there. Huge amount of equipment (including Pelotons!) spread out on a huge, bright floor with floor to ceiling windows. Huge amount of tennis courts and a basketball court all at your fingertips.
Location: The Suites is separate, but literally a 3 minute walk to everything on property. The location in the middle of Scottsdale makes it easy to go anywhere off property.
Food: All of the food we had on property was delicious. The only issue might be the amount of options available on property was limited. Not a big deal though, since there are restaurants galore a 5 minute drive in every direction.
We would definitely return!

Spectacular stay at the Canyon Suites in Phoenician. We stayed for three nights and received an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite facing the mountain.
The service is fantastic! From the welcome gift to detailed trip planning, the staff made our experience truly unforgettable. They satisfy every request, even the ones like “can we have four champagne glasses at the fire pit?”
Canyon suite guests access the house car. Unlike many other resorts where guests need to try their luck to get a ride, we found the house car available at any time! They offered us a 3 pm late checkout as we had a late flight.
The hotel have a complimentary breakfast buffet in the lobby, but we also need some breakfast “meat,” so we chose to have the elite breakfast coupon as a welcome gift. The breakfast is more excellent in Canyon Suites, but Phoenician offers wider choices.
The J&G steak house is one of the best J&G we tried in the US and the afternoon tea is very relaxing. The canyon pool and the Phoenician pools are fantastic, but we found the Canyon pool quieter and cleaner.
We truly enjoyed every aspect of this stay and will be back in the near future!

Rooms are huge, and it's great that it's separate from the much, much larger Phoenician. But I was expecting more. Grounds are beautiful, and fun to explore.
Common areas are dated, and the rooms could use some updating as well.
Unfortunately the breakfast area they normally use was closed, so we had to go to Mowry and Cotton in the Phoenician--a total zoo and waste of time.

For the past 30 years, I have traveled the US extensively for work, typically spending 100-150 nights on the road per year. I have been to many of the nation’s top hotels and resorts and I have to say this is one of my favorites! My husband and I booked 7 nights for our 25th anniversary and The Canyon Suites did not disappoint. First off, the level of service is incredible! We spent every day at the pool and Sharon was among the most personable and customer-service oriented servers we have ever encountered on our travels. The hotel only has 60 rooms, so even at a busy Spring Break time, we were always able to find great seats at the pool and enjoy our day. A wonderful breakfast is included with your room and the food choices were always tasty. Meredith, Jan, and Buzz were all standouts at breakfast for their friendly service. We had a room rather than a suite but it was large and very comfortable for a week’s stay. The water pressure in the large walk-in shower was fabulous! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the cactus garden is really cool for those of us from the east. Since it was our anniversary, the hotel sent us a bottle of champagne and some wonderful truffles on our first day. The last night we had dinner on property at J&G Steakhouse and it was a very special way to close out our week. I think the only complaint I can come up with is the pool needs frequent cleaning as the trees near it were regularly dropping tiny leaves into the water. And likely due to the beautiful landscaping, there are a lot of bees, many of whom wind up in the pool and need to be scooped out. Thanks to everyone at The Canyon Suites for a very memorable anniversary vacation!

Wow what a treat this weekend was. It was so nice to see a full staff working in a hotel and the level of service behind the masks was impeccable. It is not often during a three night stay I get to know hotel staff as well as I did this past weekend. Jay, Chase and Derek at the desk left a lasting impression. Patrick Cody and Damien are at your service every single second of the way. I never even felt the need to call and request the car ahead of time it was up in seconds upon request. The breakfast staff each morning was on top of it and very friendly. YES I SAID BREAKFAST. It is not often through Covid have I seen a full hot breakfast served each morning. The lox, eggs and bacon were some of my favorites. The staff was great and took care of my 3 year olds request for donut holes each morning without even having to ask a second time. Ana, Vong, Ricardo & Pedro are just a few names of the warm individual welcomes you will experience each morning. With 60 rooms in house whether sold out or not, the staff here takes the time to get to know each and every guest. While the rooms and amenities were nice what makes this place special is the service. I hand this off to Amanda for doing such a great job leading her team to success. Thank you for a great weekend!
We made it over to the main resort pool on Saturday where Elijah took great care of welcoming us to the pool as he was already busy in the first place but made it a point to stop what he was doing and lead us to a comfortable spot for the day. Heather was of great service and took care of us throughout the day.
It was hard to leave but looking forward to returning already. Look no further whether the Canyon Suites or the main resort you cannot go wrong.

We've stayed at the Phoenician several times over the years at the main building and Casitas and we have always enjoyed it. This was our first experience at The Canyon Suites. We were so impressed with the intimacy of this boutique location at the resort, the attentiveness of every employee we met, the privacy at the pool, and the overall ambience. We felt as if everyone knew who we were and would stop at nothing to make our stay exceptional. They even made sure my favorite Bloody Mary Mix from Mowry & Cotton was not only in my room, but at the pool! (thank you Sam for ensuring the Savage Mix was available, a must try for every guest!) If you're planning on visiting Scottsdale, The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician should be your first choice.

Canyon Suites is a small enclave on the grounds of the Phoenician. From check-in to check-out, all your needs are anticipated. Extremely customized service. Rooms are modern and large. Breakfast is included and is a nicely served buffet with very attentive service. Poolside food and drinks are excellent, served by Sharon who is superb. She is a real gem. Plenty of lounge chairs for the number of guests and they are nicely socially distanced. Dinner is not available here so you either need to get that meal at the Phoenician, which is less than a 5 minute walk or off site. Staff all wear masks and we felt very safe. You get what you pay for and that is very true at Canyon Suites.

What is included in the resort fee?
Nope. About 3 minutes maximum from Canyon Suites main entrance to the Phoenician main entrance, just a couple minute walk beyond that to the pool complex.
Thank you for your question. The Canyon Suites is a "resort-within-a-resort" on the grounds of The Phoenician. As the only AAA Five Diamond, Forbes Five Star hotel in the greater Phoenix area, the property provides a more exclusive and luxurious guest experience. Completely redesigned in summer 2016, the 40 suites and 20 rooms resonate with a residential, contemporary elegance - an upper up-scale ambiance from The Phoenician. Each accommodation offers views of the pool and Camelback Mountain, or the golf course and valley beyond. We hope to welcome you to The Canyon Suites in the near future.
We haven't taken a taxi into town, but I believe the Canyon Suites shuttle would provide a free ride to/from town (at least one of the malls). I'd recommend reaching out to a Canyon Suites Ambassador for assistance (they are super helpful_.
