We stayed here for 3 nights and were supposed to go back after a few days in Cafayate but we cancelled it becuz of the experience we had here.

The good:
- Our 4 bed room was ok, a normal cleanish hostel room with ok beds.
- Hot water if you wait for a few minutes.
- Location isnt that bad
- It was cheapish, at least when we did the reservation.

The bad:
- They are pretty stingy with breakfast - just one dry croisant (the worst we have had in 3 months in Argentina, probably the cheapest they could get) per person and some dry bread with butter and jam. We always had to ask the staff to make more coffee/warm milk... the second coffee termo was obviously made through the same filter and was like muddy water and didnt taste anything like coffee. Breakfast room was very cold, although they have a fireplace which they obviously dont want to lit.
- The kitchen is in a pitiful state.. The cupboard doors hanging loosely and hardly any pots or...

Sue and I needed a hotel over Easter and this Hotel bent over backwards to accommodate us, as everywhere else was booked. We landed on our feet with an en-suite double room in a lovely courtyard setting, within easy walking distance of the restaurants and Penas of Balcarce Street and the Main Square. Salta is magical and you can easily spend a week here, seeing the town's sights and doing the tours to Cafayate, Cachi, the Cloud Train etc etc. Hostal Kaskai's new owners Nelson and Estrella had only been in charge for 3 days when we arrived and their enthusiasm is obvious. Anything that is wrong gets fixed straight away and they are extremely helpful. Lucia, their manager, speaks perfect English and she is helpfulness personified.
The hotel is clean, wifi works fast and a modest breakfast is served by smiling faces at ungodly hours when you have to be on a tour or train at 6am. We would recommend Hostal Kaskai to anyone, other than party animals!
