First time in Arizona and it was such a pleasant stay! Loved everything about the hotel except of course certain things being limited due to covid but overall lovely stay! Wish the bar was open longer, didn’t get a chance to sit down and have a drink since they closed early. But I recommend this hotel to anyone! Nice pool, very nice staff and close to a lot of places and restaurants! Went to a restaurant walking distance from the hotel just around the corner on that shopping plaza close by and it was beyond delicious! I would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here a few years ago as a result of an $89/night deal from Travelzoo. This time we took advantage of an $85/night offer that they had. Looking back at my previous review I noticed that there was no resort fee. Now there is a $25/night resort fee but the Travelzoo offer reduced it to $15/night. Once again we were very impressed with a studio room with full kitchen. Of course, due to Covid, their breakfast and happy hour items were not the same as before but they were still pretty impressive. Happy Hour 1st night - choice of pizza or salad w 2 drinks. My husband chose pizza & I salad so we could share. (pizza slices a bit small but we're not very big eaters). It was enough for us to skip restaurant dinner. The next night the choices were 2 pulled chicken sliders w/ chips or salad. Breakfast day 1 was scrambled eggs/link sausage & home fries; Day 2 was a breakfast sandwich on a bagel with home fries. Also available that day were oranges & yogurt. Drinks included coffee and orange juice. Along with 2 other couples we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility as well as the pool. I was quite happy that even though the outside temps were above 100, the pool's water temp made it refreshing but not cold. In the a.m. the water was just warm enough to also make it pleasant. The courtyard surrounding the pool is lovely and has plenty of seating. The only small complaint is that nowhere did we see that you could not bring your own alcoholic drinks into that area when the bar is open. I understand the reason but it should be printed somewhere on the info sheet. I also appreciated that there were no housekeeping services during our stay so no other people in the room. We would definitely go back if we see another Travelzoo offer. Another plus - there is a Sprouts supermarket within walking distance as well as various shops, the Village Tavern Restaurant & Panera Bread so no need to drive anywhere - just relax.…
weathering the pandemic-they performed above and beyond--kudos to the staff and management!1the meals were given to us under strict guidelines and the social distancing was monitored even in the elevator[i felt safe]---masks were mandatory--
All of the staff, amenities, location, and price made this the best hotel I have been to in a long time. We stayed for 31 days to visit our kids and grandkids, and we felt like we were at home. My wife celebrated a birthday, and the staff was right there with us to assist in the celebration.
I highly DO NOT recommend staying here - the pictures really play up the pool area, which is by far, the only reputable attribute of this hotel. I stayed here over New Years with my boyfriend and we were incredibly thankful to have baked in multiple activities in our trip to greatly limit our time spent at Sonesta. The staff was awkward and in a generally sour mood, to say the least. Additionally, room service does not exist and the clientele is not who either of us would choose to be around during a vacation. Again, anyone could do better by booking a stay elsewhere for the same price - we fully regret not having stayed at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn - we said multiple times how we wish we were there instead of Sonesta. Happy booking!
