At the Arizona Biltmore, LXR Hotels & Resorts, guests consistently commend the hotel for its spotless surroundings and meticulously kept rooms. The amenities, including varied pools and lush landscaping, receive high marks, though the cost of certain activities is sometimes noted as a downside. While the central location is a plus for easy access to Phoenix's offerings, opinions on the rooms are mixed, with some criticism directed at privacy concerns and datedness.
The hotel's atmosphere is often described as elegant, yet the value proposition is questioned due to pricey services. Service quality reports are mixed, with mentions of both commendable and less satisfactory experiences.

Im giving a 3 star rating because some aspects of the stay were great, and some not so great. We did a 4 night stay over labor day weekend, and it was super busy. Upon arriving the self park is $22 a day, while the valet was $30. For the extra $8 a day, I recommend the valet, as your car is ready in minutes when you're ready to go out, and the car park is quite a distance from the resort entrance. One of the valets was rude, but the rest were very friendly. First off our room was not ready when we arrived, so we had to recollect our luggage, and go back out to eat. Upon returning the room was still not ready, and were given the lame excuse that they were "putting the final touches on the room" and "they were inspecting the room", really just apologize and offer some sort of compensation or an upgraded room that is ready rather than excuses and BS. All in all, we didn't get to the room until 45 mins AFTER the 4pm check in time. They spray some kind of fragrance in the lobby, which is ok passing through, but if you've got to sit there any amount of time, and you have any fragrance sensitivities, its going to be an issue. When we got to the room we discovered the thermostat is locked out at 20°C and we normally sleep at 15.5°C. It didn't matter though because the AC unit wasn't even up to making the room cooler than 22°C at best, so 4 nights of hot, restless, no covers sleep, was probably the most disappointing part of the stay. The beds were not fantastic but OK, the pillows are awful, and feel like laying your head on a balloon, then you sink into them when the air is pushed out, and the two now ballooned sides wrap around your head. Very uncomfortable to try to sleep with. The resort grounds themselves are quite beautiful and well kept. Housekeeping is good and on par, room was made up everyday and clean. We frequented the pool often and chose the adult only pool to avoid children. Loud, obnoxious drunks hanging around the pool was a bit of a turn off at times and it's a very nice pool but was unfortunately quite dirty. Hottub was also quite nice and the gym is excellent for a hotel gym. Nothing was offered by the counter staff to make up for the room being ready late, so we asked to have the resort fees waived and they agreed to provide us with a credit. When we checked out there was no record of the fees being waved, so they tried to do us dirty us on that, shame on you Biltmore. All in all, definitely a very mixed stay, 3 stars is all we can muster. Would we stay again? I can't honestly say, possibly if the shortcomings were addressed.

The bedroom was very spacious and a very nice bathroom! I enjoyed the soaps and shower gel/shampoo. The pools were absolutely outstanding. Very nice temperature and I believe they use salt water pools which is better for your skin and overall health. Towels were plentiful. Great evening events and entertainment. Tennis courts were very nice with clay and hard court options. Would definitely stay again!

First and foremost this is a beautiful hotel and the staff was wonderful. The room was dirty on when we checked in. I didn’t get photos of everything but one bed had dirty sheets, two light bulbs were out, the table wasn’t wiped down(I had Clorox wipes so no big deal), and I did take a photo of the bathtub having orange residue on ledge.
If you use a walker or wheelchair this hotel room is not accessible. The counter height is too high for someone in a wheelchair, no support bars in tub or shower, and the toilet is not accessible at all if you are wheelchair bound. The doors are a really crazy configuration and I kept banging my are on the door handles due to the tight configuration.
If you need an accessible hotel or resort, stay away. Just because they have a handicapped button doesn’t make it a handicapped room!
I am lucky that I can walk without my walker if needed but I have wheelchair bound friends and they would not have been happy.
They only have two restaurants and they were very expensive and only had prices spicy food that I couldn’t eat. McArther’s was nice and the staff were very helpful in trying to find me food to eat but there were limitations. I ordered from kids menu. Got tired of grilled cheese or hamburgers. Although their hamburger from adult menu was delicious!
The concierge was very nervous very and helpful in telling me about the things to do locally but you really need a car because most things are pretty far from resort.
The hotel is in the middle of desert so expect Palmer bugs, crickets and the like in the hotel. They even have a note to keep windows and doors shut but out door had a one inch gap so…
The pools were nice and did have lifts for the pools and hot tubs. There were plenty of ramps and flat sidewalks for wheelchairs but some were very steep for someone using a chair that the push themselves. I struggled walking up them with my walker.
I didn’t think the hotel was worth the cost and stress if you are disabled.

