I typically spend a hundred nights per year in a hotel - easily over a thousand in the last 20 years and remember maybe 10 of them. This place is in the top 5. Although a Marriott property, the lodge is small - about 20 rooms I guess. It's in a gated community with a golf course and very expensive homes. The security gate takes some time the first time you go through, but they give you a code to use after that. The scenery can only be described as stunning. The pictures don't do it justice. You'll find yourself staring out the window without realizing it. I did a Grand View room which is on the top floor with views in three directions. It had a kitchenette, dining table for three, a king bed, two arm chairs with a coffee table and a spacious bathroom. Incredible water pressure. Even with all of that, the staff is really the best part of the hotel. Marianna, Bruno, Rosario and Denis were very friendly and very invested in making sure we had a great time both in the property and exploring the area. Although the hotel is in a very posh setting, they make it casual and comfortable. Other reviews mention the staff, but they truly are the best. Granted the inflation in Argentina is a bit crazy, but we felt it was the best value of any hotel we have ever stayed in when we got our bill. Personally, I would never consider staying anywhere else in Bariloche.

The lodge is located at a gated resort lots of villas and a golf court very close to Lago Gutierrez were you can swim and hike. It's possible to hike all the way to the ski area, Cerro Catedral and lots of other hike trails closely. The restaurant was not our favorite but lots of great restaurants around. The rooms are excellent with nice views on the lake.

The setting is a lovely piece of nature. The staff is remarkable, especially Sergio (front desk). He has the best customer service skills I have ever seen. The girls in the breakfast room were wonderful, too.

I absolutely loved my stay at this beautiful hotel, in large part due to the amazing staff! Mariana was so helpful in accommodating my late arrival, helping me make transportation arrangements, and recommending and booking an amazing activity that was one of the highlights of my visit. Nicolas and the rest of the restaurant staff were also extremely kind and went out of their way to make my stay great, even delivering dinner to my room when I had arrived after the restaurant had closed. I highly recommend a stay here!

We had a lovely stay. This is a small hotel with about 27 rooms in a very peaceful and beautiful setting. Our family stayed for five days and found this a most restful and restorative interlude. The staff is outstanding-Sergio was a wonderful host, and Nicolas, Bruno, Walter, Sol, Rosario, and Tamara are kind and attentive and made our dining experience so pleasant! Breakfast is substantial and delicious. I appreciated that appetizers could be adapted for vegetarian tastes.

I stayed for a week in late November, without a car, and found the area and hotel views to be incredibly beautiful.. The front desk hotel staff were most helpful in planning and booking daily excursions (horse riding, kayaking, boat cruise), both in advance of my arrival (by email) and upon arrival. The hotel is not in the Bariloche City Center but taxis were always prompt upon request for rides into town. The local Nature Preserve provides miles of great hiking trails, and wonderful views- if you are willing to climb a few hundred meters. Trails accessible by short walk from hotel. Loved the peacefulness of the resort; I also loved going into Bariloche. Taxis worked for me, especially thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff, but would consider a car hire next time. Hotel staff is exceptional: Kitchen staff prepared a custom dessert for me after I inquired about a fruit I saw while on a nature walk the day before. Great staff!

Usually in interesting but remote destinations I like to stay at hotels from Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), Small Luxury Hotels (SLH), or Design Hotels from Marriott, despite limited elite benefits. There are not many chain hotels in Bariloche, yet Tribute Portfolio is a brand with full benefits so I cannot complain despite my stay being a mixed bag. The location is the strong point of this hotel provided guests have a rental car. Not only Bariloche in general is a nice destination to explore, but I addition Arelauquen Lodge is in a full gated community with lots of luxury villas which have nothing to do with the hotel itself, which is in the middle of the estate and very small with only 27 rooms in a golf course and mountain views. Our room was charming and quite fitting for a mountain destination with lots of wood and the angled ceiling. This hotel is not new and modern in fact some parts of our room could have used some maintenance, also housekeeping was not the most thorough. There were hair on the wall of the shower when we arrived, and it was not cleaned up by housekeeping on any morning that our room was serviced during our stay either. The restaurant and the other common areas like the bar with fireplace were lovely with views of the golf course and the mountains in the distance. Not only the hotel was quiet when we stayed, but in addition they required guests to pick a time slot for their breakfast time. That meant that any time we went to breakfast it was very peaceful, in total contrast with the zoo-like atmosphere in some crowded hotels nowadays including some mountain resorts. In terms of breakfast food it was not the most impressive. They brought set items to our table (no buffet) and it was limited to a bit of fruits, bakeries, and cold cuts. We could order eggs made to order but overall I found breakfast to be was slim pickings. Cappucino was also not part of the Marriott Platinum free breakfast benefit – extra charge was required. Food for room service was much better than breakfast and the prices were in line with restaurants in town, and not reflective of captive resort prices at all so it was good value. We received a bottle of wine in the room with some desserts as the welcome amenity, and in addition they provided a voucher for escabeche, home-made bread, and another bottle of wine at the bar, on top of another voucher for a cocktail which was quite generous. The main negative of the stay was internet. When it worked it was fast, I clocked speed of 90 Mbps. The problem is that there were several outages, some of them being long stretches of a few hours. Eventually they called a technician on site to fix the problem but even the next day it was still not working 100%. Overall the stay was mixed but unlike in big cities with lots of competition from many hotel chains, in picturesque destinations I can let a lot of issues slide. Overall I liked the friendly service and the location of the hotel so I can recommend it.
