La Posada de Luz is in Tilcara, in the heart of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, which was declared Natural and Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003. It was categorized with three stars by the Tourism Department of the Province of Jujuy, and it has 6 double rooms, triple rooms and a quadruple one. Its owner, Luz Manfredi, knew the area in 1985, while on a trip to Cuzco, and since then she was in love with the landscape and the culture of the people. The project to build an inn in the “quebradeña way”, i.e. with stone foundations, adobe walls and mud cake and cane roofs grew through the years, and it took shape in January 2004 with the opening of the Posada de Luz with its 6 rooms whose main charm are the terraces from where you get a panoramic view of the hills around Tilcara. Since then we have received in the Posada people from all corners of Argentina and the world, many of whom are now great friends of ours.

Nice property close to the center (5min walking) yet quiet enough to enjoy the night. Great property with superb gardening and great views towards the valley. Breakfast was okay, better than in most other places. The restaurant which the receptionist recommended was great if you want to try local food!

The rooms are comfortable and spacious. It's a peaceful place with modern facilities in the middle of the mountains. Very helpful front desk personel, we were able to rent a remis (taxi with a driver) for $42 from 9-3pm and went to visit de Salinas Grandes (great salt flat) Purmamarca to see the multicolor mountain, and Maimara to see "Paleta del Pintor" mountains. Loved it!

Left Tilcara and the Posada de Luz yesterday and really missing it! We spent 5 nights in a suite with wonderful views over towards the mountains. Sitting out on our terrace watching the hummingbirds in the garden was so relaxing- spent hours there! The room was lovely, the gardens delightful and the staff as helpful as they could possibly be. Every day they advised on different places to visit and explore, and how to go about doing so. We walked, took colectivos, remises, buses and had one day with a wonderful driver and guide - Fabian. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the town centre, so is perfectly situated for the shops and restaurants etc. I will never forget our stay here and hope to be back one day - I really can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be!
