We were very well received by the friendly Miriam! We stayed 6 nights and felt at home! The location is good if you have a car, as it is close to the airport and a 7-minute drive from the main avenue. The apartment has a living room and bedroom, both of good size. The bedroom even has a closet! There is a mini kitchen with a stove, microwave and minibar, which is very useful, as breakfast is not included. The bathroom is large and the bathtub has a curtain. The baths were excellent, an important part of any stay. There is heating in all rooms. The wifi is excellent! Daily cleaning is included. If you need to exchange currency, you don't need to look for money changers around the city, talk to the owners as it's safer and the rates are excellent!

We stayed in the large private apartment with 4 adults and 2 kids and the place was perfect for us. The owners live next door and were incredibly kind and helpful, suggesting nearby hikes and ensuring we had everything we needed. The location was conveniently near the airport and close to some scenic walks along the beach - it's a long walk to town but there are Ubers and Taxis readily available. I highly recommend La Posta if you want a safe, comfortable and affordable place to stay in Ushuaia!

Excellent place, spacious, well-equipped apartments, even with coffee and tea available. Impeccable heating and cleaning. The owners were geniuses, they gave us information about places and helped us with things beyond their control. They made our stay in Ushuaia the best!

For the price, the pro's and con's just about even out, so it depends on what you're using the hostel for. Convenient to the airport; not convenient to the center of Ushuaia. I might use it again for a transit night when flying in or out, but not if staying in Ushuaia for several days, and not if you want to be sure of a good night's sleep.
PROs:
+ 24-hour front desk, so the premises are as secure as it gets
+ small keyed safe in room 7, which is a double
+ Florencio was very helpful in explaining how to get to town (it's about a 25-minute walk), the national park, buses, retrieving a towel and shampoo for me, and bringing butter, dulce de leche and cheese for me at breakfast
+ the bed and bedding (blanket and duvet) are warm and comfortable
+ close to the airport (43 pesos / USD 4.50)
CONs:
- Poor sleep quality: The walls are very thin, and Room 7 is right by the kitchen, a dorm, and the outdoor picnic table area, so it was really noisy when people were hanging out late at night (face it, it's too far to go into town, where there's not much nightlife anyway) and chatting at breakfast.
- Shower area floor was dirty with mud
- Breakfast is very simple: croissants, bread, butter, dulce de leche, and tea / coffee
- The bathroom near room 7 is deceptive - It looks like there is a shower, but the plumbing is capped and has only a toilet, bidet, and sink, so you have to circle around to the other side of the ground floor to shower
- It's quite far from the center of town, so it's good to stay when you're on your way out of town from the airport, but not so good if you're using it as a base in Ushuaia. To put this in perspective, it takes longer to walk to the center of Ushuaia from La Posta Hostel than it takes to walk across central Ushuaia the long way from east to west.

I stayed in La Posta last week. The staff were very helpful. One day I had to leave the hostel early before 8 am for a day trip and can't have the breakfast. The breakfast started at 8am. I asked the receptionist to see if they could give me some bread before 8am. And they said no problem and I got the bread before I left for my day trip.
The room was clean and warm. The shared bathroom was clean too. My room was near the lobby and the kitchen so it was a little bit noisy before 10pm since the guests were cooking and talking there.
It was a little bit far away for the downtown. It will take you 30-40 minutest to walk to the downtown. There was a bus stop nearby. So you can take a bus.
All in all, It was a good stay in Ushuaia.
Just two minor issues.
Have enough time to check out since there was only one receptionist. When I checked out, I had to wait for 30 minutes since the receptionist tried to help two girls before me on how they could visit Ushuaia. Though the hostel is near the airport, it only takes 5 or 6 minutes if you take a taxi. But you may need to wait for the staff to call a taxi and then wait for the taxi come. So don't give yourself too little time to check out.
Another one is to exchange dollar to pesos in Buenos Aires before you come to Ushuaia. When I was in Buenos Aires, I got 14 pesos for 1 dollar sometimes even 15 pesos for 1 dollar. But here in La Posta, the exchange rate was only 10.2 pesos for 1 dollar. So you will lose money if you try to pay them dollar or exchange dollar into pesos.

Of all the places I have stayed in Argentina and Chile, La Posta Hostel in Ushuaia is my favorite.
The staff, particularly Lucas & Maite, are awesome. Friendly, fun & full of helpful advise on what to see and do. You can book all your excursions, bus rides and taxis through them. The hostel itself is just out of town - about 20-25 minutes walk along the coastal road. On the flip-side, however, the hostel is only a 5-minute cab ride to the international airport. In and around hostel is safe. You are provided lockers next to your bed to store your stuff. The dorms are comfortable, spacious & warm. In terms of cleanliness, the hostel was immaculate. They are tidy and do keep an eye on the state of the kitchen and bathrooms. The bathrooms are communal with hot showers, decent water pressure and you are given soap and a towel. They serve a continental breakfast. Tea, coffee, toast, croissant, dulce de leche etc. Kitchens are communal and well-kitted out with all the kitchenware you would expect to have to prepare a meal.
I've been to hostels in Patagonia that had problems with central heating. But the temperature set by La Posta is neither too hot or too cold - comfortable. The computers worked fine and the internet speed was excellent. The feeling in the hostel was relaxed with plenty of couches and chairs to chill and speak to other travelers. Plenty of interesting people to meet. The hostel attracts many people who just returned from Antarctica or were about to disembark.
A few tips...
Although it is a bit of a walk to town, the walk itself is beautiful. Mountains to your left and the Beagle Channel to your right. Incredible. If you are an early riser, I can strongly recommend taking a stroll along that strip at sunrise particularly by the water's edge. The views of the mountains with their reflections as the sun comes up are spectacular.
The hostel is just across the road from the Ushuaia Flying Club where you can take flight tours over fjords and mountains in and around Ushuaia. Highly recommended! The hostel arranged the whole thing for me. All I needed to do was walk over. Fantastic.
There is a pizza delivery service near the hostel. If you ask the staff, they can order a pizza for you and have it delivered. The pizza was great and prices were reasonable!
They have a currency exchange service at the hostel. However, don't expect Buenos Aires rates of 14-17 Argentinean Pesos to the USD. When I made an exchange it was around 10.
Overall, my experience of La Posta Hostel was excellent. Once again, I cannot praise the staff enough for how great they were. If you are reading this Lucas and Maite, many thanks for everything. I will be coming back to stay again next year and this time for a little longer!

La Posta was definitely the best hostel we have ever stayed at!! We didn't really make a true backpackers experience there, since we booked a double private room with own bathroom, but the quality of this hostel fully knock us of our feet. My first thought after seeing the room was that there was some kind of mistake with our reservation. We actually got a beautifully furbished two floor chalet with a big open kitchen and living room, amazing bathroom and two separate bedrooms on the first floor with 6 beds in total. And all that for just the two of us and for less than 50 EUR per night including breakfast. Wow!!! They even have free laundry for all the guests.
The breakfast was nothing more than coffee, tea, butter, marmalade and croissants. But they were so amazing that we never felt we needed anything else:)). The only thigh La Posta could improve would be adding some fresh milk and orange juice to the breakfast.
The staff were always amazingly friendly and competent. They gave us some great sightseeing tips and helped us organize all of our excursions. Thanks again!!!
Now, the only thing that I could possibly find "below perfect" about La Posta is its location. This hostel is some 25-30 minutes walk away from Ushuaia city center. Though the walk is totally safe (even at night) and the views of the city from the road to it are awesome.
I will definitely try to return there someday...
