Ranked among the top hotels in the Southwest, the AAA Four Diamond Hermosa Inn is a jewel of a hideaway surrounded by an exclusive neighborhood in Paradise Valley, and minutes from Scottsdale and its many attractions. Handcrafted in the 1930s by cowboy artist Lon Megargee as his residence and art studio, the Inn's adobe architecture has kept its "authentic Arizona" character and charm. The 43 newly renovated guest casitas are nestled in a garden setting with breathtaking vistas of the lush desert and Camelback Mountain. Accommodations reflect the southwestern design of the original Casa Hermosa (beautiful house) and most include deep soaking tubs, beehive fireplaces and private patios. The culinary centerpiece is LON's at the Hermosa, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant with a Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator serving globally inspired Arizona fare. The restaurant is complemented by a subterranean wine cellar, a celebrated outdoor dining patio, and LON's Last Drop bar.

We have been to the Hermosa many times and always enjoy ourselves. The staff at check in are always so friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a larger suite this time so it was especially enjoyable. Yeah, it's hot in the valley this time of year, but its one of the reasons we like to come here. Great rates with added perks, not crowded and we had the pool almost to ourselves. Pool service was excellent and the Hermosa grounds are always beautiful. An added benefit is Lon's restaurant is located on property so really no reason to leave. We have already booked our next stay

This was the second time my husband and I stayed at the Hermosa. This time we got the largest room. We were in 107. We had a front patio and back patio. Unfortunately the back patio had no chairs so we did not sit out back. The front had four chairs and a table which we enjoyed every morning. The room itself is quite spacious with a separate living room. There are two TVs one in the bedroom one in the living room. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the room. Two bottles of water are left in the room every day but you can always get more at the pool or at the front desk. Everyone at the desk is very friendly and very helpful. The bed was quite comfortable and the temperature of the room was appropriate. There is a large walk-in closet for all of your belongings. There is also a safe in the closet. The bathroom is awesome there is a oversized tub and a large shower. We absolutely Love the Hermosa and can’t wait to go back.

thehappytravelers, It is always wonderful to hear when our guests enjoy their stay at the inn. And to learn that it was even better the second time, is truly marvelous. When you visit us next time, please be sure to request chairs on the back patio - we'd be happy to accommodate. Thank you for your review.

My Boo surprised me with a staycation at the Hermosa Inn for our 10th anniversary. My daughter surprised me for Mother's Day as well so he got her a Garden Casita next to our Deluxe casita. The first thing I noticed when opening the French doors to the nearby jacuzzi was the tall grass. It seemed odd that on Mother's Day weekend the grass was so high thinking surely they should have the grounds groomed for such a busy weekend. The next thing we noticed was the terrible mosquito problem!! Seems keeping the grounds landscaped would have helped a bit with that. We had to call the front desk to have them spray our room there were so many mosquitos. It's amazing to me the amount they charge for these rooms and not follow thru on the landscaping. The next disappointment was the room service. We ordered ice tea for two and received a bottle of WARM tea with two glasses. NO ice. We had to ask the server to please bring us ice. The next thing that seemed off was calling the front desk in the morning asking for cream for our coffee. They replied there's cream in your room but what she was talking about was hand lotion. I guess having stayed in a very nice hotel earlier in the week in Houston where they bent over backwards to tend to their guests was the reason this was so disappointing. Dinner at Lon's was good both nights as well as for lunch. But unfortunately it took much longer than we anticipated to be served. Too be fair it was extremely busy and the wait was worth it. The food was excellent. One person in particular rose to the top in service. Lydia, maybe a GM, I'm not sure, was on top of it. We mentioned to her about the mosquitoes and she gave us some lovely anti bug lotion and told us to keep it. She checked on our table and brought us some extra goodies we needed. We frequent Lon's and will return but I'm not sure about the Hermosa Inn. For the price, they need to step it up!

