Nestled on a cliffside, the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort is lauded for its stunning views and multiple swimming pools. Guests commend the friendly staff and the overall cleanliness of the resort, highlighting the tidiness of rooms and pools. However, travelers have called out the need for updates throughout the property, from the rooms to certain amenities. Although the spacious suites are a plus, some reviewers question the resort's value, pointing to steep prices for on-site dining and golf, as well as occasional maintenance and service hiccups.

We celebrated our one year anniversary and appreciated the upgrade to a Superior Suite from the Front Desk team. The suite was clean and well maintained for an older property and we loved the extra room. We also appreciated the late departure granted as Diamond members. Only concern was we ordered in room dining for Breakfast and was surprised to receive our food in to go containers placed in a paper bag. It took away from experience of the stay, but we understand the reasoning. Overall we loved the stay and plan on returning soon. Hopefully we’ll be able to enjoy the many amenities on property. Thank you Pointe Tapatio Cliffs Team!

We stayed at this location because of a relative’s wedding, and I have to say that I was shocked at how mediocre this experience was considering it’s advertised as a Hilton resort. You can tell that this place had to have peaked years ago because the facilities are rundown and very dated. The only nice area of the resort was the lobby—which was why I was surprised our rooms didn’t have the same somewhat pleasant feeling.

We got adjoining rooms (2 rooms connected by a door) that served us well, though the rooms themselves left much to be desired. There was a strange odor in our room that smelled of bathroom waste, and there were stains and rust on the doors. Floors were dirty so we had to wear socks and/or flip-flops. The shower in one of our rooms made it difficult to bathe because of a relentlessly loud squeaking sound that would ring every time someone was showering. Frankly, these rooms did not feel worth the price.

The service was generally good though! The staff that delivered us our room service were attentive and kind enough to give us extras if needed. Same goes for the employees that drove us around the resort to get to certain locations without having to walk. You can tell the place is understaffed, however, as the facilities were dirty and barren (specifically, the restaurant was empty, and there was only one employee there who ignored us while we were walking around confused and hungry). Speaking of hungry, the food was outstanding. We ate at the restaurant by the pool which was delicious. Our room service was very tasty as well so that’s a plus.

Overall, the experience was very underwhelming. It did not feel like we were at a Hilton resort at any point in time, which is a shame because the potential is definitely there.

Ok where to begin, this was a wonderful experience from start to finish. I booked over the phone with a Hilton representative which was quick and easy, I am a Arizona resident so I received a discounted rate, thats always a plus !! I arrived at the hotel on Friday afternoon, waited in the lobby to check in for maybe 10 minutes, and then we were on our way. We were in building 12 which was not to far away from the main pool, we walked sometimes and others we text the # provided and got picked up in the golf cart (the kids loved that). There was a pool directly across the street from our room, it was smaller and much more quiet than the main pools. The main pool in The Falls was very nice and the water slide was AMAZING per my kids and husband. All the staff was exceptional and the food at the Cascade Bar was actually really good. My favorite favorite part was the jalapeño poppers at the Adult pool 10 outta 10 you MUST TRY. The rooms were nice and clean nothing fancy in this building ( I did hear from people in the pool the main building rooms are nicer) will stay in one of those next time. My husband and son took advantage of their 1 hour of free golf and had a blast. Check out was a breeze, and the text customer service was sooooo helpful. Thank you to all the staff at Tapatio for making this a wonderful experience, being a local we will be back for sure!!!! Ohhhh and they had a pool movie night on Saturday which was sooooo much fun. It was really an awesome stay !!!

Thank you for your detailed and glowing review, Anita! We're delighted to hear that you had a wonderful experience from start to finish. It's great to know that the booking process was quick and easy and that you enjoyed the discounted rate for Arizona residents. We're pleased that you found the check-in process smooth and that building 12's proximity to the main pool was convenient for your family. The golf cart rides sound like a hit with the kids! It's fantastic that you and your family enjoyed the various pool areas, especially the water slide at The Falls and the quieter pool across from your room. Your compliments on our staff, the food at the Cascade Bar, and the jalapeño poppers at the Adult pool are much appreciated. We'll make sure to pass along your kind words to our team. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort in the future! If there's anything else we can do to make your next visit even better, please email our team at enjoy.tapatiocliffs@hilton.com. Thank you for being a valued guest! -John Peart, General Manager

We enjoyed a 1 night stay and time in the pools during the Phoenix summer heat. We did it as a staycation. Rooms were good, pools in the courtyards are supposed to close at 11p I believe but it was loud beyond that time (adult pool) which was a little annoying. Got coffee and pastries from the on site cafe in the lobby and Liz was amazing! She was so friendly and seemed to have the bags to wrap stuff up which was a nice touch (ziplock not just a paper bag).

