Pros: very friendly staff, great views, close to skiing, big fireplace in the lobby, our room was clean needed updating. Cons: where do I start! Dated, paint peeling off the walls, wall paper peeling, paper thin walls so you hear every sound which made it very hard to sleep, uncomfortable mattress, toilet loose, old dehydrated bars of soap to wash...

Skiing at Sunrise Park ski area in eastern Arizona is quite good if the snow is adequate. But staying the night provides a difficult dilemma. The brand-name hotels are off the reservation, literally, in Pinetop, a good 30 minute drive on dry roads. Or, you can stay at the one hotel on the Apache reservation, which is an easy 10...

Dead bugs in the window sill, rusted out old bed frame on the adjacent patio, hole in the shower curtain, flickering lights in restroom, horrible mattresses, and it gets worse from there. The restaurant was closed for a private party without notice or advance warning. We were on a bicycle tour and couldn't go anyplace else. Were directed to the...

So you book a room at a ski resort and you're thinking resort. All I can say is don't resort to staying here! Walked into our room and boom. A flashback to the eighties. Popcorn ceilings, pink stained carpet, pink swirl drapes and bedspreads, hard rock bed, old tube style tv with no cable only local tv. Service was horrible!...

I came here often in the '90s with my folks, I was a kid then so my perception was different, but it definitely was MUCH better back then. Now, the place is just too far gone. Too many leaks and creaks in the '70s-era wood construction to really be worth a serious remodel, that would be just a waste of...

We checked in Friday August 7th afternoon and after coming back from a nice dinner in Pine Top we went to sleep at 9:00pm, only to be awoken by my son being bitten by bed bugs. I captured 4 or 5 and went to the front desk to say we are out of here. They credited the room rate and...

This place is in serious need of repairs. We arrived on a Monday which is a no no because the have nothing but coffee for the tenants. Bird poop all over the stairs and chairs. The part we were in was very hot, guess they don't cool the air over in that section but no one to complain to because...

I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised with my stay at Sunrise Lodge. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff were all very friendly. The breakfast at the restaurant in the morning was great and the service exceptional. The cost for both the room and the meal was incredibly modest. I would recommend this hotel to anyone...

Stuff is friendly. Food is good, some dishes quite creative such as fritters with rosemarry with local berry dip, and it is close to the ski slopes (5 minutes by car and a shuttle semi regularly). However, rooms - carpets, paint, upholstery - are Very tired.

Unfortunately, this unique property is an orphan, abandoned at the steps of the wilderness. Situated on White Mountain Apache tribal land, built decades ago, it has not been upgraded, cared for, or quality checked in many, many moons. Although it is very convenient and just down the street a mile from the popular Sunrise Ski Resort, be prepared for the...
