The hotel is really comfy with Argentinean traditional touches and a wonderful view of the city and the lake. It is located 15-20 minutes walk from downtown in the hill. Although a bit far from commercial and food options, it compensates with the beautiful view and the friendly host. Ana was always great in giving information and advice as well... More

Great place, and great staff. Ana, the owner, makes you feel like an old friend. We arrived mid morning and she offered us coffee and cake and spent with us one hour to explain all the different tours and possible excursions. The Hostaria is close to downtown (15 min walk or 3$ taxi ride) positioned on a hill with a... More

In a very touristic athmosphere,We found a friendly welcome in the small very cosy hotel. The owner speaks fluid English and takes herself time to explain all excursions in the surrounding area, which helps a lot. The Roms are tidy ,nice and cosy.

This place is a little bit outside of town but has so much character. Anna the women who runs the place is the nicest person i have met. She opens her heart to everyone and genuinely cares about others. The rooms here were comfortable and warm and it was just what we needed. If you are looking for something a... More

There was stunning view, great and very helpful host (owner), nice breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms. Owner provides all necessary information you need. If you want, she can arrange any excursion for you. But the place is far from center, on the hill, so on the way back you need to climb back Wi-fi only in the hall, but it's... More

Los Barrancos is a hosteria in El Calafate that worked perfectly for our Perito Moreno and El Chalten trip. The lobby is beautiful with great views of the area. There are free hot drinks available in lobby and water which was nice. Ana in particular was very helpful, making bus reservations for us and treating us as friends rather than... More

Ana was very welcoming and helped us plan every step of our self-drive visit to the parque. The hotel is a bit more up, away from the main road of Calafate, which results in great views. We did have a car though, I can imagine people don't like to walk up and down all the time. I accidently left my... More

Close to mid December 2011, Noel, Daan and me were finishing our 3 weeks Birding Tour in Argentina. We started birding close to "Buenos Aires", then went up north through the "Ibera Marshes", "Iguazu Falls and National Park", crossed over to Paraguay and then went down south through "Trelew" and "Camarones" to finish it off at "Calafate" in SSW Patagonia.... The rooms are very clean and reasonably comfortable, and a decent value given the inflated prices in El Calafate. Also the continental breakfast was good. Unfortunately, the grim and inhospitable owners make staying at Los Barrancos unpleasant. Also, the walls are thin, the hotel is difficult to find, and while the hotel advertises WiFi it does not work in the... More

We were there in December 2012 for 4 nights. We don't like this hosteria because the location, too far from town and the walking path is not easy. Wall are thin between rooms - we can heard clearly all the conversations from next door! Meanwhile the host has never smile! She seem not a happy person. Breakfast was poor. No... More