Detail - service was great at the front desk at check in, dinner server at Lon’s (Jessica) and poolside (Carlos). Bad review for hostess at dinner. We arrived at dinner to celebrate our 46th anniversary. This was the conversation once we checked in our reservation: Her - “Where do you want to sit? Me (unsure of what she meant) - “A nice table?” Her - “Yeah, but where do you want to sit???” Me (now confused) - “I am not sure.” Her (seemingly frustrated) - “Inside or outside???” Me - “Inside”. We live locally so had been here for brunch a number of times and liked it. This time for dinner, we ordered salmon and steak. The server said they would wait to prepare the entree until after we finished soup and salad and we said we were ready. We did so and the food arrived 1-2 minutes later and my plate was very hot. Either the chef is very fast or it had been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile. Based on the hot plate, I go with the latter. Steak was good but medium instead of medium rare. The rest was okay. We ate two more meals and they weren’t horrible but they were not up to 4 star standards or worth the cost. Finally, the room was pricey for this time of year and we had great expectations. Bed was nice but the tub had a leak and flooded the floor, the fireplace had giant burn marks up the wall on the outside and we had a number of small ant like bugs crawling around the floor and on the counter and night stands. That’s it. We survived our two day/$2,500 adventure, but…….

We just spent 3 days at The Hermosa Inn. We were expecting something really special but were disappointed. The property is very tired and in need of a major restoration. It's true that the setting and grounds are charming but overall, the resort desperately needs to be better tended. The rooms are spacious but the furniture and decor is worn out. The wood shutters were broken and wouldn't stay open. The bathroom is very dated and the windows wouldn't open because they had been painted over so many times. Lon's is good but not great. Also very tired. Outdoor wooden furniture desperately needs to be refinished and is wobbly. Luminarias along the roofline were mostly broken or missing. So many things like that were noticeable. And the fitness room is so tiny, it can barely accommodate one person.

The Hermosa Inn is a fabulous gem in the desert. The staff from the minute you valet park, to the front desk, cleaning staff, bar and restaurant staff until checkout are absolutely kind, cheerful, helpful and do everything to make your stay memorable. The rooms are exquisite, clean and beautifully decorated. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The restaurant Lon's has a wonderful ambiance and amazing food. The pool is so cozy and relaxing, as are the entire premises. We stayed at the Royal Palms for 20 years and after staying at the Hermosa Inn, we will not go anywhere else. Deanna, Jean, and Tammy at the front desk are so kind and helpful. The spa attendant Tiffany is well trained and does a fabulous job. The gift shop has wonderful amenities and the fireplaces throughout are cozy and welcoming. It may not be a huge resort but it is packed with love, kindness, and what it takes to make your stay perfect whether it is for one night or many.

My husband I prefer a high-end, quieter adults-only venue when we vacation. The Hermosa fit the bill beautifully. The casitas are private, southwestern in decor, and very comfortable. The pool area was lightly attended and peaceful, and the pool (though small) was the perfect temperature for the two of us to frolic. The grounds were impeccably maintained. Having Lon's Restaurant on-property was their stand-out amenity. We were worried because we had not made advance reservations, but the front desk assured us that hotel guests were always accommodated, and we never had to wait for a table. The food was excellent and not over-priced. Scottsdale was just a quick drive away. Deanna from the front desk was very helpful in giving us a sense of where the good shopping was. A nice place!

We just spent three nights at the Hermosa Inn. This was our second stay here, and we’ll definitely be back. This place is just special. Lovely rooms, beautiful grounds, delicious food. But what really sets it apart from other places— the staff. Absolutely everyone we came in contact with made us feel so special. The guys at valet, guest services, room service delivery, Lon’s staff. Each and everyone of them seemed to have a vested interest in us enjoying our stay. Wow. Just wow! They hit the ball out of the park. This is the only place you want to stay in the Phoenix area.

We had a lovely casita our wedding weekend. Liz, the Catering Director was extremely patient and very professional. I knew we could count on her. Hermosa is this lovely boutique hotel with incredible grounds and superlative food. We were treated like royalty. We had a couple small issues with our casita. They bent over backwards to make it right. It was the perfect place to be married.
