Hostel Lao was one of our favourites in Argentina. It is a relaxed place, not a party hostel, with a great atmosphere. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable and the higher level dorm room has lockers. The breakfast was always top notch, sometimes porridge, sometimes pancakes, always fruit and jam and rolls. The cooking facilities are clean with room...

A really nice and relaxed hostel. Clean rooms, bathroom and kitchen. Nice common areas in- and outside. Good breakfast. But the best thing about this hostel is the staff! They are helpful and gives a lot of great advice about what to do and how to do it.

Such a chilled out hostel with really great people. We stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked all our tours through the hostel and the staff went above and beyond to help us out on many occasions. We couldn't have asked for better service. The kitchen is clean, bathrooms and dorms are great and the...

We really liked Hostel Lao. We had a private double in the main house (upgraded because our room in the garden area was not ready). Simple decor, good size, all very clean. Shared bathroom but no issues or queues. Breakfast could have been better, the bread had run out. Although that was from a guest eating it late the night...

I stayed for 5 nights during the wine festival in the room which had its own terrace complete with table, chairs and hammock. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook and the garden is lovely to relax in and meet other guests. The owners are both very helpful and gave good recommendations for places to visit and...

We stayed in a double room here for two nights in February. The location is excellent - 10 mins walk from the bus station and 10 mins from Plaza Espana and the City Centre. We were in the Tango room, which is very cute, with a comfy bed, decent shower and good air con. The included breakfast is basic but...

For anyone looking for a quite and nice hostel near the bus station and city centre I can recommend staying here. The rooms are basic but nice and some have private bathrooms. The staff can recommend some great tours if you have no plans and help you out.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the very basic dorm for a week and it was great. Everything was transparent in the sense that you knew exactly what you were getting/paying for. The bedroom and bathroom were always clean, which is always nice. Mike and Celeste were super friendly and helpful when we checked in and when they were around...

This is a hostel with a few private rooms not too far from Mendoza bus station and city centre (but far enough to be quiet and safe). The private room with bathroom I stayed in was 'shabby chic', clean with antique furniture. The Lao has a large comfortable communal area, garden, kitchen, plunge pool and offers very basic (almost symbolic)...

We stayed here for four nights. Celeste greeted us warmly as we arrived early one Sunday. She was friendly and most helpful throughout our stay with great tips and really useful information about Mendoza. We stayed in one of the pool rooms. As we were a couple, the cost of the private room was the same as two people staying...

Hostel Lao is like a good friend's house where you can relax and meet people. Owned and run in a different style by English-Argentine travelers. For 5 years we have been welcoming travelers to stay with us, enjoy our home and see a more Mendozan side to the city. With just 24 beds to keep things friendly, chilled and clean; Lao is a traveler's oasis in the middle of a great city. A social, lively home, NOT a party hostel! ... more   less
