This is hands down THE BEST HOTEL I have ever stayed at, and I don't say things like that lightly. The hotel itself is gorgeous, with a waterfall view from almost all of the rooms. I would sit outskde at night and watch the beautifully illuminated waterfall from our balcony. If you'd like to visit, the base of the waterfall is a simple one to two minute walk across the street! The beds are comfortable, and the showers are really nice. The pool is quite amazing as well, and the restaurant attached had really great food. We were even greated with a mimosa upon arrival! However, the best part about this hotel is the staff. A member in my party had a medical emergency late at night, and speaking minimal Spanish we were terrified. They quickly secured a ride to the hospital for us and helped us through the scary times. With no access to a translator at the hospital, they even sent a staff with us to help translate as best as they could, which *literally* may have been life saving. I have never met such kind people before. All in all, this hotel has had better service and views than any hotel I have stayed at before. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Baños.

We visited the Sangay Spa Hotel as part of our tour around Ecuador. The hotel is conveniently located on the edge of the town next to the pretty Cascade de La Virgen. It is just a few minutes walk to the centre of the town and plenty of cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself is a mixture of old and new buildings. We stayed in the original old part of the hotel in a decent sized room complete with a very comfy bed, full bathroom, safe and a small balcony. There are obvious problems with damp in the stone walls which they obviously try to keep on top of but are struggling with. Purified water was provided daily, however I don’t think the container and glasses were replaced every day so would buy bottled if you have a delicate stomach. There is a tv in the room but the channels are all Spanish and reception is poor due to the location in the valley. The breakfast was very good with a decent selection of options, all fresh and regularly topped up. The facilities are good with an adult and children’s pool available from 2pm-9pm Monday to Friday and a 10am-9pm Saturday to Sunday, although this does not appear to apply to some people and management do not regulate it. There were families in the pool at 6:30 in the morning when we were there and they were very noisy. Pointless having specific times if it’s not regulated. Weekends get very busy. The Ecuadorians are lovely people but are not quiet at any time of the day. Take this into account when you book this hotel as the thermal spa over the road from the hotel opens early and gets noisy and car alarms regularly go off. Don’t be surprised either if you get the soldiers running past, chanting at 5:20am. The spa pools were free in the hotel and were pleasant to use. Try to get in there when it’s quiet. Notices about it being a relaxation area and asking people to be quiet do not apply yet again. We did not try the massages so cannot verify how good they are. The hotel was spotlessly clean, however the cleaners were a little too keen some mornings and would be knocking on the door before 9am to get in. The laundry service was efficient but everything appears to go in a dryer, so beware if you don’t want your jeans shrinking or your Lycra damaging. On the whole it is a pleasant hotel and staff are very friendly and helpful, but if you want peace and quiet bring earplugs.

Excellent hotel in a great location in Baños. Beautiful lobby, friendly service, amazingly cheap spa. Pool, jacuzzi, bar, cafe, everything you need, plus right across from the hot springs and waterfall. Very highly recommend this place.

This hotel was average. The rooms were OK. The spa was OK. The main positive is that it is across the street from the hot spring and overlooks a waterfall. The rooms did not have a safe for valuables. The doors faced outside and did not have a deadbolt or adequate locks. The lobby is nice and the staff was friendly.

Let me premise this review with I very rarely leave reviews. But the Hotel Sangay and their wonderful staff deserve a 5+ ⭐️ review. From the start of making my arrangements, Vannesa was attentive and thorough with the booking process. Vanessa made sure that upon our arrival we were greeted warmly and made us feel like we were home. We had a room with jacuzzi that looked out at the waterfall and it was amazing. The room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Vanessa and her team worked with my husband to arrange a surprise romantic dinner for us in the area of the restaurant that looks out to the waterfall and it was spectacular. They went above and beyond any expectations that I had for that evening. They put rose petals around the area we dined in. The food was exceptional and the staff provided exceptional service. We had a grilled sea bass with a clam sauce, fresh salad & some yuca fries. The desert was also amazing it was an apple tart with some fresh fruit cream. Vanessa helped us arrange the perfect amount of tours for us to get to know Baños and it’s surrounding towns. Every tour operator was professional and very knowledgeable. She arranged everything ahead of time so we knew exactly what to expect. I even threw her a curveball and wanted to go horse back riding very last minute on the last day of our stay and she arranged it without a problem. On our last evening at the hotel we had a couples massage. My husband had the Masaje Abhyanga & I had the Shirodara. Both were spectacular and relaxing. The warm oil they use adds an unexpected layer of luxury & relaxation. I highly recommend both. I also would like to mention that Martha Alban de Warmington Owner/President & Sasha Warmington General Manager were very much a part of ensuring that our stay was exceptional. Overall our stay @ The Sangay was AMAZING!!! I highly recommend visiting Baños, Ecuador and staying at the Sangay. Thank you to Martha, Sasha, Vanessa & the entire Sangay staff for an amazing visit, we will be back!!

Located on the edge of town with fantastic view of a gorgeous waterfall. With the right room - second floor of the 100 building - you can sit on your balcony and just enjoy the falls. You hear the water all night, which is like your own white noise machine. It does help block out other noises as hotel sounds do carry. Rooms average but overall, very good.

We had a good experience with this hotel. The location is ideal and beautiful. It's right in front of the thermals and has a waterfall in the mountain right in front of the hotel too. The room is sort of small but comfortable. Be aware that there's no thermostat in the room. Otherwise the full breakfast is very good and also the service is excellent.

This hotel is lovely. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is very clean. The cafe serves beautiful food - not your typical al acarte food but after a day hiking/doing the sites it's perfect. Coming from Australia we couldn't believe the low prices charged here ($5 margaritas very happy). A special shout out to Diego and Mayra who both were exceptional in the service and dealing with us (2 couples). Diego's english was very good and it was nice to be able to talk to him about his life here in Banos and answer his questions about our trip and Australia. Mayra's pastries were exceptional and I would thoroughly recommend her cakes to anyone. She also was very nice to talk to
