wasn't sure what to expect after reading bad reviews of a lot of motel 6 places and seedy characters hanging out. Got there on a Monday and left on Wed. No problems. A few shady characters out near parking lot but did not bother us. Driving down the road saw the sign even though gps did not say turn here. Turns out the north and south Mesa motel 6 are across the street from each other! I remember the pics of the one I was to be at and it did not look the same. Asked about reservation, couldn't find it, went out to car to get computer than asked if this was North. No it was South. North is across the street. Really Across the street. Anyway as far as accommodation, it served the purpose, was not too noisy though neighbor did have a barking dog but this is a pet friendly motel. Did not use the pool as it was cool weather. No bugs in room as some say they experienced. Slight odor but not bad for $50 ish dollars.

My stay started out well with check in, but as soon as I turned back the bedspread, I discovered two long black hairs on the fitted sheet. The bath mat towel had more long black hairs on it, and there were even more in the corners! The baseboards and AC plug were filthy as well. The only clean thing in the room was the sink and counter top. Luckily I had taken my own towel and pillow just in case, and I'm sure glad I did! The following morning the police arrived to arrest one of my motel neighbors. There are plenty of shady looking people all around the property to see you coming and going.

It's exactly the same as it was two years ago, and fit our needs for a one-night stay just fine. Front desk gals are still friendly and helpful. One thing we did find, was a fantastic Salvadorean restaurant in the strip mall right next to it. As evidenced by this second review, we would stay here again...

No coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator. For this particular trip I needed 2 of the 3 amenities. There was a clump of hair on my bed and I noticed another clump on the floor. Just a little gross for me. If I just needed a bed for the night it would be fine. Since it was hidden a bit off the main road I did not feel very safe. I had to be out the door very early for this particular trip.

We made our reservation through bookit.com based on the fair reviews. We were in town for spring training (=expensive) so thought we would stay here and give it a chance. It was craziness at check-in, the front desk clerk was very nice, but needed help as there were so many folks checking in at once. We were given a key (which didn't work) to a second floor room. Rather than go into the room, we decided to grab dinner. We saw a police car parked just outside the parking lot. We pulled up to ask the officer if it was a safe area, as the rear parking lot was dark and kind of sketchy. She recommended staying elsewhere as this area "was their -cops-second home" YIKES! We had booked for two nights, but decided since we had already been charged, to stay just the one night and cancel the next. When we got back to the hotel, we went to the room, the concrete stairs were crumbling, their was a City of Mesa orange safety cone at the top of the stairs covering some additional deterioration and the screen to our window was bent and hanging off as if someone had tried to get in-or out-of the room. An ashtray sat on the outside A/C unit. Our key of course didn't work. My husband had to run back to the front desk to get it reprogrammed-needless to say, I didn't feel safe at all in the back area of the hotel waiting. When we walked in the room, the overwhelming odor of stale cigarettes slapped us in the face. I had requested a non-smoking room. We didn't even sit down. We turned around, went down and returned the key and the kind gal tried to issue me a refund but as we didn't book directly with them,she couldn't. I reached out to bookit.com, who then in turn called the hotel. They told me the management would have to get back with me on Monday (this was Thursday). I never heard, so reached out to Motel 6 Corporate. Long story short, no refund. Quite frankling, Tom Bodett should turn the light out on this one. Cleanliness goes a long way..and safety...YIKES. I'm thankful it was just me and my husband...no families should EVER stay here. I'm just wishing I had taken photos so you cold "appreciate"
