Let's put this review in perspective: We were a group of 4 who planned a ski trip to Cerro Catedral on relatively short notice (about 2 months). By the time we made reservations there were very few choices available in Cerro Catedral. WE ended up reserving a 4 bedroom apt that was way too big for us and way too expensive because it was the only thing available at this hotel. So, the apt was very spacious and comfy. It had all the amenities you may need, except for Wi-fi which was terrible and apparently that is the normal at Cerro Catedral. We had several issues with the apt, but, after reporting the issues, they were corrected very quickly. The staff here was very friendly and accommodating. Because of the staff and the kitchen I gave them 4 stars instead of 3. They have a restaurant on site for in-room dining only. We were surprised that a small hotel like this had a kitchen for their gusts. And it turned out to be a really good kitchen. All the meals that we ordered were very good. Plus: Location. If you are debating whether to stay at the village or down the mountain, don't debate anymore. Staying at the village is a huge advantage. Traffic into and out of the resort can be really bad. Friendly staff Hotel kitchen for in room dining Spacious apartments Minuses The rooms are a little outdated and in need of renovations. The biggest minus for us was the price. We ended up paying $1,100 per night for our apt. You may want to argue that for a 4 bedroom apt at a ski resort this is actually cheap, but we found the price way too high for Argentinian standards.

More than anything the staff at Galileo were unbelievable. We seemed to be constantly asking for help or advice with one thing or another and they always delivered. I stayed for 5 nights with friends and family. The location is a very easy walk to the center of the village. For only a few pesos we left our skis etc at Nestor Ski each day right by the chairlift so we didn't feel the need to be as close as possible to the center. Our room had everything we needed to be comfortable. The staff were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and other activities. They organized transportation for our big group whenever needed. We loved our time in Cerro Catedral and hope to return and stay at Galileo once again. Thank you!

Great staff that also speak English and can help you navigate the area, good food with its own intimate restaurant, clean well appointed rooms, good location for the snow. The planetarium that is part of the hotel really was one of the highlights of my stay in Bariloche, would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

We recently visited Bariloche to climb the Tronador mountain. We stayed at the Galileo for 4 days. The stay was fantastic. We were treated to daily room breakfasts (brought in by a hotel clerk every morning at your chosen time). But the real treat came at night when the observatory opened and our astronomer enthusiast gave us a tour of the southern ski. What a delightful activity! Never before we were so enthralled by a hotel extra activity. My closest comparison would be the Ritz in Battery Park, where they give you a telescope to see the statue of liberty. This was way better. Kudos to the whole Galileo team and especially the manager, Sol.

Great place! Even better ski rental place! Within 10 steps of the gondola is an absolutely fantastic ski rental place. They even help you put on your boots as a skier with over 25 years of experience I don’t need but they keep them overnight, they keep your skis, everything shows up clean and ready in the morning. They’re fantastic and most of all, they are only 10 steps from the gondola. Wish I could remember some of the guys that worked there. The manager refers to himself as “el chino”. The people at Galileo are fantastic. The heated floors in this place are unbelievable! It really makes the room warm and cozy.

I loved my stay at the Galileo. I was looking for a nice mid-range hotel for a 5 day ski trip, and the Galileo exceeded my expectations. The service is excellent, Veronica in particular really went out of her way to help us, she helped us rent a car, and spent time doing inquiries on a fishing trip that we were looking to do. The other hotel employees were great as well. I forgot a belt in my room after I checked out, and they emailed me about it and I was able to come pick it up. Each room has a jacuzzi, there's nothing better than that after a long day of skiing! On one of the nights the hotel brought down an astronomer and invited the guests to join him as he showed us different stars using the telescope on the roof.. that's really unique! Even though the wifi never worked well, this hotel gets a 5 star rating from me for the great service and all the other nice things it has. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Thank you Sol P for your kind comments on your stay. We work every day to meet and try to exceed our guests expectations. We are always glad to help make your experience an excellent one. I will compliment Veronica on your behalf and the rest of our team as well. Fishing season in Patagonia usually runs from November through May, but you can sometimes fish all year round in some of our many surounding lakes. Please make sure to contact us in advance next time to arrange this before hand. Galileo Boutique Hotel features an Astronomical Observatory and we are glad to invite all our guests on clear sky nights to discover the southern hemisphere´s stars and constellations. We are crossing our fingers hoping a good internet server stablishes in Bariloche so we can improve our service. We hope to see you again soon Sincerely Maria Sol Canalda Manager Galileo Boutique Hotel

I enjoyed my stay at Galileo. The room was beautiful and comfortable -- stone floors, very clean, all new-looking and (important after skiing) hot water. I particularly enjoyed the helpful and accommodating staff, which helped me feel settled in notwithstanding my very short stay. They also have larger suites with kitchens, which would be great for groups or longer stays. A 5-minute walk from the base of the mountain as well.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly and spoke English. The hotel is conveniently located within easy walking to the Catedral base lodge, bus kiosk and little food shop. We had a junior suite which was perfect for our family of four. Tall ceiling, stone fireplace, amazing radiant heated floors, lovely views. We cooked our own simple meals in the mostly well equipped kitchenette but if the aroma from the hotel kitchen is any indication, the food must be great! Twice we went up to the observatory with a local amateur astronomer who showed us stars and planets- what a cool and unexpected bonus! Everyday the fireplace was cleaned out and replaced with fresh wood and kindling. All we had to do was light a match. A few tips: if you want to cook your own meals the local store Shirdi is very limited. If possible shop in bariloche before arriving and don't bring fruit on the plane! The heated floor is wonderful but don't leave your bags of chocolate on it. The hot water is extremely hot and not easy to regulate. Parents should be very careful not to let children use the sink and shower by themselves. My only suggestion for the staff is to have pot holders and extra dish towels and paper napkins in the kitchenette. Highly recommend.

Dear AppleCrisp Thank you very much for sharing your comments with our future guests. We are happy to hear you enjoyed you junior Suite at Galileo Boutique Hotel. We agree with you and always recommend to shop for groceries on the way from the airport to the hotel, since the shops close by are adequate but they don´t provide great variety. Our restaurant opens after 3pm everyday but mondays and we offer great mountain meals and we also deliver room service. Thank you again for your kind suggestions, we will of course take action to make sure we improve our self catering kitchens are properly equipped. Hope to see you soon Sincerely Maria Sol Canalda Manager Galileo Boutique Hotel

I was looking for a hotel for a 3 night stay, that would allow me to go walking to the ski center up in Cerro Catedral. Hotel Galileo ended up being a very suitable place, where everything is well organized and austere. You don't need more than that, a nicely set up with very friendly service. Breakfast in very good quality, don't expect brunch type nor brazilian full buffet. It is continental, plus pastry, plus fruit, yogurt, ham, cheese. Great choices. Front desk, service, and people attending the hotel are very accommodating. They were nice enough to offer me a place to shower and change after I had checked out since we left late that evening. Strongly recommend it.
