My husband and I love smaller places with lots of character and a more personal touch. Secret Garden Iguazu was the perfect fit for us. While it's a block and a half off the main street, once you enter the building you feel like you've entered another world, free from the hustle of city life. Our hosts were all attentive, whether it was helping us arrange for taxis to the falls, or preparing a gluten-free breakfast for me, or simply chatting with us about our day. We particularly loved the 7pm cocktail hour, when all the guests enjoy a complimentary caipirinha and share travel stories. I believe there are just four rooms - it all felt very comfortable and relaxed. Our room was spacious and lovely and well air-conditioned, which was such a pleasure to return to after the heat and humidity. Also, if you're staying at Secret Garden, you're just a short walk from a lovely restaurant called Venancio. Eduardo recommended it, and we ended up eating there three nights in a row. Their seafood and roast lamb were both excellent! Plus there's live music. All highly recommended.…
When our bus from the airport dropped us off in front of the Secret Garden, we found the gates locked and no one answered the bell, despite the fact that we had emailed them our flight information and anticipated arrival time. Needless to say, we were a bit worried. We were definitely in a local neighborhood, so we walked back toward the main road with our luggage in search of assistance. We found a local restaurant (with excellent food and internet), emailed Booking.com with our concern, and soon got an email from Eduardo, who apologized for the mix-up and quickly came to retrieve us and our luggage. From that point on, everything was wonderful. Once inside the gates, we found the jungle paradise that we were expecting—in back of the main house. The lovely polished wooden back porch had a lovely seating area, with tables for meals. A narrow wooden walkway passed through lush jungle foliage (be sure you have mosquito repellent!) to connect the porch to the rooms behind. Our room was very basic, but had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. It was decorated in blue and pink with bright Toucan pillows on the bed, and had lovely dark wooden floors. The air-conditioning was wonderful after the hot, muggy garden! Eduardo brought us cold drinks and helped us plan our entire trip, setting up taxis (for a very reasonable price) to take us to the Argentine side of the falls the next day and to take us to both the Brazilian side and back to the airport the day after. He also gave us suggestions for sightseeing and restaurants in town. Breakfast, served on the beautiful porch, was delicious—fruit, toast and muffins, fresh juice, eggs to order, and wonderful coffee. On the second morning we had to leave before breakfast so Eduardo arranged for us to have sandwiches and fruit packed to take with us. It was the perfect place to stay and Eduardo made our experience of Iguazu Falls wonderful!…
The moment that you walk in you realize why it's named Secret Garden. The guest rooms are located in a delightful tropical garden. The manager, Edwardo, was especially helpful. If you've come for the falls go to the Brazilian side first and the the Argentinian side. and do take the wet water ride. It's a blast.
The host was charming and gracious, the setting was like a tropical setting inside the small city/town of Puerto Iguazu. Close to restaurants and not too far from the park and airport. Rooms were modest and the addition of a ceiling fan or plug-in type would have been wonderful given the humidity in the town and room when we were there. Overall, a nice relaxing place to stay.
This B&B really does have a secret garden. Hidden from the street, the garden is a wonderful place to come back to after a hot day at Iguazú Falls. They provide a delicious breakfast, cocktails at 7.00pm and dinner too if you order in advance. So you don’t need to leave this oasis in the evening if you just want to relax. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bus stop to catch the local bus to the Falls is just round the corner. Eduardo, the manager of the B&B, was extremely helpful providing lots of information about walks in the national park. A delightful place to spend a few days while in Iguazú. I highly recommend it!