The resort is spread out over a significantly large property. Parking near your room can be extremely challenging unless you are adjacent to the large parking lot. They are incredibly understaffed and therefore everything from restaurant to room service is overly slow. This hotel does NOT provide maid service on a daily basis and our room didn't even have minimal supplies upon check in. This is not expected from a Hilton property especially at over $500 per night. The photos on the website are obviously from this hotel's heyday and not taken in its current condition.

Good luck getting help if you have any issues… in fact I’ve been waiting in line at the front desk for 30 minutes attempting to get help and it’s not the first time during my trip.

When we checked in our room didn’t have towels and we ran straight to the pool when we got there so we didn’t notice until we got back and needed to rinse the chlorine. When we called guest services for help nobody answered the phone. We tried 3 times and stayed in the phone one of the times for almost 3 minutes (we felt silly but were really hoping someone could rescue us and deliver towels). We ended up having to go back to the front desk to get towels where I had to wait almost 20 minutes because there’s only one person at the desk and the person in front of you might be checking in. I was told to just text them using a number which is great and all but you should tell people you don’t answer the phone and if you need anything to text. They told us to text for the golf cart ride not for things like towels. Aside from that there was so much chlorine in the pools it burned our eyes and gave my daughter and I rashes on our legs. The food at the restaurant was salty and over dressed. It could be great with a lighter hand.

Our stay was just ok and for not being in the ideal location to attractions and restaurants it would be nice if the amenities were better and the pools weren’t chlorine bombs.

Pros-
quiet room
Good curtains to shut out light
Gorgeous outside look
Enough pools and hot tubs
Good drinks by the pool
No bugs
Good location close enough to airport and town

Cons-
Parking is nearly impossible
Driving on the hotel campus is terrifying
Had to call to ask for a microwave
“Poolside” room was 2 buildings and a hill away from the pool

This place checked the main boxes I care about. The sun didn’t wake us, no bugs, and the walls were concrete so I didn’t live in fear of my kids disturbing other guests.
After stressing when I realized there was no microwave in the room to heat up our leftovers i Got up the courage to call and ask for one and they brought it promptly. Glad i asked! A younger more timid me wouldn’t have asked.
The hotel campus is absolutely gorgeous. Looks like Spain.
However... the driving is also like Europe. We had a full size suv and there was no room for it. We had to back down a whole road at one point in front of our building and twice we needed to call the front desk and have them park our vehicle somewhere and drop us off because there was no parking near our building. Like... this isn’t Europe. We don’t have a massive population on a tiny strip of land here. No excuse for such a lack of parking and difficult skinny roads. In Europe you see small cars that can traverse their roads. Here we have vans and suvs and need roads that fit them. Get with the program, resort!
Also we paid an up charge for a poolside room but the path beside our building was gated off and locked so we wound up having to walk around 2 buildings and up and down a hill in blazing heat. I’m pregnant and had paid the up charge to avoid that, so that was annoying.
Aside from hating leaving or returning to our room because of the drive and parking situation etc. it was a good time.
The rooms were spacious and quiet. We could barely hear our kids from the other room in the suite.
When we called for another blanket and pillows they were promptly delivered.
When we interacted with staff they were kind and fun.
The poolside food and drinks didn’t carry as much of an up charge as I had expected them to. And the drinks were delicious.
I never saw bugs, only many birds. My kind of place!
I would come here again.

I wanted a hotel with a good balcony. Some of the rooms have balcony’s are a simple metal railing that you can look through. Most were these concrete lattice fences—not something you could look through. If you stood up—it was a great view—from some rooms, many rooms look at the building in front of you or the parking lots. Internet did not work. But cell coverage was good. The rooms are comfortable enough. We had a basic suite & there was a separate sitting room. The AC filter hadn’t been cleaned in forever. And my husband could smell stale smoke. Not sure if it was from years ago when people were allowed to smoke or if it was from people smoking outside. We had to close the balcony door the first night due to the cigarette smoke & pot smoke drifting in from other nearby balconies. It’s not a walkable property, but they will shuttle you around via golf carts. The pickle ball and tennis courts were great. In addition to the large pools, There are many small pools and hot tubs—probably designed this way due to the property’s layout and cliff side location.

