Find another hotel or don’t come to Phoenix. If this is my only choice next time, I will not travel. This is not a “sleek” hotel as paid reviewers have posted but rather a run down, under equipped fleabag with inadequate amenities. The showers are hard to get started, the beds are creeky, and it’s impossible to get a good nights sleep here. Though the front desk staff us friendly, there are no services or amenities. I am astonished at the high prices even after spring training has ended. Are you kidding me?
I usually stay at the Hyatt downtown but this place looked so cute and was priced right. I really found a gem and will be staying here moving forward. The service was great. Jessy at the front desk was so helpful and pleasant! I would highly recommend this place if you don't mind not being in the middle of downtown!
I needed a quick room for the night, and the Clarendon was nearby and sounded like a reasonable price. It was dark (9:00 PM) when I arrived; the lighting surrounding the Clarendon was warming, but the location was??? I couldn’t tell. However, when I walked in and heard the crooning sounds of Frank Sinatra, people sitting & sipping on the outside patio, and the immediate service, I was absolutely at ease. Long story short, the room was VERY clean, the view overlooking the pool was exquisite. I felt like I had stepped into a Las Vegas snazzy hotel. If you like “Retro”, this is IT! Staff is incredible!!!
Thanks so much to all the staff, especially Aubrey and Brent, who assisted me during my unplanned, several day stay. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hot tub was relaxing and having the restaurant on site is an added bonus. I enjoyed relaxing on the roof top and in the secure pool/hot tub area. The pool and hot tub could use a few minor touch-ups—please pass that on the upper management. My room was very comfortable and clean. If I’m ever in Phoenix again, I’ll return to The Clarendon Hotel and Spa.
We stayed at the Clarendon one night after flying in on a later flight into PHX. It wasn't too far from the airport and easy to navigate to. The things that Clarendon does well - they do very well. This is a mid-century hotel in a quiet residential area of the city so there wasn't a lot of traffic or street noise, which was nice. The front desk staff was wonderfully friendly and welcoming and got us into our room quickly. We noticed that the hotel's restaurant bar had quite a few people hanging out. We dropped our things in our room and came down to have some snacks and enjoy the live music outdoors - it was very pleasant outdoors in January with the heaters and our food from the restaurant, Fuego, was excellent! Our Bloody Marys were so good (and spicy - almost too spicy for us east coasters but we let the ice melt and enjoyed). There were only a few small hiccups with our stay. The hotel oddly did not provide hand towels in our room (or many towels at all) - that's a preference thing for me. I guess we could have asked for some but we were only there one night. Also, the rooms had cool decor - we liked the dark paint, tall narrow window overlooking the pool and the bright artwork. However, the blinds over the window were broken and wouldn't stay up (or go down further than they did), and there were some spots where the paint was peeling a little bit, but I wouldn't say the room was shabby. It was clean and suitable and the bed was very comfortable. The pool area looked awesome - wish we could have used it! I also liked the whole 50s/60s vibe of the hotel with the 'indoor/outdoor' hallways. Nice landscaping outside as well. Our favorite portion of the stay was our breakfast burritos they provided. They were some of the best food we had in our Arizona trip! Really delicious and filling. Just to note, for those that have a preference, this hotel is cannabis friendly now that it's legal in AZ. We didn't hear or smell any cannabis during our stay but it wouldn't bother us if we did.…
I will start off with by saying that I booked here after having driven by this place numerous times while I lived in Phoenix. Now that I live in Washington state we decided to stay here for it's central location to the things that we wanted to do. The room was pricey ($225 roughly per night with the added fees) and rooms although remodeled at some point in the past were not worthy of that price. Our first room had a king bed and about every 15 to 20 mins somekind of machinery (outside the room) would switch on and it was LOUD!!! So that made for a very RESTLESS night! SO I asked to be moved and they did just that to a room with 2 queen beds which was fine and this room had a view of the parking lot. However the window in this room was old and did not close all the way so we heard every click of the car alarms, doors opening & closing, the kid on the skateboard etc. Plus the bathroom had no body wash or conditioner but the bed was comfy. So yeah not someplace I would be staying again. The staff tried to accomodate us but they did what they could with what they had to work with. The restaurant downstairs made the experience worth it though. Please see my sep review of that place, a great experience. So it is great they have a great place for food but the rooms were really lacking for our experience. Maybe other rooms are better? Who knows I will not be finding out in future instead I will stay someplace else and come for the food.…
It's unique and colorful, funky and friendly. I tend to stay at super nice hotels because I feel like I deserve the best. However, the chains (Hilton, Marriott, Wyndam) tend to be kind of blah and generic after awhile. I decided to give Clarendon a shot because it was close enough to downtown yet not right in the middle of it, to be convenient for my business travel, as well as the pics looking cool and different. Very glad I did! Pros: Super friendly staff Working elevator Fridge, coffee maker Retro, funky vibe Comfy bed Not too bright of a room (this is a plus for me) On-site amazing restaurant Grab and go breakfast burritos in the morning Snacks and sodas for free throughout your stay Cannabis-friendly (not something I care about, but a plus for others) Clean Super cool pool area Rooftop bar seating with great views Onsite parking Fantastic location Did I mention, odorable?! Cons: No microwave in room, although there is one for your use in the lobby No phone in room (in the day of cell phones, though, who cares?) Have to pay for parking (although the friendly desk person waived my fee) Bathroom could use an extra light over the mirror, it's a little dark for getting ready Overall, I loved my stay here and would like to come back for a pleasure trip, and stay longer, next time!…
Nice hotel with great vibes. I've been twice now and will likely revisit next time I'm in Phoenix. I've never used it but they have a big pool with a hot tub, seems relaxing. Plus a nice restaurant inside that hosts live music and offers brunch and dinner menus depending on time of day. But most importantly- the staff are all really kind and helpful with recommendations on restaurants in the area! Backpackers will appreciate this! They offer to hold your bags if you arrive into town before check in!
I stayed here last night. I was warmly greeted by Jess and Kenn. I hadn't been here in a couple years and Kenn explained to me that there is a refundable $50 security deposit. However it will be returned to me in 72 hours. My room temperature was set at a good temperature. I liked that there was a universal remote to adjust the temperature in the rooms. The bed was super comfortable and so were the pillows. I noticed my smart fridge didn't work and I went to the lobby to ask for maintenance to take a look at it. Tony from maintenance came by and reset the fridge. Then I was able to keep my water and soda cold. The tv in the bedroom didn't work at all and when Tony brought a new remote over and paired the remote to the tv, it worked again. I really appreciated that Kenn and Jess sent Tony over so quick to help me with the tv. Later in the evening I had trouble setting the temperature. I went to the lobby and Patrick told me that you have to point the remote at the unit. Everyone was so friendly at this hotel. The guests noise volume was to a minimum. Best hotel experience ever. I liked that complimentary snacks and soda are included during the hotel stay. I slept really well and was very pleased with my overnight stay. …
The staff at the hotel were all so nice and accommodating. This place has cool vibes, not pretentious at all! They provided unlimited water, soft drinks drinks and snacks throughout our stay which I thought was a nice touch. They also had fresh breakfast burritos for the guests in the morning! I love that this hotel is cannabis friendly. They have a great rooftop, cannabis friendly bar with amazing views of the city! The hotel hosts lots of cannabis friendly or themed events as well. I attended their Halloween bash and it was AMAZING! I'm also attending their NYE bash and look forward to what they have in store!