I recently stayed at the Arizona Biltmore in connection with a conference. While the grounds of the resort were beautiful, they were a bit too expansive for a conference. There was a long walk everywhere (e.g., conference space, hotel rooms, especially the villas) and you just got the sense you were missing fellow attendees because the space was so massive (e.g., two ships passing in the night).
Housekeeping works hard, but their timing was inconsistent. They didn't turn up the first day because I left my room around noon and they skipped my room and said they would double-back in the afternoon, but they never did. Other days they would try to clean the room very early in the morning (when you were just getting out of bed). Room service trays languished in the hallways for collection. At first blush, this does not scream 'luxury'/high end property.
The real highlight was the fitness center and the tennis program, led by tennis pro, Brendan Easterling. I take regular tennis lessons at my local club, and if I could in some way recruit him for my club, I would. I schedule a 60-minute lesson with Brendan, and even in that short amount of time, I felt like I 'upped' my game. Brendan asks really insightful questions at the start to assess not only your skill level, but what your goals are for the lesson. And during the lesson, he was friendly and focused when it came to providing expert feedback. To further support his guidance, and this is what I found endearing even, was that Brendan has a robust binder of photos of tennis pros and their various playing styles to underscore that there is no 'right way to play tennis'.
Lastly, the fitness center is top notch and has any equipment that you would want to use while traveling.

Our stay at the Arizona Biltmore was a great start of our trip. We had visited several 5star hotels before, but this hotel was a wonderful experience and a real resort . It starts with the huge, beautiful and impressive entrance hall, followed by the many pools (we even found one for our family alone!) and the wonderful gardens. If you stroll around the grounds you always have the wish to take pictures of all the architectural details, flowers, palm trees, cacti and humming-birds. They offer a hotel tour, which unfortunately we hadn't the time to do, but I'm sure it would have been very interesting.
POSITIVE: Our room was huge and beautiful with an extremely good bed (maybe the best mattress I had ever in a hotel) and wonderful duvet and pillows. The windows were large, with french doors and very positive: screen against insects. It was nice, that there was a fridge and not a minibar. The TV was large with many free movies and a personal message when we entered the room.
best thing: the pools are open all day and all night (except the slide pool)! This is a so wonderful experience in an area where it is hotter at night than it is on a German summerday. For me who has very sensitive skin it is a great possibility to enjoy the pool without a sunburn. At night there were films at the slide pool.
covered parking space for complimentary self parking or valet
very nice and helpful people at the reception
NEGATIVE: the usage of the famous Catalina Pool wasn't allowed for all guests aircondition was very loud and blew directly towards the bed toilet paper could be thicker and softer food and drinks very expensive strange: we got slippers on request, but were told we had to pay for it if we should take them with us. When I mentioned that they would throw away our used slippers, I was told, they would wash the slippers and give them to new guest. I can't believe that, but that didn't affect our positive impression of the Arizona Biltmore. We would love to come back!

This was an anniversary getaway. First time without kids for a very long time. What a place to go. Our visit was only supposed to be a few days but we extended it to 5 nights. We were upgraded to a corner room in the Ocatilla wing. The balcony on our first floor had a sitting area with a propane fire pit. The pool was relatively quiet most of the time. The grounds on this hotel/resort were manicured to perfection. Hard to believe this place opened in the 1920’s. So much history to be aware of. They offer a historical tour we unfortunately were not able to sign up for. As many others have brought out things can be a little pricey but for us it was well worth it. They spare no expense to provide quality throughout their place. To employ this many people is going to cost and they seem to find the right employees as everyone was friendly and good at keeping things clean. Jordan who was in charge followed up to see how everything was going when we there and was very helpful and courteous. When we checked in a young man named Aaron who patiently took the time to get everything correct with our reservation is worth mentioning as he was very kind especially with the pressure of so many checking in to this place. The athletic mansion is worth walking up to at the top of the hill. Also Boris was the valet and was our bellman. Very informative fellow. They allow one hour use of their bikes which we used once to ride along the canal. That is relaxing. The smell of the lobby is nice as it’s a smell called the desert gem. Kind of an essential perfume called palo santo I think. Anyway very nice memorable scent. One thing to do is the hike at camelback mountain. The echo canyon trail takes roughly 2-3 hours to hike total up and down with beautiful views at the top. And the drive to get there is under 10 minutes. Although parking can be difficult with a small parking lot.

