Pros: super comfy beds and linens; good service at restaurant, valet and pool. Breakfasts were good. Rooms were nice though cramped but not 5 star nice... double beds with small dining area. Only 2 dining chairs. Grounds were immaculate. Cons: very tired 90s property, awkward lobby - felt like checking in a cheap roadside motel. Peeling paint on outside walls at dining terrace. Thick dust on the power outlets on dining deck. Outside Window shades looks like it’s about to fall off the building. Hot tub needs to be resurfaced. Overall the main building needs a major renovation. Spa area was meh and not even close to a 5 star property. Small things like housekeeping trolleys sitting in front of our casita for a few hours unattended, room service trays not picked up in adjoining casitas is un- five star like. Important Note: No housekeeping unless you request 24r in advance due to Covid (seems counterintuitive; more cleaning?). Next day, I had to argue to get full cleaning - I may have forgot the 24 hr notice but seriously, $600 a night and can’t get your room cleaned, especially when we forego the first night? Housekeeping said they could do a “refresh” instead and also noted “we have a lot going on today” and “see what I can do” - not my problem they can’t staff appropriately. Seriously - these are direct quotes. After adamantly demanding a full housekeeping I get a text saying they will do a full housekeeping but told us to be out of the room between a window of time, not when we decide to leave. Seriously FU. One last annoyance, If you need ice, you may or may not get it unless u remind them. First night, called for ice and never came (forgot about it), second day called for ice and came within 5 min (wow what great service - compared to last night lol), third day - called for ice, 15 min, nothing. Call again, wait another 15 min, nothing.... had to leave so went to front desk and asked while checking out. Receptionist apologizes and requested immediately to the restaurant not more than 50 feet away. As soon as we finish paperwork, she forgets (in the span of 2 min) and calls again. I wait another 5 and the other host sees me agitated and gets it himself. Lol. Too bad... great location and lots of potential. Not up to par or evenly remotely close of an Encore or Four Seasons. Definitely not in the same hotel class if that’s what you’re expecting. My two star rating is being generous. …
What an incredible experience we had at The Sanctuary. If you are looking for the ultimate 5-Star luxury property, this is the place. We had been here many many years ago, and its been updated, renovated, and taken luxury to a new level. My wife and son and I stayed here with our dog and we had a fantastic stay. The rooms are fantastic, the staff and service are 5-Star and the food was gourmet. Add the incredible view from the rooms and this is by far "the place to stay" in Phoenix/Scottsdale! We were traveling cross-country, and of all the place we stayed, we felt the safest here, as they are taking extra precautions to disinfect, sanitize and guard against the covid virus. We felt totally safe here!
In need of a lot of updates at the main hotel building. Tidiness and cleanliness lacking around pool area. Big prices for the experience. Staff was extremely good and attentive, only one meal sent out incorrectly but quickly corrected by F&B manager.
My husband and I had a great experience with this hotel. It was our first time staying here. Food was amazing. Drinks were great. The staff was very accommodating. Shuttle service took us to Camelback Mountain for a day hike and picked us up with water on hand. Superb stay!
Exceptional resort, service, spa, and restaurant. We are fortunate to live in the area and have gone to the Sanctuary for our favorite stay-cation. The mountainside rooms all have spectacular views of Paradise Valley. Very close to excellent shopping at Fashion Square Scottsdale and the Biltmore Shops.
