The hotel is dirty and not safe. I would not leave my elderly mother there. We went in to cancel and called to cancel. The hotel would not accept cancellation and still charged us. The inside was poorly lit and there was one person at desk. Not recommended and they steal your money.
The hotel was close to where I needed to go and also restaurants. The rooms were very clean except somebody had left coffee grounds in the coffee pot. I loved the free WiFi ,the fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and Iron in the room. The front desk staff were very friendly . one night I was awakened by work on the street. But the next night I slept well, The price was right.
This property was clean but very basic. The only area to eat breakfast is the outdoor covered patio. Good for a 1 night stay. Breakfast offered waffles, yogurt, toast, sausage, cubed eggs, and potatoes.
To start off make sure you go to the right SureStay on Van Buren, I accidentally got a Lift to the wrong SureStay, THERE IS TWO lol. Anyway, the rooms are awesome in my opinion. when you walk in it is all laminate hardwood floors with a nice big king bed ( at least the one I stayed in). the room is set up very nicely and simple, and just what I needed after a long day at the convention center. I loved the old motel feel and being able to get to my room from the outside. The only thing that I have to complain about the rooms is that the first night I was there the floor was very dirty and could not walk around barefoot. Short easy 10 min walk to downtown and a good breakfast to start our day off.
Looking out your window you would never believe this was “downtown” anywhere, let alone the 5th largest city in the US. But you are only about 6 blocks away, a 7 minute walk to the center of Phoenix, a real and growing downtown, the central stop for the city’s light rail line and a quick $2 trip to the airport. This is a well-maintained motel that won’t break your budget. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is clean and in good condition, as is everything else here although not exactly modern. Wifi is good, the room has a good sized fridge and a microwave, the flat-screen TV has DirecTV including HBO. I never heard noise from my motel neighbors, but I did hear some outside noise and a surprising amount of traffic considering that it’s not near an interstate highway. There’s free breakfast in the morning: you can grab coffee and use the waffle machine near the front desk then eat in the outdoor patio next to the parking lot. There’s also a McDonald’s a couple of blocks away and you can walk to dozens of much better restaurants. There were only two quirky things here that I didn’t like. All the light bulbs have antique-style bulbs with no shades, so you are always trying not to stare at the glaring lights - even though the room itself could be brighter. And, the nightstands by the bed are boxy metal shelves which oddly attacked the magnets in my iPad cover and my watch charger. A little weird, but nothing that would keep me from staying here again.…
