This was an absolute find!! What a gem in downtown Prescott.. My hubby and I had a date night there last night; and what a quaint authentic Western Lodge. From blankets in a basket outside your room to sit on the rocking chair porch or to use near the firepit, Western décor, popcorn, snacks, fruit and fabulous staff and management.
We ordered some Costco to be delivered and when we arrived not only had Carla, another staff member and Colleen taken the time to bring it to our room but they put the champagne in the frigerator so it would be cool along with any other items that needed to be refrigerated. They put a wine opener and 2 wine glasses in our room along with some water.

This lodge is a MUST for anyone who visits Prescott or lives in Prescott.
My hubby and I are planning to do a date night there at least once a month from this month forward.

Thank you for a fabulous experience.

From the moment we walked in Carla made our stay fantastic. She could sense I had anxiety about an upcoming bike race and the nearby fires, she suggested I have tea with honey that they stock in the lobby. When we saw the next day she asked if I was feeling better. She was super accommodating with getting us towels, water and she left little boxes of cracker jacks on the doors. There is coffee, water, juice, snacks in the lobby.

Since this isn’t a chain it has charm in excess! I had read the rooms were small but was pleasantly surprised we could store 4 mountain bikes, two adults and two schnauzers just fine. We loved we could walk easily to the square and across the street to a Walgreens. The outside porch with rocking chairs is very relaxing even on a busy road and at night there is a fire pit. The A/C worked great and I loved that there is a ceiling fan, I am used to one at home.

The bathroom is almost comically small which was only a problem for my tall husband showering but it’s an old lodge. Being on a busy road you can hear a lot of things at night, we ended up buying earplugs. But small bathroom and needing earplugs still doesn’t knock a star off for me.

This is a lovely little inn. My daughter and I stayed for 1 night and loved it. The location is great. We were able to walk across the street to Sprouts. The gentleman at check in was very considerate. The lobby is stocked with complimentary provisions like cookies, milk, juice. The room was very cozy, but what it lacked in size it made up for in amenities. Nice fridge, microwave and little table area, closet and vanity. Bathroom is teeny tiny so if you are a larger person it maybe a little challenging to maneuver, and ladies shaving may not happen! But the shower was strong and hot. There is a really great porch with comfy chairs to relax in. Rooms had tea and cocoa available to make. Phone charging port. Nice toiletries. Is it modern? Not at all. But it feels like an old western grandparents house. Comfy bed. Nice fluffy towels.
Quiet on a Friday night. Very charming. I read the mixed reviews before booking, my opinion is that the people complaining should have picked a big name chain hotel if they wanted that kind of experience. This was a step back in time in the most charming way.

I don’t get the attraction. Old motel remodeled with schmaltzy fake western themed wanted posters and junk. Looks like a bad yard sale. Located directly on a very busy street, parking is tricky at best and can be dangerous as you try to back out into traffic.
Rooms are TINY and cluttered. Heat and AC are entirely inadequate. In our room, the toilet blocks the shower and, in February, it’s absolutely freezing in there.
The bed is cheap and hard.
There’s coffee and danishes right outside our door so the other guests gathered outside to kibitz and socialize At 05:00 on Sunday morning.
First and last time here. It’s expensive for the accommodations IMO and there are far too many better choices in Prescott.

Are you the type of person who enjoys listening to your fellow guests getting louder and louder as they get drunk outside on the "porch" until all hours? Then this is the place for you. They ask for quiet time after 10 p.m. and no alcohol outside of the rooms but they do not enforce it. The manager even joins in !! Unfortunately we endured 3 sleepless nights at this "quaint" and "rustic" lodge (motel). The rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are so small you can't turn around in the shower. Not to mention that you are mere feet from a main road. Stay anywhere else but this place.

Cute on the exterior. But beware. The place is extremely small. No place for suitcases. Lean over the toilet to use the sink. Shower about 3x3 at the best. Full of Knick knacks. Claustrophobic feel. Reeks of bleach. Outlets don't work to charge cell phones. Double bed with thin sheet and very thin bedspread. No blanket. Not worth $100 a night. Not in the mood for any of this. Not a room you can stay in during the day.

We stayed at Sheldon St. Lodge for the first time for 2 nights in July. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Whiskey Row and to a large park where we could walk our 2 dogs who came with us. We stayed in Room #3 which is right next to the intersection of Marina and Hwy 89. The light from the stoplights come through the windows and the only thing separating you from the street is the width of the sidewalk. Our dogs would peek through the curtains and passing pedestrians and motorists could see right into our room. It's not a big deal if you have a short stay, and I understand sometimes you don't get your room choice if you are traveling with pets; but I would definitely try to get a different room if I were staying longer and didn't have the dogs. Appreciate the free wifi!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your brief stay in Prescott and we were able to accommodate you in most areas. I'm very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with #3, as this is a true surprise to me & my staff. This room IS the closest to the road, however it is also our most requested room. We have many repeat guests stay at our little place and often ask to have this very room. They also say that this room is far superior to other rooms they have stayed in with our other downtown competitors. We have made some minor adjustments to the curtains in response to the light & ability to see into the room since reading this review. Since this was posted, many new reservations have ask to not be placed here. We feel that requesting this, is an extreme disadvantage to getting one of our "top" rooms. We do hope that future guest will understand that it is only one persons opinion. All of our rooms have a charm of there own and are very nice & cozy. However, this room is one of our larger and is the most modern in our historic building. Future reservations could be making a big mistake opting out of this much loved room. Thank you again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you again & would gladly accommodate you in another one of our rooms. Kind Regards, Colleen

