Just got back from three wonderful days at Down By the River B&B. Lodging, amenities and the decor in the common areas and room were fantastic and historically appealing. Liz and Darren work in tandem to make this place very special - speaking of which - we had gourmet breakfasts, afternoon treats, and desserts each day of our stay. They were very attentive, but not intrusive, and so appreciative of us as guests. We felt very special to be sure. One reason we chose DBTR is the proximity to Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone and Bisbee and wine country near Elgin. In addition golf is nearby. We'll have to catch that next time.
During our stay we met another couple and had some rousing games of shuffleboard. In addition we had great conversations with them and Liz and Darren as well. If you would like a relaxing environment DBTR offers a scenic, quiet (except for the unique calls of so many different birds) and beautiful getaway.
Liz and Darren are hostess and host who offer the most! Thanks for a truly awesome experience in southern Arizona!!!

We very much enjoyed this B&B. The breakfasts are fabulous, Liz is a great cook, and Darryn makes his famous fruit smoothies. Beds are very comfortable. Location is somewhat remote (quiet that we like) but easy day drive to Saguaro East, Sonoita wine country, as well as Tombstone and Bisby, and only a little longer to Chiricahua National Monument. Hope to return.

Absolutely the BEST B&B we have visited. This hidden gem is the perfect place to get away, relax and unwind! Liz and Darryn are such gracious hosts, sharing their beautiful home as they pamper you with delicious food, comfortable beds, and a serene surrounding to enjoy. We can't wait to visit our new friends again! Do yourself a favor...treat yourself to a getaway, you won't be sorry. Darryn makes a mean smoothie, and Liz has the cooking talents of a master chef.

Wow! Yet another awesome (this time 5 nights) stay at DBTR with Darryn and Liz. Spent the new year week with these awesome hosts, and this time we had other house guests, and it added a new level of fun and interaction. The breakfasts (I think I gained 5 lbs) that Liz cooked included a whole new variety that we didn't have during our last stay. Chicken and waffles, poached eggs on grilled French bread toast, and more... do yourself a favor and visit this place! Darryn and Liz put on an awesome informal spread on New Years Eve (can you say smoked beef tenderloin, nacho bar, fruit plate, cheese and crackers, and a variety of desserts) that was incredible. These folks know how to make you feel welcome, comfortable and part of the family. We can honestly say that DBTR is going to become at least an annual trip for us! Hope to see you there....

As a former luxury hotel professional, I can speak from expertise (and heart) that a property this caliber is a must experience. So private, so well designed and so soothing for the soul. The property is exceptionally clean and caters to all visitors. Whether you are looking to curl up with a book for a day on a sunny patio or tour around neighboring cities (Bisbee, Tombstone, Tucson) as day trips - suggest you book your stay here for few nights. And my deepest gratitude goes out to Liz and Darryn - they made our stay extra special and we felt like we spent the weekend with our friends. Liz is an excellent chef! She made us brownie cupcake treats and puff pasty pears as mid-day treats. Darryn is a storyteller and made sure we are as comfortable as can be. Truly a gem property. They have put a lot of love into this place. We cannot wait to return with our group of friends this Fall. Thank you.

Wow! Our third time at Down by the River and it is absolutely still our favorite B&B. This time we got to meet my brother and his wife here to join in the DBTR fun. We all had an absolute wonderful time. Darryn and Liz once again proved why they should be southern Arizona’s B&B hosts of the year! Just when I thought chef Liz wouldn’t be able to top our previous breakfasts, she blew us away with an exciting, delectable and beautiful breakfast each of the 4 mornings of our stay. On our last night, we wanted to grab some takeout and bring it back to eat at DBTR. Darryn recommended a broasted chicken place, and while I arched my eyebrows when he told me it was located in the Texaco station in Benson, we gave it a try and it was nothing short of amazing. The lesson here is, don’t doubt Darryn’s recommendations. He was spot on about the chicken. We have decided to make DBTR an annual trek. Can’t wait to return!

Always a pleasure to have some of the Riley clan here at DBTRB&B. And seeing Mike after so many years straight off the boat from Thailand was the icing on the Cake...looking forward to the next annual pilgrimage.

This place is the most relaxing and peaceful place I've ever experienced! The rooms are beautiful yet very comfortable. The decor is something you won't find anywhere else, each room so different. Breakfast is served with everything done to perfection. I didn't want to leave. I'll be back soon...can't wait. Liz and Darren couldn't be better host and hostesses! This is a place where you keep coming back.

This place is absolutely beautiful...the bed was soooo comfortable and the room was so inviting. The breakfasts were incredible... lots of food and so delicious. The hosts are so accommodating. Even lit the heater outside so my husband and I could sit out at night and watch the moon come up. I would actually give this place a 10 rating... thanks again for everything. Chuck and Linda

Had another great time at Down By The River B&B! This was our second visit and we can't wait to head back. Darryn and Liz are amazing hosts and make you feel at home as soon as you step in the door. The rooms are spacious and vibrant. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our room had a private fridge and coffee maker. You are completely accommodated at DBTR. And then there's the food...In what can only be described as gastro gourmet, you will be greeted with a morning smoothie and full breakfast. Liz's cooking skills are unmatched!! After breakfast sit on the terrace, read a book, and watch the birds. Go explore the surroundings around southern AZ. DBTR is a great getaway for all! Thanks again Darryn and Liz, we'll be back!!

We have 3 rooms still available. The rates for the cowboy and bird rooms are $150 and our small room is $123.30. There is also a 6.05% tax added. This is a minimum 2 night stay because of Helldorado weekend in Tombstone. You can go to our website and book the room there or call us at 520-720-9441.
