This is quite a unique hotel -just eight or nine rooms in the middle of vineyards, overlooking distant mountains. It was a pleasure to have breakfast in the park, to spend time (alone!) at the pool or to go running by the vineyards and the golf course. What I liked: - Privacy: Even with high occupancy, you hardly ever see other guests since the place is large but with just a few rooms - Free espresso and snacks all day long - Great park, vineyards, etc. - Pool - Simple but nice room, with great beds - Very attentive staff - Decent wifi (considering it's in the middle of nowhere) What I didn't like: - Price: Over USD 180 per night for a standard double room - Basic breakfast (reasonable considering the size of the hotel) - Location: Wasn't an issue since I knew beforehand, but Algodon is ~25 min away from downtown San Rafael by car -however, it's very convenient to go to Atuel Canyon and other local attractions If you're OK with the price, it's a great place to explore the area or to just relax by the pool and the vineyards.…
I had the pleasure of staying at Algodon for 2 nights. From the moment I arrived I was warmly treated by the staff and escorted to my beautiful room. The entire estate is absolutely stunning with not only the winery but a beautiful golf course, tennis courts, horses, pool and much more. Every staff member went out of their way to make sure I felt at home. Every meal I had was cooked to perfection. The wine is amazing! I will definitely be recommending this place to every friend and family member I have! I can't wait to come back! They also have daily activities such as rafting, horseback riding, wine tasting...etc you can partake in that are wonderful and extremely affordable.
This is several levels above anything we experienced in Argentina. Its a wine estate, hotel, golf course and restaurant all in one. And its expanding and getting bigger. The staff are attentive and it really is within a whisker of 5 stars. The rooms are amazing, facilities get top marks and restaurants tasting menu and wine selection would be hard to beat anywhere in the world. So why not 5 stars? Well for the price (especially in Argrntinian terms) you'd expect it all to be perfect but they still had a few wee faults. For example drinks on display (whisky) not actually available. Just take the bottle down. Simple.
Tranquil, friendly place with exceptionally attentive staff. Outstanding restaurant dxpertly pairs food with estate wines. Cooked to order eggs for breakfast. Lovely geounds, and fantastic spa services make this a great place to relax. The staff knows how to marshall all needed resources to explore local sights. Just ask!
Lovely hotel surrounded by vineyards....very good breakfast, lovely pool and gardens. Rooms were very comfortable, good bathrooms. Common areas were lovely and comfortable. Visit to the vineyard was very good and ended wonderfully with delicious wine tasting .
Taking into account the luxury approach of Algodon Wine Estate, the realization seems lacking the love for details. The rooms are nice for a lodge, clean, rustic style, but beds are too narrow. The staff is very friendly, helping if you have questions, but some training would improve their professionalism. The restaurant (500m distant) serves typical Argentinian food. The maintenance status of the offered bicycles is poor and the green of the golf course partially changes into brown. This beautiful location needs really more love for the detail.
Excellent reception from a highly motivated and serviceable team. It's beautifully located within a 15 minute bus/taxi ride from the airport. Constantly developing and getting better by the day. Algodon wines are great and a delight for everyone's palate, mostly due to Mauro's detailed care for and of the vines and the wine making process. The rooms are beautiful and located in a picturesque setting. The restaurant is excellent and Gaston makes it special with his personal touch and the service of his tieam is first class. The property is very well looked after my Sergio, Coco and team. Leaving the place, what we liked least :)
This was the perfect place to stay while we toured some of the local San Rafael wineries. The front desk staff even helped us confirm reservations at several of the wineries on our list. The power went out one night but, this gave the staff a chance to really shine. They were quick to bring candles to our rooms and make sure we had everything we needed to weather the storm. Great experience!
This is marked as 5 stars, but I would ideally award this 4.5 stars. We booked into Algodon for our penultimate night of our holiday, having done a lot of travelling and wine tasting, before heading back to BA and flying home. We wanted somewhere to relax and unwind in comfort and not worry about a hung. Algodon easily provided this - the rooms are lovely, large and comfortable with open private patios overlooking the gardens. The grounds are expansive and beautiful and you can wander and cycle around them at will. Staff were always friendly, helpful and on hand. Finally, top scores for the excellent restaurant which was exceptional, relaxed and had great food and wine pairings. The wines were good too, with an interesting pint noir that was remarkable for its difference from the usual heavy Malbecs/Cabs. The only niggle in my opinion was that in our room was a Nespresso machine and some artisan chocolates that were individually price. I'm not really sure what this was about - if you're willing to shell out on staying at Algodon and eating at the restaurant, I'd expect that a 30/40 pesos chocolate in the room was complementary (I.e. like the bikes, wine tasting, tennis courts, etc). Small things, but the difference between 4.5 and 5 stars in this case, as otherwise this place got the rest spot on and is a lovely setting to relax in.…
We stayed here for 4 nights. A beautiful setting with extensive land for walking, cycling, golfing. The accommodation was immaculate and very comfortable, food and wine delicious and the staff were very helpful. An extremely relaxing and enjoyable stay. Would also recommend the massage.
