The Scott Resort & Spa
Really cool spot, interior design, comfy beds, nice shower and amenities, superb bar and bartending crew, loved looking at the pool area, and sitting by the fires, but we hit a rare cold snap for Scottsdale and didn’t actually get in. There is a hot tub and heated pool, but we were too busy to stop for that. Request the courtyard facing rooms. When we got there we got a parking lot facing room and were able to switch although from King to 2 double beds. The gorgeous lighting and decor sold me.

The Scott Resort & Spa is celebrated for its prime location near old town attractions and shopping areas. Guests are charmed by its unique blend of relaxed elegance and trendy atmosphere, though some suggest certain areas could benefit from an update. While the rooms are generally regarded as comfortable with a thoughtful design, a few guests have raised concerns regarding lighting and air conditioning. The hotel's cleanliness is consistently praised, but opinions on value and service are mixed, with some guests feeling the pricing is steep and the service lacking at times.

I have stayed at this hotel three times now so I am writing this review knowing that the positives and negatives weren’t just a fluke on a good day or a bad day. I will start with the things that I enjoyed or thought were just overall positives. The lobby of this hotel smells fantastic and is very open and comfortable. The lobby boasts Lots of seating, great fireplace and a wonderful bar with friendly bartenders. The outdoor seating is also unique as there are fire tables going and comfortable chairs surrounding them and two large screens where they show old movies which is pretty cool. The pools at the Scott are also fabulous. There is a larger pool and a smaller pool that has sand around it so you feel like your on a beach walking into the water. I also appreciate that there is food and beverage service by the pool.
Now for the not so good. It seems every time I stay here there have been similar housekeeping issues. Consistently Every hallway carpet is just gross, hair, strings, crumbs, you name it it’s on that hall carpet. My last stay I was there for 5 days and not once was that hallway vacuumed. Not a huge deal, I know, but just gross. We also saw a long trail of blood along the wall in the hallway which remained until I pointed it out to the housekeeper.
The rooms are a decent size with the exception of the bathroom. You can barely shut the door by the toilet unless you stand to the side of it. The shower also sprays water all over the floor. (Again this has been consistent in all 3 of my stays) This last trip we found a huge hair ball on the wall of our shower and had no toiletries left in the room which leads me to believe the bathroom was not properly cleaned, it took several phone calls before I received some soap! All rooms have kind of a musty humid smell. Not sure what it is exactly but I just deal with it by keeping my suitcase closed. So overall the room cleanliness could be stepped up a notch, as well as the buildings they’re in.

Food at this hotel has always been delicious! I especially love the breakfast menu. However, portion size tends to change. For example I love the avocado toast but Some days it comes with one egg and others with two. This makes a difference when feeding teenage and twenty something boys. We know now just to ask for two eggs so it’s a bit more filling.
If this hotel would just work on the cleanliness of the guest rooms and the buildings they’re in I think this would be a fantastic place to stay. I do like the location as well which is why I’ve given it several chances.

I think the Scott is a perfectly nice hotel. Do not expect luxury accommodations or service, but for the price, it's a nice set up with a cute face lift. A few notes that I think would be helpful for travelers:
1. The rooms are comfortable and nicely sized. We had a suite which was clearly originally 2 adjoining rooms, but one had a king bed and one had a murphy bed with a small modern couch. Both rooms had a bathroom. So essentially, you have 2 bathrooms (with showers, not tubs), a nice sized king bedroom, and a living area with a murphy bed. For us, this set up was great because we were traveling with a toddler who slept in a pack n play in the living room.
2. Sheets and towels are low quality, but clean and fine
3. They are not doing daily house keeping because of COVID (personally, I don't like this policy, especially when masks are now "optional". Seems odd that you don't have to wear a mask inside but can't have your room serviced)
4. Even though we stopped by the hotel at 11am on the day of check in to let them know we had arrived early in the hopes of getting an early check in with our toddler, our room was not ready until well past the 4pm check in time. I did not at all expect to get into our room before 4pm, but I do very much expect to be in our room AT check in time. This was especially irritating because we had been told our room was already vacated at 11am and it would be put on the list for prioritized cleaning. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. However, the staff was extremely reasonable and did offer discounts for our inconvenience which I appreciated.
5. The pool is a great set up. Kid friendly, but if you didn't have kids, it would by no means feel like you were in Disney. I had been worried it wouldn't have a relaxing vibe as the resort is in the city, but it has a great vibe and doesn't feel at all like you are right by a main road in town.
6. If you want a pool chair (and are traveling during a popular vacation time) get there EARLY. Like 7am.

The weather during my stay was very warm (98/99 degrees) the AC in-room failed to cool down the room. In the evening I opened my patio doors to cool off the room. It was literally cooler outside, than in my room. It was very uncomfortable. Let’s be real, The Scott is a party hotel not a “resort and spa.” Large groups of people crowding the pools in the middle of a pandemic is not what I signed up for, nor what is safe. You did nice renovations to the pool and rooms but this is a heavily trafficked hotel (former motel) right off of a busy highway where people who aren’t even staying there wander and take photos with professional photographers. You sell pool passes so not even the hotel guests can get in some relaxing pool time during the day. I ended up using the pool once during my stay, at night to avoid the crowds. By then beer bottles, used towels, plates littered the entire pool area. If you’re going to charge folks as if you were a premium hotel the above matters need to be looked into (like add an evening cleaning shift). I’ve stayed at countless hotels and I was shocked at how poorly kept The Scott was. It may look cool on Instagram but in reality it was a stressful, hot, and unkept stay.

