Kitchen was average, bathrooms were nasty (more than one occasion that the sinks were blocked), room was average though had peeling paint on the walls and roof (looked nasty), generally run down, check in a lot harder than it should have been (20mins). Activities offered were not appealing - no help from the front desk. Location was ok, 10 min walk to the center and a block from a big super market. Washing machine was a big bonus - free to use though busy. It's budget. They were kind enough to keep our bags after we'd checked out till our bus in the evening.
Our return visit to Mendoza took us back to a favourite location. It was nice to return and see that the many activities we saw in 2015 were still being offered both within and without the Hostel. Eduardo 's staff exhibited our expectations of them in their friendly and helpful manner. For us he and his companion wine tour guide ( our preference is for smaller and usually better quality wine) Myra have never failed to show us some fantastic Vineyards. Azul and it Sharaz remain a benchmark to even rival Barrosa Valley. Suggestion to staff-- close kitchen fridge ( one adjacent to the eating tables) and defrost the ice box. As it now rest it is extremely ineffective and inefficient for the refrigerator... waste of electricity / energy.
The hostel is cheap, so expectations should not be too high. Kitchen is OK but not very clean. Common rooms including garden are comfortable. In the 2 person dorm you hear everything in the garden very well, you wont sleep very well at night if people are talking. Matrasses are awfull. Breakfast is fine. People at reception are very nice however!
We paid 500 ARS/night for a private double bedroom with bathroom. Simple breakfast was included. PROS - Friendly staff all around - Great organized 1/2 day wine tour - Free wine from 7-9pm - Delicious asado dinner (once a week?) - Nice outdoor area - Quiet location with a good grocery store 1.5 blocks away CONS - Rooms and building need some basic repair and maintenance - A bit of a walk from the bus station and main streets - Kitchen space was missing some necessities (i.e. can opener)
Lovely staff, super friendly welcome even offered breakfast immediately after our early check in. Breakfast great, as much as you can eat cereal, pastries, bread, jams and dulce de leche (even homemade marmalade), juice, coffee, tea, milk and fruit. Free wine in the evening, again as much as you want between 7 - 9pm. Wifi perfect. Free use of washing machine, and lots of drying space on roof terrace. Pool, was a little grubby when we were there, but I am fairly sure if requested they would have cleaned it. Our room was the cheapest twin room, so had bunk beds and was pretty tight for space but do able when all the other facilities were so great. Really sweet rescue cat there too. Would 100% return to this hostel, had a lovely time there.