Stayed here for three nights at the end of September. The biggest problem we had with this hotel was the fact that I booked a mid-sized room at the beginning of September to prevent any issues like the one we encountered. We had to bring our dog as we were waiting our house to close escrow and the entire town of Prescott was booked for Oktoberfest. I called a few days before to confirm our reservation and the fact that we had a mid-size room, and was told then that we were going to be squeezed into their smallest queen room because someone had extended their stay. Really? I booked this room three weeks earlier and didn't get preference for a bigger room? When we arrived, we understood what small meant. We could barely fit ourselves and our dog in there much less our suitcases. I had to lean over the toilet to brush my teeth and the bathroom wasn't even big enough for me (I gave up taking a shower after the second day). The last night, we started getting bit by cockroaches. Lovely. We paid over $300 for cockroaches? And then when we finally checked out, the front desk staff DENIED they had a cockroach problem, even when my boyfriend showed them the bite mark on his neck. Nice. Staff has not even contacted us for a refund or an apology at this point. Don't stay unless you like tight quarters or cockroaches. If I didn't have to give a star, I wouldn't.

Dear Guest, It is very unfortunate that your stay with us was unsatisfactory. We always want our guests to leave us feeling happy & satisfied. As a working owner who is on site almost daily, I can guarantee 100% that you did not have roaches in your room. For many years running, we have kept a 100% compliance score (with very kind remarks) on our Health Department report. Unsolicited online reviews and in-room comment cards from past guests can also reveal this. If you encountered a roach, I'm afraid that you brought it with you. We are available 24/7 to assist guests with any issues or problems during their stay (and after). At no time during your 3 nights (and late check-out or after departure) did you or your boyfriend contact me or my staff with a complaint. A bite or bug was NEVER shown or presented to me or my staff either. Cleanliness, maintenance & customer satisfaction are our top priorities. We are not a 4 or 5 star resort & our rooms and bathrooms are not extra large like most chain properties. However, we do our very best to offer a clean, safe, cozy, unique & PEST FREE room in the heart of beautiful downtown Prescott. Are we worthy of a 5 star Trip Advisor review? To some, absolutely YES & others we simply are not. It's all a matter of personal opinion & taste, what is important to a guest and the kind of experience they choose to have. If you were so unhappy, why didn't you come to the office or call to address your concerns? Instead, you have decided to take your problem online. It is a surprise to me that you are a local of Prescott. I patronize small businesses daily and I would ALWAYS speak with a small business owner or manager with a problem meriting this course of action. A discount or refund could have easily been obtained if you simply advised us of your issue. Your boyfriend (who I have on camera almost hitting a pedestrian when leaving) peeled out of our parking lot after I approached him to thank him for his business. He only at that time yelled that he had a problem. I asked him to come & speak to me about it, and he refused. You want an apology from us, yet in the 10 years I've owned my business, I have never encountered rudeness in this form. You paid the basic room price (not Deluxe), we allowed your extra large dog to stay here, we gave you a $25.00 dinner voucher to a historic restaurant on Whiskey Row (which I see you also were unsatisfied with per your review skills). You were asked daily if you needed anything & if your room was satisfactory. Never did you complain or voice that you were unhappy. I regret the fact that you will not recommend us to others nor will you patronize us in the future. However, we clearly were not what you were looking for and are not a match for you or your needs. This could have been worked out very easily, however you obviously had an alternative agenda. Kind Regards, Colleen

I absolutely LOVED this place! Gorgeous, historic motif, nicely appointed room with great amenities: fridge, sink, snack, water, beautiful bedding, and cozy atmosphere. Lodge is within walking distance of historic downtown Prescott and Whiskey Row. Hot coffee, fruit and pastries waiting in the lobby every morning. Across the street is a Sprouts grocery, Walgreen, etc. I will definitely go back!

The Sheldon Street Lodge in Prescott, AZ is a relatively charming property with some nice attention to detail, but overall a pretty average stay. The property is old, and while the maintenance has been kept up, it shows its age. For example, the sink, toilet, shower, bed, etc. all need to be updated. I stayed in unit #7, which is very small, fine for one person, but two would a struggle. Even the bed was but a double size, what you would expect from the 19th century when this property was likely constructed.

The bathroom was so small that you could barely shut the door while on the toilet. It’s difficult to navigate around the bathroom sink because the toilet is in the way, and the shower is so small it’s difficult to raise your arms above your head to wash your hair.

The staff was very nice and friendly and they do have some nice amenities, such as higher end shampoo and conditioner, along with beverages and a few snacks in both the lobby and the room. The room has a small fridge and microwave, which was nice.

The property is located right on the street, so the road noise can be a bit loud, but the in-wall air conditioning unit provides some decent white noise. In my room, there were ample towels, almost too many towels because clearly only one person can sleep in the tiny bed. This seems to be a waste, and could save money to reduce the overnight accommodation price. The lighting could also be improved. It’s a decent property, but I’m not sure it warrants the high rating that it has. And definitely not worth the money that I paid, which with tax was nearly $200/night. Overall it’s a nice property and centrally located, just a short walk to the courthouse and whiskey Row with plenty of restaurants nearby and a grocery store right across the street.