Hello, Our goal is to provide an exemplary and safe experience and I apologize we have fallen short during your stay. We have implemented many items and tactics in these changing times. For example, we removed a number of chairs at our pool to ensure social distancing and try to enforce it when needed. We also do not sell pool passes on the weekends due to our high demand and our current limited capacity. All in all, I am extremely disappointed we did not meet your expectations. We would like an opportunity to connect with you directly to discuss your stay in further detail so we may correct the course. At your convenience, may you email tstaten@thescottresort.com? Thank you for your feedback. Sincerely, Brandon H.

I booked through a discount site because I was looking for someplace close to a medical appointment I had. I was already stressed about that, and trying to save money but wanted a nice place for a little down time/ relaxation too with my best friend who came to support me. I am assuming because I used a discount site to book my room that instead of trying to impress me they figured I wasn't a worthy guest because I didn't pay full price.
Our room faced a very busy roadway- so no real rest/relaxation time for either of us. I told them upon my check in that I was with my best friend, yet we were still given a room with a king bed. We also got to hear the maintain crews out running their leaf blowers etc. in the mornings. Upon leaving the property for the day we saw masks, gloves and other things stuck in the bushes and at the base of the walls around the exterior of the building and property line.
The only pros on this trip where, they are close to Scottsdale Fashion Square, close to my medical appointment and the rooms where clean and comfortable.
Because of this experience I will not be booking at The Scotts nor recommending it to anyone.

No room service until second day, for the prices you pay for staying at the hotel we spect room service EVERYDAY and that was not the case. Not coming back here again for that reason.

We called to reception to make this point and they told us they just going to send clean towels, they use the COVID excuse to not clean, but it should be the oposite, clean daily to kill bacteria.

If you want a relaxing environment with a beautiful property, this is the place to visit. We were here for a conference, that' we've been having here for the past 15 years. Even though the property has changed hands during these years, the transition has now come full circle now with an incredible staff. The banquet folks such as Ken, Lydia, Norma and team makes sure the group feels welcomed. It feels like were the only group on property. The AV team is extremely attentive, making sure everything we need is handled. It would be nice if they had a wine hour again. This was a great networking opportunity for our attendees, which we now miss. The new décor is nice, but the "sofas" in the room are not conducive for any kind of cuddling or comfort. Overall though, an amazing experience. Thanks so much!

We had a great stay at The Scott. It's a swanky place. The rooms have been remodeled and are cozy and stylish. The porch was nice with nice Adirondack chairs, but overlooked the parking lot. No exhaust fan in the bathroom. We're never fans of the "resort fee", which is $42/night. Just put it in the price you advertise. The pools were amazing with lush landscaping, water features etc. We could've been very happy spending every day the pools. Sam was a super waitress at the pool. Very friendly and offered suggestions on local dining etc. Their bar is hip and a cool place to hang out. Restaurant food was very good as well. Ooh, also the mattress was excellent - a BeautyRest Black and the feather pillows were super comfy. Full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion that smelled heavenly. Nespresso machine in the room. It's the little things...

Walking into this hotel is like a dream. Decor is stunning and the smell... ahhhh! If they didn't get the ambiance so darn flawless, I would have rated the hotel a lot lower. The room was a good size, felt clean and of course adorably decorated.
For the price point, however, I had higher hopes. 1. We paid for a "Kind Pool View". There was literally only a view of the back of a cabana. When I inquired about it, they did not seem to understand the problem with the room - repeating, it is a pool king, what is the problem. Anyway, it might help if you ask for a room on the upper floor since the lower floors provide no "view". 2. We got to the pool around 3 the first day and there were NO towels. We had to ask several times for towels and 30 minutes later someone brought some hotel room towels to us and a line up of other guests waiting for towels. 3. We got to the pool around 9 am on a Saturday and there were already so many chairs "saved" with towels, we grabbed two chairs quickly and spend the day in the mostly shady side of the pool. It would be helpful for the hotel to put in place a clear "no holding" policy as there are very few sunny spots and people that actually want to enjoy the pool in the morning are left with no options, while others sit at brunch and come back hours later for their chairs. 4. In general the staff seemed unconcerned about our presence. Pool service on Saturday was great, otherwise, desk, bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff seemed disinterested in their roles and us as guests. No bad interactions, just nothing memorable or special. For the price I will stick with other resorts that pay more attention to customer service details over interior design.

The selection of The Scott was made by the person coordinating the birthday celebration for our daughter. The exterior is impressive but the rooms were tight. The shower drain looked like it needed a good cleaning and the area is small. We chose a bottom floor because there was no elevator and since we were staying there two days we had a few pieces of luggage I did not want to haul up a flight of stairs. Staff at the bar were pretty helpful and attentive. Not sure I would be staying here if in the area again, however it is close to restaurants and a mall. Food in The Canal was nothing to write home about as well.
