I have never experienced this before in 30+ years of travel - but when I got to this hotel, and particularly in my room, I had a terrible allergic reaction to the point where breathing was becoming difficult. I arrived and started feeling this; then took a walk and felt better, upon return from the walk I tried staying in the room with the window wide open. After a couple of hours it was clear I needed to leave before it became severe - my breathing was already impacted. At first I thought the hotel would help out with this as I had a non-cancellable booking, (they were very kind in assisting with finding an alternative) but ultimately they did not help financiallu and so I walked away from a pre-paid 3 night stay. YMMV. I can't imagine this is common, but wow. 1,000 USD error. One other thing. The hotel is nice, but I would only consider it (aside from the allergy issue) if you have a car. It's pretty isolated, it takes 30 minutes to even walk to the main road, and that's a walk down a dusty road.

Dear Mr Pollock, We read your review published in Trip Advisor without surprise. During your Check in you informed us that you didn’t feel very well when you landed at the Airport, telling us that there was something in the air that made your breathing difficult. But you couldn’t tell us to what were you actually allergic to. We offered another room, not knowing very well what your particular allergic reaction was, but you told us you preferred moving to another Hotel. We tried in several ones, due to the high season it was not something easy, and finally we could make a reservation in another property. Unforeseen situations of allergic reactions occur here as in many places in the world. When this situation exceeds the normal parameters of the place no one can be prepared to solve it immediately. The peaceful and quiet of Aldebaran Hotel & Spa is due to the location. And it is well described in the information of the property. We regret your negative experience at our hotel. We take all critiques seriously and we always seek to improve our facilities; however, in this case we cannot recognize the faults you pointed out. We take pride in our standards of excellence, standards that have been recognized by Trip Advisor and our clients. Sincerely,

Loved this smaller hotel away from the chaos of Bariloche. Sat on the dock on a warm day and had the best massages. Beautiful vistas and fabulous staff. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Overall a great stay.

We love Aldebaran!! We stayed here for four nights and really wish we could've stayed longer. The staff is so nice and helpful, the food is outstanding, and the property is stunning. It's about 30 min outside the city of Bariloche, which is totally worth it for the peace and quiet + the views. We want to go back!

This place was outside the craziness of Bariloche on a small finger of the lake. It had beautiful views from the room and the room itself was very comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were great - they’d make you eggs, toast and whatever you want to drink (we’d get hot cocoa with dulce de leche- tasty!) in addition to breads, yogurts, cereals/continental stuff they have out. My wife got a great massage that was an hour long for like $30. The grounds were peaceful and we enjoyed doing yoga every morning on the dock overlooking the lake. The lounge areas were comfy as well. they were very kind to make us reservations at la massia since we didn’t want to go into Bariloche for dinner. We’d eaten at the hotel restaurant the first night and weren’t too impressed so we wanted to try some place new. Over all it was very relaxing and a good price and a great location. We rented a car as it would have been difficult to get to this place and around without one. Paid w visa for everything except had to do cash for the massage. Will be back someday! Thanks!
