This is the type of hotel you visit for it's personality. To get a feel for how things used to be. It's not modern or elegant by today's standards but kind of quaint and charming. Wouldn't recommend staying with kids as the rooms are pretty small. We stayed here for part of comicon weekend and the staff was incredible. Dennis... More

Hotel is close to the Convention Center and a viable alternative if the other hotels are booked. The staff was very courteous and helpful and I had no problems during my stay. There was free Wi-Fi although the speed seems to be throttled and I had quite a few timeouts while loading pages on the internet. The Hotel itself is... More

Dear Miki! Thank you so much for your review and we truly appreciate your business! We are very sorry for the size of the bathroom and the noise level disturbance! We stayed at the Hotel San Carlos in August 2015. The property has a very old world charm and was so cozy. The room was very spacious and the food was spectacular. I would highly recommend for either business or pleasure. As this hotel is only 5 miles from our house, we classified our stay as a staycation!

The hotel and room were fine, and the staff in the hotel are very nice and helpful. For someone claustrophobic, like myself, I was very uncomfortable with the bathroom in particular. It's about the width of a door and goes back like a tunnel about 5 meters or so to the shower in the back. Bed and Pillows were very... More

Good because it's close to the convention center, cheaper than the Westin, and has Vietnamese Cafe in the lobby that serves good (for Phoenix) Vietnamese food). First stay, the bathroom was so small u banged NY she on the commode getting to the shower. Second stay the elevator stopped on the second day so had a 5th floor walk up... More

This hotel was quirky and very historic, but I wouldn't stay here again. The rooms are clean but badly need updating, especially the bathrooms, and pretty loud - could hear everything in the hall and adjacent rooms. It felt difficult to get around and get ready in the room, instead of relaxing that I prefer when traveling for business. If... More

Its a historic Hotel but not for me, the room was very small it had the feel of a low end motel. Nice personnel and it was very clean, except the towels were worn and dingy looking. Parking is $20 a day and who knows where cars are parked because it does not have a garage.

I stayed at hotel San Carlos with my Girlfriend in one room and friends in a nearby room for NYE. Though the view out the window left something to be desired, I did find the building itself to be delightful. The rooms are small and efficient but cozy. If you're looking to be in the heart of downtown without shelling... More

This hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places and is convenient to downtown and the convention center...a five minute walk. Great location in Downtown Phoenix especially if you're attending a conference. Light rail will take you from the airport to 2 blocks away for $2. Hotel is historic but needs updating.
