The ‘Hostería Pampa Linda’ is something quite special, even among other similar establishments - not quite out of this world, but definitely far from the madding crowd ! Not only is its breathtaking location, in one of the most spectacular areas in Argentina’s Patagonian Andes, but it also provides its privileged guests with a wide range of physical recreational activities without, however, neglecting those who seek more tranquil pleasures and relaxations. All around there is the wonderful scenery to work its quiet magic on the discriminating guest. Hostería Pampa Linda lies a little over 50 miles from San Carlos de Bariloche, the famous tourist and ski-centre of the region. Ten miles away the majestic Mount Tronador (The ‘Thunderer’) begins to rise to its towering 12.000 ft (3554 m). All around stretches Nahuel Huapi National Park. In this splendid setting, over generations, the Vereertbrugghen family have been pursuing their cherished traditions of warm hospitality.

If you love to hike in the national park, take photos an be outside… this is the place to stay. Far away from everything but right next to nature and mountain. Solo or families will work. Dont leave without going to FREY and if you can sleep at night.

Pampa Linda is located in the middle of the park at an amazing location. In the evening it was very quite so it really feels you are away from everything. The owner and staff were really friendly. We had a great stay!

The hosteria is situated in the most ideal location for views of Monte Tronador from Pampa Linda. The lodge is older so rooms and baths are small - but the views are to die for. Many of the rooms have both a double and triple bed, making them a little cramped if you don't need the extra sleeping space. Ask for room 10 on the corner with just one bed. Staff members Julieta and Romina were wonderful - attentive and helpful - thank you!! The hotel is busy at lunchtime when buses visiting Pampa LInda from Bariloche bring passengers for lunch. Before 11 (or a little later) and after 1:00 the hotel and restaurant and peaceful and lovely. Meals were good. Breakfast included meat and cheese in addition to bread, butter, jam/honey. All our dinners were nicely prepared and filling. If you don't want a three-course dinner you might be better off ordering "ala carte" instead of including meals with room. There are some sights to see walking or by car in the valley - or you can day-hike to Otto Meiling or Rocca huts (long days) - or stay at a hut overnight and at the lodge before in order to get an early start - ahead of everyone coming in from Bariloche at mid-day. A great option is to arrive in Pampa LInda mid-day and explore the valley (waterfall, Ventisquero) and spend the night at the Hosteria. Leave the next morning and hike to Refugio Rocca. Spend the night and hike through to Lago Fria and take the ferry/bus/ferry back to Bariloche. Have fun! What a location!

We stayed in this accomodation for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay, especially the amazing views! We got great information about trekking in the area as well as other must see sights. Both breakfast and dinner were great as well. It is not a cheap place to stay however, it is a great area to explore and if you can afford this accomodation (instead of camping).

I got deeply disappointed in the service provided especially because I am originally from Bariloche I used to recommend this place. We did a guided horse-back ride with overnight stay in the hosteria. Horses were in good conditions as well as the equipment provided but the guiding service was extremely poor. I called in advance to check if an English speaking guide was available for my girlfriend but because of low season they only had a Spanish speaker guide, which I accept as I could translate. Basically, the guide didn't talk to us in the 5 hours ride, no explanations about the scenery, no questions if we were OK, nothing. In addition, we left 1 hour late from what we had agreed so when we got back the sun was down as well as the temperature. Preservation of the national park was poor; dogs were freely getting in to the forest and our horses did short cuts through the forest. At the arrival we had no hot water at the room for taking a shower (therefore no shower because the water was freezing cold), food was low quality and the day after we were asked to pay the full price of the room............it was even hard to get a 20% discount! The staff was kind in allowing us to park the car under a roof to protect it against the night freezing. To sum-up, scenery was incredible, lots of improvement to do in the service provided. From now on I would double think to recommend this "hosteria".
