#1 of 5 hotels in Paradise Valley
Travelers' Choice
Mountain Shadows set the benchmark for desert luxury and distinctive design when it first opened in 1959. Now, it’s been completely re-envisioned from the ground up. The brand-new resort is set in the shadow of Camelback Mountain in the serene town of Paradise Valley, an affluent community of Scottsdale, Arizona. Contemporary design is infused with a dash of the 1950's modernism that the original resort was famous for. Mountain Shadows features 183 guest rooms and 33 residences. Savor American fare that’s delightful in its simplicity at Hearth ’61 restaurant, bar and living room. Head to The Citizens Club for fitness classes, organic drinks from the juice bar and relaxing afternoons poolside. The Short Course offers 18 holes of par-3 golf, with options for the novice player and the experienced golfer. After a round, visit Rusty’s for grille fare and brews inside and on the patio. Desert and mountain views throughout the resort set the tone for a stay that’s relaxing yet invigorating.

My partner and I wanted to get out of our home and do a staycation in Phoenix due to COVID-19.We live a few miles away and I have always wanted to stay here. We booked the Immerse King room with an amazing view of Camelback mountain. The check in process was quick even though there were two couples ahead of us. Our room was immaculate and the view, as promised, was picturesque! The soaking tub was great and the bed was extremely comfortable. We ordered room service several times and each thing we order was delicious. I’d highly recommend the guacamole and the tenderloin! Anytime we called the desk for more pillows or more soaking salts, everything was brought up promptly! We loved the pool but found it too hot to be out there. We’re both native Arizonans and know how summers are but we think the addition of more shade and misters would be nice to have outside. We decided to go to the bar and enjoy some amazing drinks from Jim, James(?), and Pamela. Hats off to Pamela’s mimosas! We can’t thank everyone at Mountain Shadows enough for a relaxing and enjoyable staycation! We will definitely be back! Side note, I also wanted to stay at a hotel that I felt we would feel comfortable at that was thoroughly cleaned and followed all required local and CDC precautions. I felt that Mountain Shadows hit all the marks in this category. My partner works in public health and commented on how pleased he was. All the staff wore masks and wore them properly! I can’t tell you how annoyed I get when people have their noses peak out.

Hotel's Favorite
Can’t say enough about this hotel. Beautiful layout and grounds; very retro style and vibe. Room was outstanding - large and unique. Pool and amenities were great. Had breakfast and dinner at Hearth 61 and all meals were terrific and well done. Very attentive service and no real “nickel and dime” type add ins (resort fees/free valet, water in room). Good location for access to everything on area and can’t forget the terrific views of Camelback on one side and Mummy Mountain on the other. This will be our first choice in Scottsdale in future visits. Would give 5+ rating.

My partner and I enjoyed our 4 day stay at Mountain shadows! Patrick, Bill, Coolidge and the rest of the remaining staff at hand guaranteed our stay was above and beyond. Our experience here at 4330 will definitely not be our last, as we are looking to return as soon as possible. Mountain Shadows, thanks again for the extravagant birthday weekend!

This was our 4th time to Mountain Shadows from Arkansas. From a frequent traveler I think this has to be one of the best properties out there. From the cleanliness of the rooms, ascetic of every fine detail and customer service it’s just amazing! The bar scene is great, not too stuffy, pool scene is perfect and Hearth 61 is fantastic. Don’t hesitate to book this property as it’s just super cool.

Mountain shadows is absolutely awesome, from the second you walk in until the moment your trip ends and those doors close behind you... Just phenomenal. Being greeted by Bill although we are in the middle of this situation his attitude and personality shining through his mask, he gave us the opportunity to check in early and our room was cool and clean, we had the privilege to meet the staff who took care of us literally on a one-on-one basis, Raul was a force to be reckoned with as we watched him direct and guide his staff around the pool keeping everybody happy and hydrated to Wesley our bartender with his phenomenal drinks, Nicole Sydney and Reagan at the front desk just without batting an eye took care of every one of our needs, Shea and Amanda at the outdoor bar and grill dealing with 117° temperature those ladies kept the ball rolling, there were no issues everything just felt comfortable and smooth. Even the guests or great not once did we see any trash not once did we experience a negative situation we will absolutely go back to mountain shadows on our next trip back down to Phoenix and I really have to take my hat off to the whole staff at mountain shadows for just being there during the situation and giving us the opportunity to share our life with them.