The positives: - beautiful grounds, pools - not very far from Phoenix airport - pool bar is beautiful by night
Negatives: - outdated rooms. Our bathroom has the same tile and furnishings as my 15 year old bathroom, which needs gutting. - bad shower, shampoo and conditioner awful. Very poor for a hotel of this class. Shower head was pathetic and cheap. - our room had an adjoining door which leaked light and sound. It was as if there was no door in terms of sound. - restaurants are expensive for what they are
This is a very big resort with many buildings and pools. It takes a bit of time to get around. They claim you can ask a golf cart to take you places but I never saw people being driven around. We asked on the first night, as we didn’t know where we were going n the dark and with luggage in tow, and were blown off. They said it would take 5-7 minutes walking to get there and encouraged us to do so on our own. Not very hospitable!
The beautiful pool you see in the pics is only available to 21+. So if you have kids, you have to go to another pool. The other pools have no food or drink service.
I likely wouldn’t return. For the price this place didn’t impress me that much.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s great to hear that the beautiful grounds, pools, and convenient location near the airport made an impression during your stay. However, it's concerning that aspects of the room and service didn’t meet expectations. Your feedback is valuable and will help in identifying areas that need attention. It's disappointing that the dining options and family-friendly amenities fell short of expectations as well. Your insights are truly appreciated, and we hope to regain your trust on a future stay. I really wanted to love this property…and I DID!! :) But I can’t ignore the other side of my experience. There are only a few rooms in the entire property that are directly above the restaurant that smokes brisket every morning at 3am..guess which room I got? Yea I woke up smelling smoke everywhere, it was extremely potent. Mentioned it to the front desk, no help was offered. Had to open all the windows and air out the room but unfortunately could not get back to sleep. Also, the reviews mentioning being nickeled and dimed here are pretty accurate. I mean $10 for a yogurt parfait in a cup? Craziest price I’ve seen for something like that. Just isn’t necessary. But there are many pros as well! The history, the design, and the grounds are beautiful. The hair products and soap are quality, bed is really comfortable and the pools are amazing. Jackson at the front desk was awesome too. Also, the fact that you can stay at the property the day you check out and use the room key as an amenity key is pretty sweet. I just left my bag with the valet which worked out perfectly. Overall, I loved the ambiance and the people and would definitely come back, as long as I was in a different room

This hotel is historic and is in a beautiful setting. They have a great waterslide pool and activities for kids. This weekend was themed Christmas in July. They had a suds bubble machine meant to mimic snow. and a DJ. They also had a "Ducky race" with a prize for the winner. The pool staff were great. There is plenty of shade by the pool in the AZ heat. The main pool was a little cloudy, probably due to the bather load and sunscreen. There was a beautiful quiet, crystal clear adult pool and another very clear smaller pool away from the main area. As a Diamond member, I was upgraded by the concierge to a poolside firepit room with direct pool access. It was wonderful and much appreciated. The hotel concierge staff acknowledged my daughter's birthday with sparkling wine and even included a bottle of sparking apple cider for the kids. How sweet! and the kids loved drinking it out of champagne flutes. There was a bit of a hiccup at check in and once the room was ready, the digital key would not work. The front desk management and concierge staff owned the situation and I was very pleased and impressed with their service recovery. Thanks to them, we had a great time and a couple of very nice surprises. This was our second year for staycation there and it will be an annual event for sure! I was concerned that the switch from Waldorf to LXR would mean a decline in the level of service and attention and I was glad to see that did not happen.

So disappointing. Returned many years after first fabulous visit hoping the enlarged development and Hilton Branding wouldn’t destroy this architectural gem. Sorry to report that it has. Conceirge don’t work nights so can’t get assistance till following morning. Tried to request bar soap which housekeeper who didn’t speak English couldn’t understand but showed up at 9am on a Sunday morning to clean the room. No turn down service. Lumpy soft beds. Old bathrooms with poor shower heads. Limited streaming services. Same menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner at main restaurant. But probably the worse ambience ever experienced at an upper scale hotel due to the main outdoor seating space where the TV sport broadcast was so loud that you could barely read a book. Walked around to try to find some other space that would be relaxing -not noisy - but other than the adult pool - non existent or so hidden impossible to find. Lots of corporate events so essentially would avoid if looking for a romantic destination.
