Lynn's Getaway Hotel has a rich history, dating back to 1820, just a year after the devastating Apia cyclone of 1889. It was constructed using salvaged materials from the USS Vandalia. Serving as the Masonic Lodge until the 1980s, it witnessed a transformation when Thor and Lynn Netzler acquired it, utilizing it as both a storage facility and a residence for their burgeoning supermarket located adjacent to the property. Remarkably, to this day, the second floor proudly retains the original deck of the USS Vandalia.

I stayed at Lynn's for 2 weeks while visiting and working at the local hospital. Coming from the U.S. solo I was a bit intimidated with travelling this far by myself. Lynn's was excellent and I would definitely stay there again. The most valuable part of Lynn's was all of the guidance from the staff and most of all her son (Karl). He made sure every guest got to see as much of Samoa as they could and without Karl I would not have learned any of the history or seen many of the sights I was able to. He took us hiking, snorkling, waterfall jumping and lounging at the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. His tips to stay safe and get the most out of my two weeks were much appreciated. Lynn even took us to a beautiful Catholic church on Sunday (only if interested of course). Pick up and drop off at the airport by Lynn's was reliable. The food at Lynn's was wonderful, especially the pancakes (best I've ever had) and there is a shop next door and multiple good restaurants (check out Scalini's) within walking distance. There was an affordable gym within walking distance with spin bikes looking at the ocean and mountains. The air conditioning was much appreciated as it was quite warm in Samoa. Room was clean and well kept, staff helpful with needs. Pool was great. Have found myself wanting to back to Samoa and Lynn's very frequently since returning to the U.S.

There is no better place to stay for long-term accommodation in Apia, particularly as a medical student for elective. The rooms were perfect for what we needed, with nice ensuites and desk. The main hotel provided brilliant breakfasts and Sunday lunches, offered 2 lovely swimming pools, and the location was extremely convenient for the hospital and other amenities. We felt very well supported, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic which we really appreciated. A personal highlight for us was definitely the tours led by Karl, who went above and beyond in his expert looking after of us, and completely made our trip! Thank you so much again for a perfect stay

Love mama lynn and all staffs here! They really look after you well and feed you well! Makes you feel like you really belong to this samoan family (very well family run place!) Mega friendly and sharing is caring is their motto♡ Karl takes people around the island and also organises affordable longer trips too. All the essentials are covered and if you need anything just ask. They are always willing to help! Surrounded by good eateries too but they provide free breakfast and sunday lunch anyway (samoans are more than generous when it comes to toanai!!). cannot thank them enough for such beautiful experience! miss them all!

We stayed in the apartment and it is definitely in need of some TLC - missing doors in the vanity, shower door that is broken (my daughter got locked in). The driveway is SHOCKING, there was no TV. The check in process lacked details but it was an ok stay. Staff were friendly and the pool was great as was the security guard who even turned the outside light on for us when we were late back. The lounge was very hot as the aircon was in rooms

This is our second time visiting Lynn's Getaway and enjoyed it for a second time. The people there are lovely to deal with and it is a great place for a family to stay while in Apia. The swimming pool is a great place to cool down in and the communal meals were very enjoyable.
Yet again, thank you so much for an enjoyable stay.

We have visited Samoa many times. We were pleased with the hospitality and cleanliness of the hotel. It’s more like a bed and breakfast. The breakfast was very good. The place reminded me of a Victorian style home with very nice woodworking. We stayed in room 2. Very spacious.

This was my first visit to Samoa for holiday and I was there for a week with my partner. Choosing Lynn’s Gateway to stay during our holidays was the right choice. We can have all the basic facilities for a comfortable stay. The house is clean, aerated and plenty of lounging areas inside and out. You can have your own privacy, quite peaceful and homey. Room with air condition, TV, fridge, clean bathroom with a hot shower, tea and coffee set and most of all a comfortable queen size bed to lay-on. The place is quite romantic too.

I really like the view of the nearby forested hill from the upstairs balcony, so beautiful and relaxing. Breakfast is included and you can choose what you want and will be cooked and prepared when you order it. To add on, the availability of fresh fruits are always there for your need. The staffs were so welcoming and attentive to the need of guest. We were very pleased…thank you so much!

We enjoyed our trail up to Stevenson's tomb monument on Mount Vaea. There's a spectacular view from up there and just very near to Lynn’s Gateway. After a tiring hike, at the hotel a big clean swimming pool was there to cool down and relax us at the end of the day. We also enjoyed our trips to Lalomanu beach which was quite far from the hotel but Karl was always helpful and willing to get us there.

The location of Lynn’s hotel is perfect, just a few minutes to town, grocery store next to it and to top it off, it’s next to the hospital. You can get taxi easily too, well, the accessibility is there. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone from solo traveler, business, couple or even those on a family trip.

We had a lovely time and i enjoyed our staying in this hotel. Thanks for making our holiday a memorable one and will surely stay here again for the next visit. Fa’afetai lava!

We stayed at Lynn's for a few weeks whilst doing our medial elective at the hospital which is conveniently located 5 minutes away.
The main attraction at Lynn's is the really friendly staff and homely feel - thank you Rosemarie, Lena, Fata, Val and all the others for trying to make everyone's stay as comfortable as possible. There is a great daily breakfast (pancakes, fruit, eggs etc.) and Sunday lunch included in the price which is delicious. The pool is great on hot, sunny afternoons and there are lounge chairs on the deck (favourite spot of the two friendly dogs on the property). We found it really useful to be able to use the kitchen to make lunch and dinner during our stay - you can buy all the ingredients and other amenities at Lynn's supermarket located next door. If not in the mood for cooking, you can ask Paulo to fix you some lovely dinner for 30 tala. There is also Lynn's restaurant which serves a very affordable lunch next door, and a laundromat across the road where the girls will do your washing for you. You can rent cars from here at a fair price, and we even got to use it for free on our last day which was very generous of Lynn.
The only downsides are the cockerels which start their day (and subsequently yours too) at 4am, and a nearby sports bar which occasionally plays loud music at night (which is obviously out of the staff's control). There was also a mix-up with our room which had been double booked - I've seen a few other reviews about similar problems - though the staff tried to sort this out as best they could. Lastly the standard by which they clean the rooms isn't all that great - sheets and towels are always replaced but I'd rather they prioritised mopping the floor and cleaning the bathroom more thoroughly.
Overall though I had a wonderful stay at Lynn's - really friendly, helpful and flexible staff, great food and a chance to meet lots of other nice people. I would recommend and stay here again.