I have stayed here many times in the past and each time that I come here the rooms look older and not being updated. This is a very large and spread out resort built on a mountain side with many beautiful views. There is the main building with the rooms surrounding two pool areas. There is a family pool and an adult pool. I have stayed in all areas of the resort in the past. The outlying rooms are built on the cliffs up steep drives with limited parking near your room. You will be far enough away from the main building and the restaurants so you can either drive or walk to the main attractions if you walk there are no sidewalks and if you drive there is a good chance your parking spot will be taken. The main lobby has a coffee bar that serves Starbucks and snacks. There is a cantina restaurant by the adult pool but it wasn't open when we were there.. The restaurant selection was limited and the two restaurants were outdated . There is a restaurant on the top of the mountain but we couldn't get reservations because its open to all of Phoenix. My suggestion to management is to keep a block of taples open for resort guests. We did eat appetizers at the bar which were just ok. The water park is the main attraction. This resort needs more of a sandwich selection. All in all the food at the water park pool was the best . We stayed there a full week and had adjoining rooms with my family so this made our small room look bigger when we opened the adjoining door. We did a lot of hiking every day. This resort is located across the street from a state park at North mountain so you have access to a lot of great hiking trails. There is also a great golf course here.We paid a lot of money to stay here and I think next time we vacation in the Phoenix area we will look at other options for the dollars that we spent. I would recommend this resort for families with children because the water park pool was enjoyable. I would highly recommend this resort for hikers and golfers because the trails are right there as well as the championship golf course. My final thoughts on this resort is that it's way to big and spread out and under staffed . The buildings need updating. The cost is too high compared to other resorts.

We booked a pricey room (about $300/night before taxes) and were surprised to discover upon check in that our room would only be cleaned after the 4th day. We should take out own garbage out and if we needed a towel change, we could request one the day before it was needed, "give us 24 hours notice." Obviously 4 people in a room with 3 towels proved an immediate nuisance so we called the front desk. Correction, we attempted to call the front desk. The phone (from the 80s maybe) didn't work so well. There were a few obvious room problems that maintenance had to address immediately (which they did to the best of their ability). These problems were obvious and should have been reported by housekeeping.

The biggest disappointment was the WiFi. We were there for a conference, so the wifi issues were especially annoying. The front desk told us it's always like that.

We had an overlap from check out time until our conference ended, so we requested a late check out. Upon check in we were told this wouldn't be a problem, just ask the night before check out. The night before departure, we asked and were told flatly, no. Early on the morning of departure, I spoke with Victoria, at the front desk. She informed me that there was already a long list of 47 rooms needing late check out. I asked to be added to that list. Victoria told me that there isn't really a list. There's just no late check outs.

A lot of the other gripes are true: the hot tubs are more like warm baths, the struggle to keep up with the demand for pool towels is real, the property is dated, the two queen beds are crammed in, jutting into the doorway, creating the perfect spot to stub a toe (frequently).

On the plus side, the view of the mountains from our room was lovely, and the easily accessible walking trails were wonderful. Zack, at the front desk, was great. The folks working at the golf pro shop were great, too.

We do try to accommodate all requests, but we are limited to what is available. Full housekeeping services have been modified to a "on advance request basis", but towels and other in-room items are typically able to be brought to you at any time through our text messaging service. We are aware of the Wi-Fi issues and are making every effort possible to improve connections at the resort, working with the local service providers. You might need reservations for the tennis court, but the 2 pickleball courts were not busy at all. You get the ball and rackets at the pro shop just around the corner of the Point of Tyme restaurant. If you want to know for sure call they pro shop, we always talked to Mike.

I would call ahead and ask what is being offered for the kids and if you can use the pool. The pool area does have a bathroom to change in, but does not have showers. I found the staff VERY helpful and we had no problems checking in a little early. We do have the Hilton app and checked in online. It alerted us to our room keys being ready for us. Enjoy your stay!
